Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 3: Ridley's Believe It or Not!

I absolutely cannot comprehend anybody sincerely wanting/expecting Marth to be replaced by Lucina/Chrom. I just can't.

Marth, Ike, and Chrom/Lucina is the way to go here, clearly.

I feel sorry for whoever is in charge of the Fire Emblem music in this game. How will they ever be able to top this?

Well, you could say the same thing about whoever had to arrange the Kirby and Mother music in Brawl. Much as I prefer Brawl's OST, I dunno if anything tops Fountain of Dreams and the Pollyanna arrangement.

Expecting great things, nonetheless! I hope we'll see some orchestrated tracks.

So you're implying we lost Mewtwo for a novelty addition?

Not popular enough, characters are not unique enough between each other to waste development time on.

Looks like Mewtwo's not popular enough to be "saved" for a spot then!

Finding patterns for Sakurai to use is hilarious and backfires when you try to justify it (e.g. Mewtwo).

Also not unique enough? Yeah, clearly Wolf is not unique enough despite only sharing B moves (and even then only few). Might as well cut Lucas, Ike, Luigi, Samus, and Toon Link while we're at it!

I know it's R0ckman posting but damn it, ignorance in subject always makes me want to post.

Uh, no. Not at all. In the original plans for Melee, there was only one Star Fox character. Falco was only added after they made the decision to add clones. Wolf was supposedly briefly considered to be used in place of Falco, but at no point in the game's production was there intended to be three characters (and I have never seen a source for the Wolf claims).

Anyway, I'd like to speak a bit of the links to the game pages at the bottom of the character pages of the characters confirmed since E3. You know, the "Want to know more about XXX? Check out the etc." things. Olimar's links to Pikmin 3, Sonic to Sonic Lost Worlds, Toon Link to TWWHD, Luigi to M&L4.

Marth's profile links to the Fire Emblem Awakening page. So what does this mean for future Fire Emblem reps? Actually, pretty much nothing: check Marth's page on the Japanese version of the site--it links to the FE3 remake's page, not Awakening.

Also, for people to looking to the release of Super Mario 3D World for a character reveal--you might want to check Peach's profile again. When Peach was first added, her profile did not link to any page. But that has recently changed--her profile links to the Super Mario 3D World webpage as of now, on all versions of the site.

So I would not look forward to a reveal on the SM3DWorld release date. And no, I wouldn't expect a Zelda character reveal that day either--A Link Between Worlds does not release the same day as Super Mario 3D World in Japan; it releases over a month later.

So just a heads up.

From what I gathered Wolf was originally a straight clone for Fox in Melee but opted for Falco instead to look more different.

Lucina and Wind Waker stage! Awesome! Now we just need Chrom

Mario looked off too, you can sort of tell it's Brawl Mario with a more vibrant palette

Also Mewtwo >>>>>>> Sonic >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Wolf >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lucarioshit

There are two significant Zelda dates this month:

November 21 - 15th anniversary of Ocarina of Time AND 22nd anniversary of A Link to the Past
November 22 - US/EU release of A Link Between Worlds

It’s the perfect time to reveal Zelda.

When in doubt just add latin opera!

Super Mario Bros theme + Latin Opera = Masterpiece
Legend of Zelda theme + Latin Opera = Masterpiece
Captain Falcon's theme + Latin Opera = Masterpiece
DK Rap + Latin Opera = Masterpiece

Perfection.

Now this game can never possibly live up to my expectations.

That's what I've heard, but considering a source has never, ever been provided for this tidbit, I think it is probably a false rumor like Pit being planned for 64.

Yeah, I was duped, but it's only a matter of time before the real Chrom and Lucina get announced. :)

And I bet 100 coins Thaja will be a trophy or sticker
I think they'll later make Lucina playable in Marth's place. Sakurai will decide it, it's only a matter of time.

Controversial statement time! I’m not nearly as convinced that there’s going to be a Fire Emblem newcomer as I was a few months ago. Here’s the problem I have with Chrom: what exactly does he bring to the table that other characters don’t already have?

Some people have the notion drilled into their head that the most recent Fire Emblem hero is always a shoo-in, but there’s not enough evidence to support that. Roy was a last minute clone who wasn’t initially planned for Melee, and Ike offers unique gameplay in that he’s a heavy swordsman (who featured in two FE installments). Chrom doesn’t have much going for him other than the fact that he’s kind of new… but so what? He just seems like a really safe, bland, vanilla pick to me. Of course, not every newcomer is going to be groundbreaking, but there needs to be something that sets Chrom apart from Marth or Ike, and I’m not really seeing what that could be. Visually, emotionally, and mechanically, he just isn’t a distinct character. I’ve heard suggestions that he could utilize lances, but that’s not really a staple of Chrom as a character — it’s too much of a reach for the sake of making him feel unique. He’s foremost a swordsman, and that’s the condensed version of Chrom that would surely be put into Smash Bros.

I wholeheartedly feel that Chrom is the only plausible Fire Emblem newcomer candidate, which is what worries me. The only way to make his inclusion seem warranted is to pair him up with Lucina or Robin as a tag character, but I’m not sure how feasible that would be mechanically. Sakurai couldn’t get the Diddy and Dixie team to work in Brawl, after all.

Honestly I'm kind of burnt out with this announcement, like I got too excited and now I'm tired.

So...tomorrow's pic will be Male Wii Fit Trainer training Marth?

Something I found on the fanfiction image tumblr:

You scared me for a moment because I saw "fanfiction" which is something I'm kind of scared to bring in to this thread.
Obama fanfiction excluded

At some point, we're going to have to stop teasing qq.

I definitely don't think an FE:A rep is a shoe-in in the least bit. It's possible, but as you've said, he's (Chrom) is far from being a necessary inclusion.

I feel similarly about Chrom, as he'd play very similarly to Marth. But what if we got Robin (Avatar) from FE:A as a Swordsman AND Mage?

I honestly just want an FE character that isn't another sword user, but the only obvious picks from FE:A are all sword-users (Chrom and Lucina). I doubt they'll pick one of the other supporting characters, because they're not as well known.

My little qq can't possibly be this moe?
So is Villager the yandere and foxuzamaki the neko girl?

Robin as a tactician class does allow him to use both tomes and swords so it would work. Long range magic, close combat sword attacks.

If we get a pair unit I hope they don't work like the climbers. Disjointed hitboxes and scary grabs would be stupidly broken.
