Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | October 2013 | Ver 2000, Batman and some Angry Birds

Why do I feel like they're gonna make the Crash and Spyro games compatible come this week's store update?
Famousmortimer posted just a few weeks ago in last months thread that Sony has tried getting them up, but need some kind of action from Activision first. And so far the latter doesn't seem to think it worth their while to cooperate.

What has that guy done besides "asked" for suggestions on Twitter?
Well, he ran LucasArts before it shut down, and produced Star Wars 1313... I'm going to assume it's something like you were asking about, since asking about big results for a division that was only annouced last month is pretty silly.

EDIT: Top of page... Is EDF still on sale in NA? If so, you guys should totally buy it. It's still the number one giant insect and robot extermination simulator on the Vita.

facebook and I think twitter app work too, but if you want to keep the screenshot integrity, connect to your laptop and transfer the screenshots over... can either connect with USB or wifi

Thanks. I want to makes sure I can share some nice moments in games or when I platinum something.

Make Borderlands 2 Vita happen.

It's not like he asked for suggestions 3 years ago. It's been 2 months or so.

And hopefully Type-0 is next on the list of suggestions to reality.

That company needs to stop fucking around with people's money plans. Playing with my money is like playing with my emotions, Smokey.
They are a super-small company that doesn't always have a huge say in how things work out. A lot of things could affect the releast still so close to its completion that can have an effect on the release date, stuff that they have no control over.

Sony really should be able to convince some developers to bring ports of their games to the Vita. They are a console maker and a very big company, the must have some influence in the business world.

If they bring Type-0, I hope they make a (good) HD version. It's a very marketable game, even if it's an spin-off.

Btw, TVita is launching in JP along with God Eater 2. Can we expect it launching with Borderlands 2? Is the biggest western game it has in its line up, as sad as it sounds. Especially when we still know nothing about the version they're porting (GOTY or vanilla) or the developer who has to do the job.

Having a hell of a good time playing PSP games on Vita lately. Lego Batman was great (eons better than Lego Batman 2 Vita) and GOW GOS was amazing and now I'm playing MGS: Peace Walker, years after trashing the demo because the controls were so awful.

Now with dual sticks, I'm having a blast with PW and especially the ease at which you can stealth and CQC your way through missions. Really liking the Mother Base army building mechanic as well.

Anyone else doing it backwards and digging into the fantastic PSP library available on PSN?

An HD version would be great, but I could see Square Enix just porting it on PSN for PSP, leaving it Vita compatible at the least.

I am. Never had a PSP so there's plenty of games I need to play. Dissidia and Disgaea are just a couple to name. Currently playing P3P.

Even if it's a cut version of Persona 3, it's still amazing. First SMT game I played, fell in love with the franchise. I hope Atlus give it the same treatment as they did with P4G and release it in the Vita. I'll be happy with a FES + Female route.

Then how come the games are compatible for EU and JPN PSN? What makes US PSN so different?

Persona 3 Sapphire should be the name since it has a bluish theme. I'd download it for sure, though I'd wait since I'm just now playing it. If the persona countdown is 3 things, I hope that could be one of them.

Of course I'd like to see newer games though. Raidou could use another entry or a new sub series for the a SMT franchise.

I am. FF Dissidia plays awesomely on the Vita, as does Monster Hunter and Gods Eater Burst. Overall, playing PSP games on the Vita is fricking amazing. The combination of the screen quality and colors, and the dual analog stick and filtering options make it the ideal way to play PSP titles.

I just wish that FF: Crisis Core was on the PSN. I never beat it on PSP, and I no longer own a PSP.

I also recommend Gladiator Begins, if you don't have it. It's a fun, cheap arena/action game with some light RPG mechanics, set in Roman times. Looks and plays great on the Vita.

Yup, Gladiator Begins is a hidden PSP classic that every Vita owner should try out.

Yeah, it totally caught me unexpectedly when I played it on the PSP. It was one of the first games I bought when I got my Vita on launch day. I pretty much bought 5 Vita games, and 5 PSP classics, with Gladiator Begins being one of them. I eventually completed the story mode, but man, what a fun, underrated (or perhaps little known) game.

I'd kill for a Folklore Vita though. Even if it was just a port...

Then how come the games are compatible for EU and JPN PSN? What makes US PSN so different?

Yeah, pretty much this.
I think the thing that pisses me off the most in these cases is that (1) the games are already on the PSN service, (2) they're playable on PSP and PS3, but not PSV... even if it is some "licensing" issue with the old publisher, they should be able to negotiate something for this region. SCEE was able to negotiate for Konami go bring SotN and Activision to bring Spyro 1-3 to the Vita when they weren't even previously on the EU store.

It's coming under the name "Legend of Raven", and yes, Nicalis have said they plan to publish it "worldwide".

True. Though I find myself having 0 excitement after having backed Cataclysm. I don't want the old game, I want the new game.

Yes, Sony should be able to convince developers to port their games. I agree with this 100%. Thus, if Gio Corsi and his team are responsible for Borderlands 2, I don't really consider it a big deal. Especially since the game is now over a year old with a fuckton of DLC. We have 0 idea of when it's coming or how it will play on the Vita, let alone the availability of the DLC. Are they going to pull what NRS (or WB) has done and include everything in a GOTY version on Vita? Is the PS3 DLC going to be cross-buy? Just the announcement that it's "coming" doesn't really do much for me.

Agree entirely on Type-0.

As for VitaTV -- I wouldn't hold out hope that it's coming stateside anytime soon. I'm pretty glad that I actually held off on importing -- but as soon as they make one in a bundle with a PS4 controller, I'll be importing. Especially since famousmortimer's comments indicated that we won't be seeing the 64gb card anytime soon.

Maybe I'm spoiled by Shahid, but I'm not really one for the "you'll find out eventually" method of announcing things. Shahid likes to go to twitter, and even if we don't know what game was signed or what negotiations are taking place, we can be comforted by the fact that it looks like he's doing something...

If I were SE, I would do at least some sort of 'tweaking' to Type-0, hopefully in the form of an HD upgrade (best case scenario) or at least better textures and trophy support. That would:

a) Make the game appealing even for Japanese gamers who might already have the PSP version.
b) Make the game Vita-only, since releasing an English PSP SKU would get it pirated in no time, which I think was one of the reasons SE never released it here in the first place.

But then again, SE hates money, so who knows?

I would buy that.... again.

Because I am such a sucker for Persona.

And Sapphires are awesome my birthstone

I also would not mind a remake of DDS.

I know how to take a screenshot, but that's about it. What else do I need to do to be able to upload it? I tried imgur, but it just gets stuck on the upload screen.

Do you have your Vita connected to your PC via WiFi? You can set it up in Content Manager. And then you can copy screenshots over to your PC wirelessly and you don't even have to go to the Content Manager to do it. You just hit the "..." in the folder on the Photos app on your Vita, hit "Copy" and it will ask you what photos you want to copy. Once you do that, the screenshots will be on your PC in the the Photos library in a folder labeled "PS Vita". From there just upload them to any image upload site (I use minus).

So, Injustice is sub-native res like MK. BUT higher polycount for character models, and much more shaders and lighting intact from console version compared to MK.

Per Armature's answers to me on Twitter.

It's also 60$?!?!

Need a trailer - it needs to look as nice a UMvC3/SFxT or even DoA5 for my considerations :0)

Doesn't matter if it's 60fps.

Then again, doesn't matter because I didn't like the game to begin with. :P

Well, guess the game will look great. Btw, is Injustice UE the supposed non-Arkham game releasing this Christmas?

Also, dunno if this is the right thread to ask but I need help with a PSP game that was free recently. Unless theres a PSP thread somewhere on Neogaf I missed.

clearly agito is just square enix subsidizing the costs for an eventual type-0 vita release

Sure. But their internal analysis would go this way:

1. Ohhh, this sold far better than expected.
2. It means our fans are on smartphones.
3. Let's ditch Vita since we hate it anyways and make Type-0 HD smartphone exclusive.

"Since noone is making a game for the Vita, I thought I'd do it. I like the Vita."
(non-verbatim)

This is what the Chaos Rings producer/director (can't remember) said in an interview with Famitsu some months ago on the PSM release of Chaos Rings. I'd always assumed that when he said "noone", he meant "noone in Square Enix".

Don't expect a Vita game from Square Enix until PS3 "dies". Then maybe Vita would get more ports.

I'd personally want a Type-1, but close your eyes and pretend Square Enix doesn't exist anymore.
