Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

Touché.

I'm surprised Eevee never made it as a Pokeball Pokemon. Maybe have it transform based on stage - like, Norfair would bring out Flareon while Fountain of Dreams would be Vaporeon... with eight options I'm sure you could give each stage an "element."

Of course, you'd need to make nine models for a single Pokemon, so it may not be worth the effort. It'd be interesting, though, for sure!

By the by, looking at the Xerneas pic, doesn't that horizon look familiar?

Unless they're reusing skyboxes completely I'm pretty sure we can count him as a Pokeball and not a new stage. The only question I have is the angle... it looks lower than in the Toon Link shot, but it only has the top half of Xerneas' head.

I really doubt it. Sakurai only ever puts up "fake" pic of the days when there's a Nintendo Direct, and there's no Nintendo Direct today.

I'm pretty sure the caption of today's pic is just Sakurai being coy.

Then what was with his Miiverse comment? It sounded like a sarcastic allusion.

I don't see why he would even do that.

Well, at the very least, Xerneas is confirmed to some capacity in Smash. Probably only in Pokemon form, but still. It's something. It means we should be getting some GEN VI reps in the form of pokeballs, at the very least. It also opens up the potential for a GEN VI rep as playable (although I still think it's unlikely).

Maybe Mega Mewtwo?

Hello, SmashGAF. As a long time lurker (Since OT1), I'm glad to finally be able to post here!

Welcome!

Favorite Smash and why? Also, how much quality love-making time have you put in with each one?

My favorite Smash is 64 because playing it online through Kaillera with a familiar community is exciting. Nintendo better not mess this up with the next one.

It's a sarcastic allusion to today's picture. The Xerneas is facing away, Pikachu doesn't see it. It's like "nope, nothing to see here. No Xerneas today." And he's probably also joking about how people have been expecting a Pokemon reveal for the past week, given his previous pattern.

It's 4:00 AM on a Saturday in Japan right now, so yeah, we're not getting anything else.

Are we actually expecting anything? I thought today's image was good enough that we know that we are getting pokeball back again (which isn't surprising) and we got 6th generation pokemon as well.

Tyrantrum PLEASE!

Oh, that's a tough one!
I enjoy playing all of them for different reasons. Though if I had to pick, I'd guess I liked Brawl the most due to amount of content in the game (mostly the music selection).

I never played Smash 64 online, though I might try it sometime now that you mentioned it (I'm not sure if my internet is fast enough though). I'm sure the online will be fine this time though (as many have stated with Namco co-developing
the only Namco fighter I played was Soul Caliber II on the NGC [never was any good though])
)

why would xerneas be playable? its so likely its a pokeball pokemon or a stage hazard

Why couldn't Xerneas be playable? There's no quadrupeds in Smash yet, he represents a new game in a long running and important Nintendo franchise, and he could be a magic user.

It'd be great.

Maybe Mega Mewtwo?

I think Gen VI stuff will be everywhere, playable reps, Pokeballs, a stage on 3DS at least, etc. It's coming out in 2014 so they will have to be current. For playable stuff I'm expecting Mega Evolution transforms/final smashes for Lucario, Mewtwo if its in, and maybe Trainer's Charizard if they go crazy with it.

Does anyone think Pokémon Trainer should actually be named Red like in the games, or is it just me?

I think if they use Pokemon Trainer they have the option to change the model maybe, which would be nice. Like if they used a gen 6 trainer as an alt or something.

To me, "Pokémon Trainer" makes more sense in the context of the Smash Bros. character since you're playing as the Pokémon with the trainer just standing in the background as an avatar. If the character was named Red I would expect him to be more involved in the actual fight.

That would be neat, I also like the idea of Eevee where you can somehow choose a type to evolve into.

Reminds me of Frank West in UMVC3 where he would level up in battle and get upgraded attacks.

I had same idea but for different characters tho. I like that kind of mechanic for Smash but I seriously doubt that we will ever get one for Smash.
