This is still a software problem that needs fixing, it required the system to get a hardware fault before it fixed itself, which is really bad. The hardware itself was fine but he couldn't get into safe mode without 'hurting' the hardware, effectively.

Yea, I look forward to his summary of what happened and how he fixed it. Sounded like he did some wild shit.

I was just thinking of streaming Injustice's story mode on PS4 in about 20 minutes. Now I don't know.

This wasn't a firmware update.

He was downloading DCUO, the system appeared to hang, and then he unplugged it, which apparently corrupted data on the hard drive.

Instead of unplugging it from the power source he should have turned it off from the button or waited. Might be similar to the Vita pause after it starts installing.

He took out the HDD, booted it up, it gave a error about not finding the HDD, he then turned it off and put it back in and it booted.
