VGXtreeeeme nominees are up (GOTY: Mario, TLOU, GTA5, Bioshock, Tomb Raider?)

The Last of Us deserves the award, but I bet they'll pick GTA V because the Doritocracy doesn't want a Playstation exclusive winning it, lest they look foolish.
 
where is best action game category? Metal Gear Rising should be nominated in the best action game category, but there isn't a category for that. Also MGR soundtrack should be nominated. Fuck this shit.
 
This is ass, no revengeance for goty and best soundtrack, why can't mainstream game journalists and critics like what i like, its baffling this concept of opinion.
 
I don't mind whoever wins, I've played them all apart from Mario and all were fantastic, think I'd vote for TLOU though if I really had to.

also why no killzone mercenary for best handheld nominee - not saying it should win but it definitely deserves to be up there instead of animal crossing.

A lot of the press corp has already played through SM3DW in full. They probably decide the ballot.

At any rate, this show is always a steaming pile of shiiiiiiiiit. No amount of new game reveals could justify watching it. I don't know how some of you do it. Just check out the trailer uploads five minutes after they air.

I would assume if they put it on that list, and its not even out makes more of a statement about that game, rather than general incompetence.

For two, Smash Bros 4 isn't on the most anticipated list. Which confuses me to no end.

That's actually a pretty good list all things considered. I would've probably included The Swapper, Brothers, or Antichamber. I don't think there's a chance of them ever including something deserving like EU4 and Path of Exile.

Probably should have included DOTA 2 as well.
 
It's really weird seeing Battlefield, CoD, and AC:IV pop up as nominees, but then again these awards really don't have any kind of credibility at all so *shrug*
 
Seriously, I knew Shin Megami Tensei IV wouldn't get a best handheld game spot. but to not even be on the best RPG list is ridiculous.

The only categories in which a Killzone game would be better than New Leaf would be graphics and body count. Animal Crossing New Leaf is an absolutely brilliant game.
 
Last of Us sweeps because it makes the council feel more artsy to go with the more cinematic pick

Naughty Dog - best studio
Pokemon - best RPG
Blood Dragon - best DLC
3D Mario World - best Nintendo game
GTAV - best Soundtrack
BF4 - best shooter
Divekick upsets all and wins rightful place as best fighter
Destiny - most anticipated (since it's based on votes and Destiny fanbase is substantially bigger)
 
These are the 2013 Video Game Awards. Super Mario 3D World is scheduled to be released on November 22nd, 2013. I'd more upset if it wasn't nominated, considering it will probably outscore every game on that list except Grand Theft Auto V.
 
Ok, I gotta ask, who is Fullbright Studio (one of the nominees for best studio)? Am I an idiot for not knowing who they are?

What is up with this crap? Keighley already confirmed that the judges have been playing the game for the last month, the game comes out THIS FRIDAY, and the awards aren't until December 7th. There is no controversy here. Stahp.

No game deserves it more than TLoU. Completely captivating from the intro through the ending.

How a game could take an overloaded genre I was pretty damn sick and tired of (Zombie Apocalypse...really?) and somehow create a truly groundbreaking experience using it as a backdrop for real character engagement was sensational.
 
TLOU was def my GOTY hoping it wins :)

Also sad that SR4 got no mention for soundtrack/song placement. Some of the best things about that game was its soundtrack
 
I'm calling it. The Wonderful 101 will take GOTY in a most remarkable underdog story in VGA history. So remarkable that the game wasn't even considered on any list but the "Nintendo" one just so they could fill it out.
 
The 5 seconds that TW101 will get during the nominee read off will be the biggest exposure the game will ever get.

(Also, no SMTIV/DisgaeaD2 for best RPG?)
