Did you do anything to try to fix it that didn't work? It would help a lot of people to know the nature of the problem because the OP was scarce on details.

When I plugged in my DS4 it had the white light blinking for a while until it turned orange which I can only assume meant that it was syncing and/or out of battery :/

Going by PS3 and their indicators, they wouldnt Use solid blue as a hardware failure.

This sounds like a software bug. My bet, the OS update will fix.

Depending on where you bought it you won't need to buy an expensive extra warranty. If something like this happens on the fucking first day you own it you should be able to take it back and get a functioning unit without issue.

Exactly. It's just like terrorism--it will likely NEVER affect 99% of us, but yet everyone seems to be so scared of it (media i.e. government's fault). We should be a lot more frightened of McDonald's and Chile's because we are VASTLY more likely to die because of a diet-related illness like heart disease, diabetes, or cancer.
