Okay, so it's the safe boot mode he needs to get into. Not the HDMI thing. He switched HDMI ports, and the TV automatically switch to HDMI2, still nothing.

I'd suggest reversing his HDMI cable... the side that's on the TV, put in the ps4, and the side in the PS4, put in the TV.

I had a weird issue on my 360 once and this fixed it.. no idea WHY, but who knows.
