I've been in it since MW3, but has it changed? Did we make a new one?

You're the luckiest person in the world. I've been repeatedly spawn-killed in Stonehaven. There's a metric buttload of space available in that map and where does the game put me? Next to an enemy. Not to mention the times I walk past a spawn point, check that there's nobody there, continue and get shot in the back two seconds later.

Did you know this funny thing : when you use KEM, you don't destroy this map but instead just teleport everybody to an already destroyed map placed exactly above the original map !

Yup. I don't think I've had the spawn killing quite as much as some people here have, but I literally refuse to believe that someone could have 50 hours in the game and not have seen this at all, much less repeatedly.

I feel more and more like some of us are playing different games. At this point I just want to slap people that say "BIGGER MAPS ARE GOOD" which is ignoring the myriad of other problems the maps and the game has which makes these bigger maps in fact, not good.

What the devs were trying to avoid is heavy camping. Unfortunately, in previous games any good player could easily take out a camper even if there were only one or two entrances into the camper's location. Now a good player can be more easily overrun controlling their zone, especially by being shot in the back. Not necessarily bad intentions, but some would say it makes for bad gameplay.

Those videos are pretty damning. I notice some issues while playing last night. Whenever I saw the enemy it was instadeath. It seemed in the replay that they saw me a second earlier and started firing so by the time I fired my first bullet my lifeless carcass is falling to the ground. Also, I don't think I've ever been shot in the back so much.
 
I've greatly improved in detecting enemies after just a few days. I played Kill Confirmed all last night and had fun. No complaints in regard to map or spawns.

Yeah. Bigger maps were awesome in WaW. Of course they also had the best gametype ever (War)... Anyway, big maps aren't inherently a problem. Not being able to find anybody for a long ass time even when you're looking for them IS a problem. Also, getting kills or killed almost immediately after you spawn is another problem. And no, the huge maps in WaW did not have these problems.

I don't know how people can watch those videos and say "yeah, this is acceptable gameplay." I don't really blame them for lag compensation though. They have to have a system in place and often the host will have an advantage against people with worse connections. That's just how online multiplayer works, especially with a game where 2-3 shots = death.

Yeah, enemies are surprisingly hard to see in the shadows in this game. Not sure why that is. Not invisible, but something about them makes them blend in better than in previous CoDs.
 
Wow, this is a fucking mess on PS3. I've only played 9 matches and have found floating geometry in the sky, a guy running around knifing everyone who couldn't be killed and what must have been a match filled with hackers.

Everything in the match was moving too fast causing this weird kind of lag, as if the game was running too fast, gravity seemed to be off as people were jumping from the ground over buildings (I jumped from beneath a puddle of water, launched into the sky and fell and died) and I also got killed by one guy who had every single perk according to the killcam.

Fix this shit IW. Fucking ridiculous.

I can't comment on everything else, but the bolded sounds like someone using the maniac kill streak.

All this talk of crappy Ghosts maps has basically turned me off from picking up the game.

Exactly - the maps were great and the and combat solid. COD4 and MW2 are very fun to play.

Hey there, rank 40, ps3, haven't seen this yet.
Guess you're just unlucky man, I've been having a great time aside from some spawn bs. But even then its 1 out of like 5 or 6 matches where its a noticeable issue.

Hacking happens, IW will fix it, you can hardly damn them for the work of some assholes that want to purposely ruin the game. It sucks but come on, place the blame where it actually lies.

Calling this game a mess is completely untrue, though I'd see why you'd come to that conclusion if you ran into hacking your first few matches.
 
Called in my first nuke on Freight. Good feeling. I can tolerate a lot more of the maps now. But.. I still dread Tremor/Chasm/Stonehaven. Hate those maps with a passion.

Edit: I take that back. Add Stormfront and give me Stonehaven. I don't mind the occasional match on that Wasteland wannabe.
 
They changed the way you mute people with the recent update. You now get like a list of all the players and can choose who to mute. Or mute all.
 
Got my first legit KEM strike today, then the other team rage quit :(
 
Welp im done trying to use care packages, 8/10 tries I get spawned on no matter where I go on a map.
done giving the other team free stuff(had 3 KEM strikes in a row stolen).


Clan stuff still isn't working correctly ingame.
 
Chainsaw + Muzzle break + Rabid fire + Stalker + Steady Aim + Wiretap + whatever else for that last point (I use gambler) is beast. Playing on free for all and you have Sat com running 24/7.
 
Can someone who has both Ghosts and Black Ops 2 tell me how many people are on the Barebones playlist? I'm thinking of picking up one or the other on Black Friday and I'm planning to spend most of my time in Barebones. I can never get a match in MW3 and BLOPS1 is hit and miss, so I'm hoping to move up to one of the more recent games.
 
After everything I said before about the marksmen rifles, I'm starting to come around on the SVU. It's a reliable two hit kill, and I'm finding it much more manageable with a sight and muzzle break on it.

My K/D ain't great with it--something around 1.25 right now--but I chalk a lot of that up to my spastic play style (I should really stick to SMGs) and the zaniness of the spawns/multiple entry point maps. I love the look and the booming sound of it, mostly.

It'll take some more practice but I think I can make a solid weapon. Not really loving much else. Will give the TAR a try next, I think.
 
Man this multiplayer is mostly shit. The shines worn off. Ah well. I guess Treyarch is the de facto developer holding the quality reins. It has its moments but overall it's a mess. Hopefully they iron out the numerous issues.

Pretty sure it's the best one, statistically. I've used it, and I have much better results with it than with the Bizon. I tried it with the grip and rapid fire.

Isn't the Chainsaw hip fire only? And doesn't Stalker only work with ADS?

Its hip fire only but hitting aim still reduces spread and slows you down. Add stalker and you have tiny spread and you're moving around quickly.
 
I just grabbed the latest FOV changer (AgentRev). 90 makes a world of difference.

I can't believe they expect us to play at 65.
 
I'm going to finally open the game and dive right in the mutiplayer tomorrow after work. Any tips for a newcomer (PS3 version)? I played MW2 and Black Ops religiously on 360 years ago.
 
I switched from an assault rifle to an MTAR with a grip and holographic, and even though on paper I should be doing waaaaay worse on most of these maps it's actually doing me way better. I'm actually even going positive occasionally! I need to try the other ones though, even with a grip it seems to jump/spread around a bit. It's also crap at range, but that's actually balanced for once so that's fair.

Played a bunch of Domination and Kill Confirmed with some friends tonight, the spawns seem to actually be getting worse if that's even possible. The people I play with are mostly folks who have never used the term spawn kill or excessively bitched about spawns in the past 5 years, but it was coming up nonstop from them tonight. We finally had to duck out and do Safeguard because they were getting so frustrated with it. They've already decided they're not buying the next CoD, and that kind of talk never ever came up with any of the previous releases, even MW3 at launch which was mostly a shitshow. I think the damage has been done, but they absolutely have to fix the spawn situation ASAP. In two separate Domination matches earlier when we were three capping I exploited the exact same spawn killing scenario in that video linked earlier in the thread where I was killing the same people spawning into existence right in front of me repeatedly, it was ridiculous.

As an aside, does anybody feel that the Maniac perk is way too good right now? On a fairly regular basis I'm seeing people go on insane 20-30+ killstreaks with it. With all of the ins and outs of the maps right now it's seemingly easy to duck away long enough for your health to regen. Or at least I'm assuming that's what's happening because I'm seeing people keep that thing up for goddamn ever, and one on one it's practically impossible to kill somebody using it if they're competent with it unless they're already weakened or in an open area or something.
 
I've probably plunked down over 100 hrs in each of the IW COD games and for whatever reason I just can't into Ghosts as of yet. The maps are huge labyrinths, the spawns are effing terrible and I feel like I've already had my fill of quick scopers and campers. No matter the gametype I run around like an idiot for a minute looking to get into an encounter only to get picked off from behind or from an insane range and angle only to respawn and do it again.

I'll give it a couple of more tries but not particularly impressed so far.
 
really loving the burst rifle, one burst close proximity will put someone down

TDM KDR is finally over 3.0, will never touch the 4.0 days like blops1, its impossible with these maps

thats not necessarily a bad thing though, im really loving a few of them after spending some time with them

that being said, Chasm can fuck right off

I've also been a rabid COD guy for years. I'm just not into this but for different reasons. It seems like the lag compensation just gets worse with each game. It makes me not even want to play and I really havent anywhere near as much as the past CODs. I didnt even buy this one. First time I havent been a midnight release guy. Someone else in my house has it and we are on different schedules so I'm pretty much free to play it whenever and I just havent that much. I'd be playing this non stop in my free time in the past. Now it's just...there and I've been doing other things with my time. Usually it would last at least 2 months. This one hasnt even made it 2 weeks.

I do like the big maps though. Thats not the problem at all for me and its weird that you say cant find anybody for a minute. I said before that I thought it was funny that they made the maps bigger, keeping the same number of players and it seems like someone is on top of me or around the next corner every second, like I cant take a minute to breathe, lol.

I think some of us are just tired of the regenerated COD experience in general for different reasons. I'm pretty sure I am.

Faced a hacker for the first time in Domination.

He was 10th prestige. His class had every single perk. His main gun was a mingun with a fucking silencer on it. It shot across the entire map, even once killing me through the entire center mountain of the map (prison break).

I picked up his minigun once after killing him and immediately started moving 5x faster. But I also had a floating silencer that started floating around my head.

He went 68-7. He backed out right before the end to not get reported.

All in all was pretty wild. And fucking stupid.
