I bet trees are going to be situationally useless most of the time but be really annoying for edge guarding.
They might be a good trap move, guess it depends on how long the Axe swing takes. Could be useful if the tree blocks projectiles too, I wonder how sturdy it is.
You can't plant tree next to an edge.

That's just silly. It's not like Brawl's sales somehow suffered due to "too much hype". The game had legs, it didn't just sell upfront and then fall off a cliff after it was out. It both sold well initially and still sold more later.
There were many complaints regarding the character selection and the unlockable characters when the full line up was leaked initially, but that had nothing to do with the Dojo, but the game design itself too. The Dojo not existing wouldn't somehow have fixed the fact that most unlockable characters were obvious returning veterans.

lol, if it actually happens in SSB4, then I don't really see any point of it since I'm pretty sure that it would be very useful for edge guarding but I can see that it can be abused.

Even if you can't plant it exactly on the edge but just close to it it'll still limit your opponents options as they recover. If Villager can use trees to control his opponents he could be very dangerous
