Poor Meguro :( I still have faith in him, even though SJ's soundtrack was shit.
I really liked this track from SJ though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zle-RdHmlDg

Meguro gon deliver an amazing soundtrack with P5. I hope so at least :P

Edit: And speaking of SJ... best DS boxart ever

The soundtrack is one of the things i'm looking forward to the most. 3 and 4s was just to good. I wake up every morning to heart beat heart break. Also I can't wait to see if the new protagonist can out swag the last 2 lol

Just think. A new Persona soundtrack by Meguro is probably more than halfway completed at this moment. Let this sink in for a moment.

We might soon hear never-before-imagined sequences of amazing Meguro guitar play. Or epic piano segments that complement the story sequences to bring those feels.

At this moment, lyrics that will be engraved in our brains for years have already been written down. You wonder, as do I, what will be joining your quest to reach out for the truth to avoid mass destruction. Make no mistake, Meguro-san knows that it's time to make history, and he will deliver. We hope that the lyrics will make sense this time, but deep down we've all grown attached to the nonsensical English that is why, oh why, so darn catchy.

As we go through our everyday lives, work is being done on a game and soundtrack that will impact us just as their peers have done before. We make new acquaintances every day, and yet, somewhere in this world, friends-to-be are being designed and finalized -- embedded with life. We will share moments with them, and our time with them, we shall never consider wasted.

And we will do all of that while listening to yet another magnificent Shoji Meguro soundtrack.

This, I choose to believe.

Wow, awesome track. Actually, read what I wrote above while listening to this track. It fits.

Meguro is still pumping out great stuff. Duckroll just trolling as always. SJ wasn't his best but still pretty decent.

This is my favorite track in the game.

lol yep. I'm gonna try not to spoil too much of the soundtrack for myself before release but not sure if I'll manage. The battle in P4 with The Almighty playing was much more epic when I hadn't listened to the full song before it.

Meguro is awesome but overrated, all I'll say.

Nah he really is great. Dude has an incredible amount of range and can create incredible tracks all the time.

Nice to see some love for Meguro here. He isn't very popular in some certain places on the internet.

What kind of places are we talking about here? He's not as popular as say, Uematsu, Kondo, or maybe Mitsuda but I'd still place him up there as far as popularity is concerned.

It would be cool if in P5 you play as a Salaryman working for a Company instead of the usual high school setting.

University setting would be nice too.

The official Atlus forum and tumblr (tumblr doesn't really count, people hate everything there :P). The forum isn't nearly as active as neogaf, mind you, but when it was announced that Meguro wasn't the composer of SMT IV's soundtrack, a lot of people were noticeable happy about the news. Of course he isn't nearly as popular as Uematsu, Kondo, Michiru Yamane, etc and that makes sense, since his works are mostly for a niche series.

Anyone doubting the greatness of Meguro needs to just listen to Heartbeat, Heartbreak a few times.

Whenever it's raining or foggy, I immediately think of that song.

Both of those would be amazing. A more mature story in general would be great. Still, I'm not holding out my hopes for that.

The 3DS can make some great graphics. If Persona 5 is a 3DS title, I guess it could look as good as Persona 3 FES/Persona 4, which is fine to me.

Yeah, Ufotable. Anyway, Pierrot Studios would be a good choice too. The best animated Bleach episodes were amazing (like that one with a fight between Hisagi and crab-like arrancar).
It was unpopular even after Persona 3. It was only after Persona 4. No, after the Persona 4 anime that it became a bit more popular.

You must be joking. The 3DS is closer to a PSP 1.5 in terms of graphics and processing power (and with an inferior screen) than it is to a PS2 or a Vita, not to mention any current or upcoming console.

Games like Persona 3 FES/Persona 4 would only be possible on the 3DS if done like P3P, which means with severe compromises in the graphics and presentation departments (gameplay is actually great though).

Nothing against the 3DS, I love the few games I play on mine, but thinking Persona 5 could be on the 3DS with any resemblance to past entries is not even funny.

3DS can do Tales of the Abyss but can't do Persona 3 or 4? Uh...OK.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate looks amazing on the 3DS, so I am fairly sure a game with graphics on the level of Persona 3/4's is possible on the device.

In Persona 5, You will play as a pachinko repairman who can jump inside of pachinko machines.
Brilliant.

You just proved my point. Graphics-wise, that port is awful to say the least.
True, but if all we're hoping for is graphical parity, I think the 3DS has shown it is capable of that. Beyond that though?
Still, boring conversation considering it won't be on that platform. What would a Shield version of Persona 5 look like? I don't really care.

Abyss already isn't a very good looking game and put on a 240p screen it's not going to look that good. That said, I don't see that much of a difference in this Youtube comparison vid:

I don't see why a 3DS port of P3/P4 would have to be point and click like P3P. More than likely P3P is that way due to space limitations, which wouldn't be an issue on the 3DS.

Erm, not that I wish to rile up this platform discussion, but Persona 3 Portable's compromises were the result of the UMD's drawbacks, not because the PSP was incapable of playing said games.

Seeing as the 3DS cards are up to 8GB, I doubt they'd have to compromise all that much.

Yeah, I think the 3DS could comfortably handle a PS2-grade Persona game. Not many developers seem interested in pushing the hardware, but we've seen glimpses of what it's capable of via things like Monster Hunter and Resident Evil.

I really hope Persona 5 isn't on the 3DS though.

Agreed. Although I wouldn't waste any time worrying.

Wow, 3DS cards are up to 8GB? I believe even Vita cards are up to only 4GB. You have a link for that?

A couple of PSP games came in two UMDs (each UMD is about 1.8 GB), so I don't think space was an issue.

Anyway, I think we should postpone this discussion until we actually learn which are the target platforms, which will be soon enough.

Personally, I think there might be more than one announcement (P3 movie -distributed by Sony- premiers on the 23rd after all), and I think at least one of those announcements will be on a Sony console.

I don't know of any games that use an 8GB card, but even the 4GB card is more than enough for Persona 3 or Persona 4. Heck, even Persona 4 Golden is doable (3.2 GB), and probably could be done without any compromises except for resolution....

I fully expect Persona 5 to be on the PS3/PS4 however, seeing as that makes the most sense, but I wouldn't rule out like an updated Persona 3 for Vita and 3DS. However unlikely.

It's not just a matter of space too, although I'm all but certain that was an issue given the types of cuts they did. UMDs had awful loading times. It's actually impressive how fast P3P loads from the UMD.
