Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | November 2013 | Tearaway into a new world

So much love for Tearaway in this thread is going to end up making me purchase it. Damn you guys! I don't even have time to play the games I own already and here I am looking at my credit card...

Anyone here own this case?

NintendoGAF does avatar trends for their releases. I suggest doing something similar for Tearaway. Maybe we add an Iota/Atoi image to our avatar, or maybe make our avatar whatever unique design we give them in the game?

Funny, I started with this game today, on the 3DS. Your picture seems to be missing levels from the 3DS version?

How many years does the Vita version have? Do you also have challenge, turbo mode, achievements and costumes?

EDIT:

Why not? I'm having some good fun with it on the 3DS, and it was cheap.

You have five costume choices for the head, face, body, and rope.

My problems with the game stem from completely forgettable and dull level design, a weird lack of music, sluggish platforming (and when things get hectic the frame rate takes a hit), and what I felt was a poorly implemented grapple mechanic. There are times where I'd jump, and have to instantly grapple to another hook, but because I can't control the direction of the rope it sometimes went to an unintended destination.

If someone can iota"tize" my Pluto avatar I am game.

I'm in.

I'm gonna need help atoi-ng my avatar though. My editing skills are severely lacking.

Yes its really great, it holds 3 games and a memory card, its hardcase and you cant crush the system, it looks awesome, built pretty well. you can still close it if you use a wrist strap which is a plus. I really recommend it. Any particular questions?

Looking at Iota, and Atoi there's a few adaptable design ideas. They both share a cross button left eye, warpaint, and a headband with a leaf popping up from the back.

I bought it back in August(?) when it was on sale for like $20. Haven't played it for more than an hour lol.

Couldn't wait for Tearaway any longer and I had to have a new Vita game..... Picked up Killzone Mercenary. Goddamn this is great, playing a full on FPS while I sit in the laundromat. On mission 3 right now and holy hell, the graphics! Did not buy a Vita to be impressed by graphics but this is really amazing what is happening on this tiny little device.

As for the game itself, damn solid shooting action. Also am I the only one that loves Ivanov? He's like my favorite FPS companion since Modern Warfare's Cpt Price.

Poor Ivanov, hokey dialogue aside I actually was pretty bummed when he died, was kind of a shock. I really felt like the dude had my back....

Does this series have much exploration, i.e. typical rpg towns and stuff like that? Every screen I've seen is a battle or cutscene.

I've only played Totori and the answer is kinda,

you do get a world map with different locations to explore that have different items for alchemy and monsters to fight, based on your level you can open new places, There are a couple of towns with your usual selections of NPCs and shops too.

The focus on the game is to do alchemy, complete quests, explore locations, fight monsters and advance the story, in that order of importance too. Its a great game but definitely not your typical jrpg.

For shame man, go and play it!

That sounds nice, I am mostly worried about the build quality I guess the main question is if it doesn't feel cheap and how thick it is, can you still fit it in a pocket easily?

I really really want to but I'm waiting on a sale for it on the PAL store, the second that happens I'll bite.

I usually stick with Goku but I'll join in if I can find a Tearaway DP I like.

If only the Vita could have the Chrome app from my phone... 460+....

Vanillaware is the name of the dev. Better memorize it.

I have no particular dislike about the art style. In fact, I absolutely love it. Those people saying the art is sexist should also try to look at the males body. I mean if the women were the only ones who have distorted proportions I can understand but that isn't the case so it actually fits quite well.

I'm getting DC later this day so if possible we can team up. :)

Awesome, I'll add you. Yeah, like I said, I'm not entirely convinced the portrayal of women is "imbalanced", but it's certainly very sexual in nature. I've seen people try to argue otherwise, though. I totally get the designers may have just been going for an over the top motif, but that doesn't make it any less risque. You could even say the same about the nymphs in Rayman Origins. Whatever, though. Doesn't take away from how great the games are.

SSD did get aa boost in IQ

edit: roar attacks now can remove aliments and boost magic healing spells. Also you have a new blood magic making a sword.

Vita should be here on Monday :D

Bought one from a Gaffer who posted about it a few pages back. Comes with a 32gb card, P4G, Lumines, MK, Rayman Origins, and a case.

First order of business will be PS+, I really want Uncharted and Hotline Miami.

Is SCEJ WiiUing the Vita TV?
Like barely any videos about it at all.
I'd be plastering it all over the YT channel.

I'm hoping that 30% sellout info was a mistake.

Depends on the initial shipment. Say, if it was 100k it might be considered a pretty "low" opening (30k), but if the initial shipment was 200k+, then selling 60k or more is definitely a good number.

Although personally I hope for even more than that. But since this is a new type of device, it is pretty hard to guess anything about it.

There's reports about it only selling 30% of what was released?

Yep, you can find this info on the Media Create thread.

This only confirms to me that the Vita will stay getting relevant in Japan as a niche device, like PSP. IF they can get the releases coming.

Don't forget to download gravity rush too when you get PS+. Great game.

PSP sold twenty million units in Japan. In comparison, that's more than the PS3, Wii, and is about 1.5 million away from surpassing the PS1, and PS2 in that region. That's not niche.

Because the BST thread is nearly only visited by Americans I'll ask here. Any german Vitabro interested in buying my 32gb memory card?

Yeah I noticed this the other day too. I was at my gf's house and wanted to show her what Vita TV could do, but there wasn't a single promotion video on the PSN store (despite promotion videos existing elsewhere). Also the release date was 11/14, but they only sent a message out to JP Vita users on 11/15, which said "going on sale today!" One day late guys...

I love seeing these posts talk about remote play. People saying they're playing these indies and knack just casually. Awesome :)

I would love a twitch tv app or something for the vita to watch the PS4 livestreams.

You'd think that would be coming, would seem silly to not have that free marketing.
