Kotaku introduces the Amazon Playstation Network Store

Codes for games if you want to be picky, not "PSN Codes".

It means they can bundle or discount or do whatever to individual titles.

Buying PSN dollars on special is all well and good, but if the game prices are still stupid it doesn't help a lot.

Well this isn't something new to me.

GAME have it for PSN:

For Xbox Live:

And Nintendo's eShop:
http://www.game.co.uk/en/games/nintendo-eshop/?cm_sp=topnav-_-Wiiu-_-eShopLogo

All at discounted prices compared to direct from the marketplaces. Deals on the odd occasion (they had one where if you prebuy the download of Pokémon X & Y, you got the download of Pokédex 3D Pro) and so forth.

Have to say I'm surprised if this is the first time the US has anything like it.

Amazing. Include in the original post, please.

Wow, this is great. Bring it to Europe, Sony and Amazon.

We might get this probably for the XBO as well.

Can I redeem the codes of games on the EU PSN? I already have a US account on amazon with US address and everything.

It seems that you need to redeem the code using a secondary US account on your playstation. Once the game is downloaded you should be able to log back in to your normal account an play the game

Sounds like Sony bought Amazon cloud services and are using them to bolster PSN. Pretty smart move actually.

No, far bigger. Looks like a serious partnership, but one that's definitely tied to use of Amazon's cloud services.

Having a browse through those stores, the pickings are extremely slim, the prices are pretty shite and there's little reason to shop outside of the normal channel. Amazon as a separate storefront is a MUCH bigger deal. GAME is quite possibly the worst retail alternative humanly possible. They are famous for price gouging and bad deals, whereas Amazon have the reputation for being perhaps the best retailer/etailer there is.

Digital pricing competition, hell yes! This kind of thing has done wonders for PC games, and should help digital pricing come down faster on consoles. This is awesome!

I'm sure Sony will figure a way out to stop that from happening. I doubt they will just sit back and watch europeans cheat them from 15 euros every game. Would be great though, because 45 euros is closer to what games should cost in my opinion.

Hmmm, might be worth it... i can't be logged in on two PSN accounts simultaneously right?
Definitely worth it for PS4 which, funny enough, I'll be importing from the States in 2014 and save about 100 euros.

Oh my God. Oh my God yes competition

Edit: This is seriously some of the best news I've heard yet leading into the new gen. Remarkable that Sony and Amazon were smart enough to do this.

Yes, and make it available for all countries, not country specific! Are game codes PSN Store specific by country?
It's separated into 3 region I think, USA, Europe and Asia.

But ps4 support multiple account login. You can simply make US psn account, buy and redeem game from that account and still play those games on your other region psn account.

People already do that with regular PSN store/SonyNetwork Store/whatever is the current name of the service on ps3. It's harder on ps vita because you can only have 1 ps account at a time, but its definitely doable as well.

That is a huge step and a huge bonus.
Also, I won't take long before Xbox Live games also appear on Amazon. And if Sony opens up to Amazon, what does stop them from opening up to other services, too (Steam?).

Well this isn't something new to me.

Are they not just physical products that come as codes? I'm not familiar with how game uk does it.

Game codes aren't specific according to my knowledge if you keep within the same region, but money codes are.

Game codes are. You'll need an account of the right region to redeem them. Luckily that is quickly and easily done.

Did not expect this more options always a plus right?

Absolutely. Not being forced to buy digital content form one provider means that you have a choice of options. Amazon might do deals, Sony might do deals. Hopefully it adds the element of competition that digital stores on consoles have been lacking.

If you have a PSN Plus subscription on 'Account A' can you login and play online using 'Account B' ?

I really hope this happens similar to a steam ecosystem. Sadly though I'm worried if we will just get something like Origin where the games are a,most exactly the same price. I'd like to see all new games brought digitally be $49.99 like now new PC games be. Tired of $59 plus on only digital.

To bad is only for US citizens.
Unless amazon changed it, they dont care about fake us address. I've been able to buy psn card from us amazon using indonesia credit card, just put some random us address for the billing address and the transaction goes through just fine

You get the download codes for the games, yes, just like here.

It'll be nice when companies stop treating the World Wide Web like the American Wide Web. The buy 2 get 1 free and this have both been US centric.

I guess this is all leading up to the launch in the US so this announcement makes sense. I just hope when the PS4 launches worldwide we all get a similar situation.

Wow, one of my biggest gripe about an all-digital future (the biggest being ownership versus the current "rental") on consoles is fixed by this, assuming not only Amazon gets access. Good show, Sony.

The only question that remains I guess is, will the game redeemed from the US PSN be playable online through the ps+ of the EU account?

If you have a PSN Plus subscription on 'Account A' can you login and play online using 'Account B' ?

I dont think you can use it to have PS+ Subscription on other accounts, but you can use it to download games and then play on any other account.

e.g. I have 3 accounts, US, EU and JPN, and I use US/JPN to buy games not available in EU, and EU when there are promotions.

I use my main EU account to play any of the games i downloaded on aforementioned accounts.
