Look. This is a comedy of errors. People are thinking that two beeps is the key. It's NOT!

There's instructions there on how to get into safe mode.

Note that it says the two beep thing is ONLY for IF the light is ORANGE.

So what he needs to do is this:

1) STOP FUCKING SWITCHING INPUTS

2) Plug the PS4's HDMI into HDMI Input 2

3) Set the TV to HDMI2

4) Make sure the PS4 does NOT have the hard drive plugged in and that the PS4 is completely turned off.

5) Now, Touch the power button the PS4 and hold it in for 7 seconds. Hopefully this will put it into safe mode. DO NOT SWITCH INPUTS WHILE IT'S DOING THIS. The system has to do handshaking with the TV.

What about trying to reformat the HDD through a pc.. and then download 1.5 update onto a usb. replug formatted hdd and plug usb drive... Pretty much redo recovery mode to install update from usb drive.

Step 1: Turn off the PLAYSTATION 3 by holding the Power button on the front of the unit till the Power light is red.

Step 2:
Touch and hold the Power button, you will hear the first beep, meaning the PLAYSTATION 3 is powering on.
Continue to hold the Power button and after about 5 seconds, you will hear a second beep, indicating the video reset.
Continue to hold the Power button and after about another 5 seconds you will hear a third beep and the system will power off (Power light is red).

Step 3:
Touch and hold the Power button, you will hear the first beep, again for the PLAYSTATION 3 to power on.
Continue to hold the Power button and after about 5 seconds, you will hear a second beep for video reset.
Continue to hold the Power button and after about another 5 seconds you will hear a quick double beep. At that point release the Power button. If you succeeded in activating Safe Mode, you will see a message on the screen saying, "Connect the controller using a USB cable and then press the PS button."

how is this hard

I went from the high of witnessing a born again console, to the low of watching him stomp on its corpse. let Sony fix it.

That's the front.
He hasn't actually shown the connection though

You're right but he did show the back before, I thought it was still that way but then he had the controller plugged in.

The whole configuration doesn't look like how it was when it worked. I think it's all screwed up.

How can a man be so bad at holding a button and listening for beeps?
"Alright, hold the button and wait for two beeps."
*beep*
*Pull finger off*
"WOW COME ON IT DIDN'T WORK?"

It's like DSP troubleshooting.

Well this thread and what I have watched of the stream has given me some laughs. I would keep watching, but I am getting terrible flashbacks of when I used to do PC tech support.

Turn off the power of your PS4™ system completely.
Check that the power indicator is not lit. If the power indicator is lit up in orange, touch the power button on the PS4™ system for at least 7 seconds (until the system beeps a second time).

How does I google?

They created all of this. There is nothing on Playstation site about safe mode. (even though we've been doing it since PS3.)

Guy is streaming his broken PS4(He broke it by unplugging his ps4 while downloading DCUO which had stopped loading), complains to customer support for 4 hours whilst simultaneously being trolled by the people in his stream(Internet and all that), Ign decides that this is worth posting an article about. Finally through the troubleshooting in that 99% troll comments section he takes his HDD out, tries to turn on his PS4, gets an error, but at least it boots. He then puts the HDD back in and everything work. Guy then proceeds to pat himself on the back for being better than Sony Customer Support.... Then proceeds to once again break the ps4 by trying to download DCUO again. He is currently trying to fix it again, doing things such as turning on the PS4 while the hardrive isn't screwed in, plugging in the hard drive while the system is running, failing at holding the power button the amount of time necessary to boot in safe mode, and much much more, all while ignoring the Twitch admin's good advice. Then he finally listens to good advice, gets it working again, turns it off(to standby) and now it's broken again. He's now in hissy fit mode. Thar's your summary, have fun.

There's more but I don't feel like updating this post, just copy pasting.

WOW so it's his fault and not some faulty PS4 unit, good to know. He is either very unlucky or completely stupid. The latter seems more reasonable, evidently.

THanks man and everyone else.

Hey, if you're reading this dudes that are trying to help. Tell him to pan the camera to the back of the PS4, and the TV. I want to see the connections. Keep those 2 in shot, while you start the ps4.

He's not doing anything in order, and when he is he's doing it wrong ....

This is basically what I dealt with for years working tech support and help desk jobs, his is like the embodiment of the worst calls I would get.

I cannot count the number of times someone told me "I already tried that", then when I told them what to do, and how to do it , it would work ...

This guy just isn't very smart =/
