Cerny Playstation 4 |OT| GddR5ATNESS Awaits in 1080p, Banderas approves

I said this on the other thread. Combine all the memes, we had Banderas, GDDR5, Cerny Tubs, 720p vs 1080p.

We should make it relative to GAF and not some generic PR tagline like Greatness Awaits or 4ThePlayers.

I'll refer you to a previous post I made on the matter. I'm still standing by those estimates. Short answer - yes, but not by as much as everybody seems to think.

I expect xb1 to outsell ps4 in US 45/55. I can't imagine MS can afford anything less than that. Especially how the rest of euro and japan.

XB1 is made for US. NFL/TV/Shooters. If they can't even win US then the whole vision is a disaster.

MS marketing and war chest won't let that happen

I really hope we see a new game announcement

ideal case order gameplay + epic/ssm game reveal.

But at this point ill make do with just a new aaa game reveal.

I've liked sony's indie focus but I want to know what ssm,nd,bend, mediamolecule etc have all been upto.

(I don't see nd debuting their game. Think thats gonna happen during vga).

Its possible of course but tbh their marketing for the console to date has been rubbish. Sony's marketing is more visible, more creative (imho) and more balanced between TV/internet. It certainly appears to be having a bigger impact in terms of social media buzz etc.

If anything, my July post overestimated the impact of the NFL. I thought (naively) that Microsoft might have some sort of streaming deal for something like TNF + Sunday Ticket + MNF for the box. That would truly be THE killer app. What we've got instead is a fancy interface for the nfl's fantasy football app and redzone channel. I'm a pretty huge fantasy football player and not one person in any of the four leagues I'm doing this year thinks it makes any sense. Why would you want to do all that on your TV via a clunky Kinect interface when you can do it much more efficiently on an iPad (or a Surface) while watching the games on your TV?

The only way the Xbox One outsells the PS4 in the launch window in the US is if they have better supply. That is a possibility with Microsoft choosing to restrict early shipments to core markets. The PS4 looks like it will be supply constrained for a while.

I still expect the Xbox One to be slightly outselling the PS4 in the US by the end of 2014 when Halo comes out and after the inevitable price cut.

banderas doesn't have anything to do with hype, its a gaf meme that we have just seen associated with ps4 stuff. its a funny, quirky, gaf thing.

but hype? "Greatness Awaits" is hype, its a promise of things to come. "Return of the King" is hype, its a call back to the glory days of PS1 and PS2, and also a promise of things to come. You see an OT named "greatness awaits" or "return of the king" and you expect big things. you see "banderas ___" you just go huehuehue :P its because words like 'greatness' and 'king' are defined intangibly in this context, they have bigger meaning than any one person or thing.

Sunday ticket was on PS3. I am not sure if it did anything for ps3?. I mean ps3 had Sunday ticket, mlb tv and ice central. And none behind like xblive paywall and it still didn't make much of a difference. regardless, interesting points and thanks for a nice discussion

The E is red. Red E. Ready.
Sony used the "U R NOT E"-tag in their commercials for the first PlayStation

E(nos) was actually the original slogan

it means "ready ninth of september" which was the original launch date. It's also Sony said backwards.

I'm shocked none of the insiders have had anything to say about this event. Will it be less bombastic than we're starting to expect? How is Sony managing to keep such a tight lid on it??

Well Sony are locked up tight this year, I mean for the initial reveal we had a lot of specs which isn't surprising considering how many people knew the specs, but we were caught completely off guard by 8GB GDDR5! We knew none of the games they would reveal, we knew essentially nothing about E3/Gamescom/pre-TGS/TGS. I wouldn't be surprised if there were big anouncements and the insiders just didn't know, or didn't have multiple sources to verify so couldn't post.

I'm all for Playstation 4 |OT| Return of the King

A little arrogant perhaps but Considering the similarities between PS4 and PS2 I think it's fitting.

I'd wager that The Order will be on this program in some capacity just because of the mini media blitz we've seen recently. Seems like they're ramping up for a gameplay debut.
