Night all.

false prophet my fucking ass

A Smash strip! For shame, Sakurai, I expected you to be better at punchlines!
Actualy, this made for a neat update in my eyes. As suspected it's a three-part move. Getting hit by a tree should be close to a one-hit-KO to make it worth it, I suppose!

Yeah I'm really failing to understand this moves usefulness or the reasoning behind it? I can't even think of any other move in any of the games that it would be remotely similar to?

I have a feeling it will have some very technical uses if you can control when the tree grows and when you chop it down.

Otherwise it seems really unsafe.

Well it better be since it looks like you're going to be exposed/vulnerable to hits from other players while doing the whole thing.

Yeah this has me hoping miis are their own character & not an alt of villager as I suspect. Don't need that move holding mii back.

The Developer Direct (and this update) shows the Villager doing all the three moves one after the other, but I'm not yet convinced it -has- to be that way. It could be like with Snake's mine move, that you can plant and then select when to activate. You could plant the seed, and go elsewhere, and in a chance you have water it, and then when you can, BAM, timber KO kthankz.

Granted, in such case it's still a very strategical move, if not difficult to pull off. Because who's gonna get close to that tree?

Really? What the hell. I need to watch it then.

It does a lot of damage when it lands a hit, could use it as a wall. Just imagine its use at the edge.

I think it was the Developer Direct. Could also have been in a trailer, but we've definitely already seen the entire move. As it seems you can use the tree as cover and cut it any time you want. What I'd like to know is: In a match with more than one Villager, can all of them cut all trees?

Maybe in a 1v1, no items setting. It just seems super situational.

Edit: if you can use it as a wall on flat stages to negate characters that have an advantage on those stages, that'd be pretty cool.

He'd be pretty good with that tree. :P Also, I would think so. Just the way its placed, and since it has its process. I can see it being used as a wall.

By giving us combo gifs like this.

I miss Mewtwo. :c

Well, I'm going to bed after that.

I'll tell Sakurai you all said goodnight.

Silly Rabbit, Sakurai don't speak your language.

Huh. This is news to me, I seriously didn't kniw it was shown. I would think you can use it as your protective shield as well.

I would think, they are specfic to their own tree. What if certain colora give you specfic set of leaves? :o

Yeah hopefully the video is misleading and you aren't forced into doing the entire action all at once. The idea that you could plant the seed, then come back later like after a KO or knocking someone off and edge to grow the tree and then later cutting it down when the moment is right seems to be more practical. Next questions are, once the tree is up, can other players destroy it before it is used? Could they use it in a similar fashion against the villager? Could you have multiple trees up at once on the stage or limited to one?

I looked through the new batch of avatars a few pages back and haven't seen anyone claim Mega Man up to now, so I am. If I'm mistaken and someone already did claim him, let me know and I'll revert back to my old avatar!

I wonder if you can set up more than one tree? Could be pandemonium in a 4 villager fight.

Edit- really nice work congressman! I like the symettry between wii fit trainer and Pit, as well as how you combined the 3DS/Wii U logos. Do you plan on updating it as new characters are announced?

Thank you everybody, I'm glad you like it.

I thought about it, and I will try, but it may not turn out as nice. So, I guess we'll see!

Also, I'm glad you noticed the Pit and Trainer symmetry. I tried to be careful with placements.

Where's mah boy Toon Link? :(

I had to debate whether or not to put both. I didn't really want two of the same character right now, so it had to be done. :(

The dojo was awesome. I'd love to see it return.

I'd take less posts a week (maybe 2-3 instead of 5), if they were accompanied by more actual information.

neat. the way they're all bunched up in a circle reminded me of this old strategy guide cover

Sometimes it blows my mind to think of how much the roster has expanded.

It seems like just a few years ago I was reading a preview for "Smash Bros." in Tips&Tricks magazine completely convinced it was a hoax (the low poly models didn't seem convincing).

At the end people were so hyped up, that the game could never hold up to it. So Nintendo takes a step backwards and don't let people expectations go wild.
The complaints of Brawl were mostly related to game mechanics, not lack of content.
