Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 3: Ridley's Believe It or Not!

Always thought that IP would have tons of potential in the hands of the right video game developer. And now it stars a character that caters to the mindsets of developers and gamers alike. A child monk with martial arts flair? Fuck that, brb gonna go punch or punch toward a few problems until they go away

I was bit miffed and almost fell for it.

I'm dumb.

It's dex gives it more sense.

Those are its feelers (so in a sense it's some sort of weird bug/tentacle creature) to make use of its empathic powers, and it clings to its trainers by wrapping them around the trainer's arms.

It's like that clingy character in anime in Pokemon form! Only with empathic powers!
Just because it makes sense doesn't make it any less creepy and disgusting D:

Sylveon is fucking creepy.

You would know about that, wouldn't you?

So what is Voltorb and Electrode? Are there wires inside or is it organic? They have eyes and Electrode can smile.
What about Magnemite for that matter, it has a freakin eyeball!
All of you are getting bothered by weird Pokemon reasons.

What did I miss that a scary rule banner got put on the first page? O_o

I'm not gonna bring that back up.

Magnemite is steel so he has an excuse. Voltorb though... I just don't know

That would be hilarious but do they need to ask Sanshiro for copyright instead of SEGA right?

Segata Sanshiro is fully owned by SEGA but they would have to pay Hiroshi Fujioka (the actor) to use his likeness. (Unless SEGA wanted to dramatically reboot the character but that would be pointless.)

S&SASRT gets away with using him by never naming the character or showing the face, if I remember right.

Magnemite is a robot and It's eye isn't organic.

Voltorb is a Pokeball, and Pokeball's tend to be able to suck up Pokemon into some other dimension or world, so I'd assume it's a quantum singularity that isn't stable. It was created in a accident so I'd akin it almost as software going corrupt and maybe AI was transferred or something. It's hard to really make sense of Voltorb in some regards, but it's eyes aren't real eyes either. It's suppose to be all metal (or whatever Pokeballs are made out of) and the rest is suppose to give it to show emotion or be separate.

You can handle weird?

Ok. Go look up every ghost type's and kabutops' pokedex entries.

Done?

Now play hypno's song

Done?

Lavender town song

Now think about Cubone for a while

Tell me when you're done, I can come up with more

The Pokedex entries, yes, I know about them. I can handle weird, (I don't see Kabutop's entry weird, it's kind of cool). (As for Hypno, that thing is hella creepy going by its entries).

Er, what exactly is odd about Lavender Town's music?

Also I find it interesting that you people are bringing up only Gen 1 stuff. Are you people trying to imply something that I think you are trying to imply?

I just have a feeling that they're bringing up Gen 1 because they're assuming I think Gen 1 is flawless in every way lol
Oh :V

I just notice that every single Pokémon related parody/theory/creepypasta/whatever I see on the internet is always about gen 1 90% of the time. I assume its a nostalgia thing with people but its been almost 15 years now. It's time to move on to gen 2 mythos.

You know what's scary about Gen II?

ugh....this really creeps me out....

The game will sometime get dark....like the whole screen becomes a dark shade of blue and you can barely see...it's so creepy.

One if the Dex entries says nobody knows what came first. The Voltorb or the ball? We don't even know if they're organic or metallic and seeing how he is not a steel type...

There really isn't anything "weird" about Sylveon's ribbons in an evolutionary context, within the Pokémon universe. Sylveon is a Fairy-type Pokémon, which are valued for their cuteness and empathy. Pokémon, in general, on a fundamental level cannot be considered wild animals, because most of them have co-evolved with humans, and therefore often have features specifically for the sake of benefiting them (or, at least, serving specific human-related functions). Although they are not domesticated by our definition of the term, as individual species, they have evolved through a combination of artificial and natural selective forces. Sylveon's empathy feelers (aka ribbons) are an adaptation well-suited to the Fairy-type, and make sense from that perspective. But more crucially, the feelers have evolved to look like ribbons for the sake of the humans they frequently interact with. It's basically an evolutionary positive feedback cycle. These selective forces have caused Fairy-type Pokémon to be more closely associated with people who value cuteness, and therefore the evolutionary pressure is even greater to possess features which humans consider cute, or elegant. So: ribbons, as opposed to tentacles. It's science.

The creepiest thing is when you hold a D-pad direction and a button at the "Gameboy" screen

Lol. I grew up with saphirre

If anything, the ghosts after gen 1 were worse. Banette=chucky, duskull feeds from children's tears, shedinja sucks your soul into its void, etc.

Lol, ya'll funny. I personally take Pokemon at face value. When I think about it too much, it saps away the fun for me.

The fun for me, is thinking about it. I actually wish they would put more stuff for us to find about the Pokemon world in the games.

He's based on a modern Pokeball and not a old Pokeball so I'd assume the Pokeball came first. It happened as a accident as well. That could also mean Pokeballs aren't made of Steel. Lucario is also part Steel yet isn't really Steel looking to be honest.

I do think the lore and mythos is very interesting. But when digging too deep, questions arise that aren't really meant to be answered. They're the way they are simply because Pokemon is a work of fiction. I'm not against Pokemon theories though, I just don't really get impassioned by those discussions.

I don't really dig deep into Pokemon stuff

I just find flesh ribbons dumb weird and kind of creepy but mostly dumb weird

i mean its not sure what was the big deal about having that opinion and im not sure why people felt the need to defend sylveon so badly lol

Just googled the Dex entries and I guess I was wrong. Huh I wonder why I thought it said that...

Why talk about anything fictional at that point? Not trying to be rude, but that sounds like kind of a very dull outlook on fiction. I read comics, that whole Industry is thinking too much.
