Pretty sure they always said WWHD would be 1080p/30FPS.
The 60FPS comments were just baseless rumours by forum members which were often corrected by others soon afterwards.
But is Smash Bros 1080p? How come they couldn't get NSMB U at 1080p >.>

They said they were aiming for 720p for all launch games.
I was only addressing the issue of NSMBU because compared to other games it does look simple so if developed later in the Wii U's life it would likely have been 1080p.Mario Kart 8, 3D World, Wii Party U (lol) and Donkey Kong are not launch titles and yet here we are...
But after playing the lazy fuck that is Wii Party U i am not so sure anymore.
I think the other reason is that Nintendo has been very clearly handicapping its major franchises for the last 10 years to ensure that they can continue to release incremental sequels with each new platform.Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. It's a lazy excuse. If NSMBU could have rendered at 1080p@60fps it should have. No real excuse except time and technical indifference/incompetence. I feel the former probably weighed into it given it would have been rushed for launch.
I agree that it probably wouldn't have looked much different in 1080 given the art style. That said, NSMBU has an inconsistent frame rate on a number of levels. When have we ever seen that in a Mario game? It was clearly rushed out the door to make the launch date.and it wasent 1080p because it didnt need to be
Well I know all that, just saying what pretty much is said by nintendo, that they could have it at 1080p but didn't cause they didn't think it important and wanted maximum performanceEhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. The 1080p shots of Smash 4 look aliased to hell, so avoiding any form of anti-aliasing would free up a lot of headroom for performance.
What does that have to do with what they said....Mario Kart 8, 3D World, Wii Party U (lol) and Donkey Kong are not launch titles and yet here we are...
So that's an item?
But the handheld Mario Kart games have improved over the last (graphically). Compare MK7 to MKDS and tell me that's just an incremental update.INintendo could have made a Mario Kart 7 with graphics at the level of Mario Kart 8 if they had released a machine with the Vita's power at the time of the 3DSs' launch.

Source on this? I've played through the game multiple times and never noticed any slowdown at all. Not even in 4-player boost mode.

What does that have to do with what they said....
First off, I'm talking about framerate, not slowdown. And my source is my own experience playing it. It is very noticeable at certain moments in 1-2 (Tilted Tunnel) and other underground levels with crystal backgrounds. Also, as Berordn said, it happens quite in the Peach's Castle levels. Those are the major culprits that I have noticed but I encountered other issues at other points sprinkled throughout the game.Source on this? You're right and I'm wrong regarding this point. I agree that I went too far in saying that MK7 could have looked as good as MK8. But they could have released a version closer to MK8 than what MK7 ended up being if they had given the 3DS as much juice as the Vita. This is my larger argument; that Nintendo could have given the 3DS much more power than they did. They also could have made the Wii U more of a mid-generation console (something like a PS 3.5) than they did.But the handheld Mario Kart games have improved over the last (graphically). And I really doubt it would have looked like 8. 8 is literally the exception when it comes to Mario Kart and graphics. They've always looked a bit blocky because they prioritise the frame rate over the looks.
Everything?
You're delusional if you think going for 720p was for "maximum performance"
The game was rushed, period.
And I listed those games because there's nothing demanding about them that prevented them from being 1080p.
Maybe Mario Kart is the only exception because there are other 11 players on screen and full 3D enviroments so they're just playing it safe.

Ummm do you know why most games are 720p instead of 1080p this gen? Its performance, whether it wwas rushed or not, which it most likely was, they settled on 720p for performance reasons, nintendo thinks highly of a locked 60fps for games like mario, unless you know how these games work, I don't think you should be making these claims at all.Everything?

I agreeIf Smash 4 does indeed run at 1920x1080 @ 60fps then "maximum performance" is nonsense as there's no reason NSMBU couldn't too.
I don't really care, mind you, but I don't doubt it could have ran at 1080p if the likes of Smash are. And if it could have, I would like it to. End of the day the only excuses are technical incompetence and/or time. Given it was a game that, most likely, had absolutely no leeway to miss launch day I'm banking on the latter.
I'm still kinda suss on Smash 4 running at 1080p@60fps, but only because Nintendo's official media releases are inconsistent as hell. 99% of Smash 4 media is made up of Miiverse shots, so it's hard to parade around many 1080p images when few exist. Those that do look nice, aliasing aside. Kind of game I'm really looking forward to seeing in person.
This is why I really want Pac-Man in the game:

All four mascots have "officially" coexisted in one form or another and they all fit in with each other stylistically. It would make for such a great event match.
That's cool that we are getting other bomb, but it seem to be timer bomb so we can't tell when it will attack us during our battles. Sometime when the battles getting hectic then we would forget that ship is coming to crash us.
It's soooo awesome.
Nah, I don't think it will wait that long.
Sounds to me like it will fly up, and come down immediately or within 3 seconds.
Similar to the warp star, but with the random time element.
If Little Mac got in (which I believe he will) I would honestly love to see Mr. Sandman or someone as a unlockable too.

EatChildren said it best.
Speak of Snake, who would kicking Kojima down if Snake didn't get in the game?

i dont really like how the other m stage looks sometimes, did it directly came from the wii game with few touch ups?
Just like the Skyward Sword stage
Why piggy? also supersah>ridethepiggyNo. I mentioned it for a laugh.
No, I don't think it's a direct port akin to Skyloft. I might be wrong, but Other M is a much uglier game than what this stage looks like. It's been a while, but the texture quality definitely looks improved and I don't think the floor had that detailed of geometry.i dont really like how the other m stage looks sometimes, did it directly came from the wii game with few touch ups?
