Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | November 2013 | Tearaway into a new world

Darn, thatgamecompany says there's no plans for Journey on Vita atm. Seems like its still possible though.

flOw has already been announced for a port, and will be released on Nov. 29th on both consoles, but there have been no announcements for Journey. It's a possibility, but it's all up to Sony.
It would be awesome for all of our PS3 games to be ported to the PS4, though. :D

For those who don't have it already, I recommend getting the Sony portable charger for Vita. It works well and is more convenient than plugging into a wall on a handheld. I often use the charger to power up the vita then just plug the charger in later.

Are there any physical retail releases in December? I thought I might have read that Sorcery Saga would be released in December, but could be imagining things.

If not, I can use Dec to pick up the few Vita games I'm missing.

Damn, I feel like a true idiot. I should have this for my trip. I will pick one up for the flight back.

And thanks for the replies. I am picking up Castlevania.

I have played SotN, but it has been awhile, so that coming with it as well is kick ass.
It is not open automatically though correct? Have to find a specific item? I can Google it, just curious if anyone can provide additional insight to that.

Yeah, you gotta unlock the bonus games, but they're not too deep into the game and you can find a youtube vid or gamefaq that will let you power to it. It's a traditional Castlevania though, so you gotta be in the groove to get to through levels.

imo, the best way to play is to not really care about Dracula X at first, then play through Rondo of Blood when you unlock it. That way when you play the 2.5D remake more seriously, you'll see how it was changed and added to.

Add me if you want to guys. My PSN is the same as my name here.

So I just impulse-bought a PS4 on Amazon (which was made a bit easier since I had about $200 of credit on the site). Is anyone here getting one soon? My PSN ID is AbstractChaos, if any new VitaPS4bros want to add me.

Still debating whether to keep it or resell it though...

At least test Remote Play first, geez.

Meh. FFXV is their focus now that Lightning Returns & XIV:ARR are finished. This is the company that pretty much did the impossible (completely remade a MMO in about 2 years, that including a whole new story, world, gameplay systems, game engine & everything + a PS3 port), so I'm sure they can get their first next-gen game out within 1,5 years of its launch after they moved on to full development in 2011 already. FFXV is not an MMO, so developing it is not nearly as hard or complex in many ways as developing an MMO is (though, not that what they are trying to achieve is super-easy either, but offline game development isn't quite as much a hassle in general in comparison to online games, MMOs especially). They'll get it out by March 2015, I'm almost 100% sure of it (I'm somewhat optimistic of a late 2014 release, perhaps even worldwide).

A small part of me still believes XV is still vaporware til I hold a copy in my hand. I've been waiting too long for a new mainline title that isn't a MMO or sequel to an existing game.
SE is just so unpredictable these days. I certainly do hope they get their act together this gen.

Til then I suppose LR and FFXHD will hold me out.
Hoping we will get a new Dissidia for the Vita or a FF remake for the 3DS though.

Okay, I am off to the Phillipines in approximately 12 hours (sucks for me and the PS4 being delivered).

Any way, I already purchased Lone Survivor.

So I need the help of the Gaf Vita Bros™.

I have narrowed it down to either Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles or Muramasa Rebirth.

I shared earlier in the thread when I asked about recommendations, I am not a fan of RPG's pretty much at all. So does this mean I will absolutely hate Muramasa Rebirth?
It seems to me to have better combat than most RPG's, I cannot stand turn based combat and it does not seem to have that.
I absolutely love the visuals on it, and to be honest, it seems like it almost has some roots in a Castlevania type game. Or am I totally 110% off with that comparison?
I love the original Castlevania games, also big fan of Metroid, so pretty sure I will no doubt enjoy X Chronicles.

Just for quick reference of my tastes, it is all over the place. I know that does not help, but so far my favorite "larger" games have been both Raymans, U:GA, KZ:SF Hotline Miami, SSD, NFS: Most Wanted, and Wipeout, in no particular order.
I already own a ton of indy smaller games as I listed a few pages back, so no need to suggest those. It really is about the two games I narrowed it down to.

So please brothers, I seek your advice.
As you may know, there is also a $20 difference in the digital versions of the games, so while that is not necessarily a huge concern, if based on my tastes it seems as if the cheaper game will no doubt suit me better, than that is great.

TIA, DL

Good luck bro! Have fun on your trip.

Castlevania for the recommendations. It seems you're a fan of Castlevania games so it's a no brainer.
The cheapos at my school got rid of Ethernet last year, if that's what you mean.
No need to use ethernet cables. You can connect a Vita to a PS4 using their own frequencies alone. Like tethering in cell phones except without the actual internet capabilities.

No, I believe he means there's a way to link your Vita directly to your PS4 without a router. I recall that being the method with the least lag.

I think the 3 forms of Remote Play are: direct link, wi-fi router locally, wi-fi router through internet.

I haven't paid attention to remote play at all and it's 2am here, so you're going to have to explain direct link to me in simple terms.

Edit: Googled it and still a bit confused. Do I still have to get the two connected via Wifi at some point to complete the set-up?

LAN cable required for direct link? Just as I thought, no remote play for me then. :(

No. Just to use the internet for MP stuff like KZ MP.

Since you're using the PS4's wifi module, you can't connect the PS4 to the internet using your router's wifi so instead you connect it via ethernet cable.

Offline play doesn't need those ethernet cable.

Muramasa is a game I can't play for more than 15 minutes. While I enjoy the feel of the combat, it's pretty much repetitive.

Dracula X Chronicles. I can't even play Muramasa for more than two hours without wanting to kill myself.

(

I kind of understand how you feel, however I've been playing Muramasa again these past few days to finish up Kiske and I'm loving it all over again.

Ah, I see
that it's time for me to go to sleep.

Is it the game itself or the genre of the game you can't play?

Yeah, it's always fun chopping up guys and racking hundreds of combos. Do you play the Vita version or the WTF translations of the Wii version?

I've only played the Wii version and it always disturbs me that the characters seem to say a lot vocally but in the dialog box it's only one sentence.

Yeah, it seems lack of sleep is bad for you.

Rebirth. I'm still amazed by how beautiful it looks on the Vita. The translations on the Vita are very well done as far as I know.

Cant wait for the Nekomata DLC.

I totally agree, however I won't be able to download the new DLC (US import on EU account).

(Why couldn't switching accounts be just as easy as it was on PSP).

I never really cared about fighters, coz I really suck at them. And unlike Project Diva/Rhythm games, I never get better at them.

But THIS made me want DoA 5 UA on Vita.

I'm in that group, too. I only liked Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm series because it was fully 3D, I found it more accesible and I have a friend who had it and we needed to have a match everytime we met. Most times, I arrived at his home 5 minutes before we have to leave and meet to the rest of our buddies and have a match.

It's been like a year and a half since we last played it, though.

You can just play Parasite Eve II straight away, you don't really miss anything by not having played the first game. The controls are a bit archaic (pretty much just like old tank control Resident Evils), but if you don't mind that, the game is pretty good.
