VGXtreeeeme nominees are up (GOTY: Mario, TLOU, GTA5, Bioshock, Tomb Raider?)

I don't understand why people are voting. Does this factor into the real awards voted critics or is it just for a seperate 'peoples choice' award.

Because if it's the former, then that is stupid as GTAV is going to have a massive advantage being on two platforms.
Most Anticipated is the only Viewer-voted category. Everything else is selected by a council of reviewers.

Mario, The Last of Us, GTA 5, Bioshock Infinite, Tomb Raider . . . . that is a great list.

Mario is a little strange since it is not released yet.

If I was stuck on an island and had to choose between TLOU and EVERYTHING else released this gen, I would choose TLOU
and Beyond.
. It should win every category it's nominated in.

The Division isnt on for most anticipated thats odd id say other then FF15 and KH3 thats my most anticipated.

It's sort of bullshit that a games like Super Mario 3D Land and The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds get an automatic entry.

I'm sure they're deserving, but people can't be so sure of that so soon after release, can they? And why no PS4 entries?

not automatic, this shit is serious business dude! It's voted by the gaming UN council of game journalism integrity blessed by the doritos pope himself.

the selection of "playstatation" games is awful just TLou and 3 other multiplats, what about the myrid of playstation exclusive titles that have released this year?

South Park gets my most anticipated vote.

Hell yes. Can't wait for this after seeing the last gameplay video, so good.

They didn't even try with that PC list.

Quite the opposite, they went out of their way to pick great games like The Stanley Parable and Papers, Please! when they could have just put in some multiplatform stuff like Tomb Raider etc. BF4 is strange though.

Where the fuck is SMTIV for best RPG?

And that poll failed in one key area: Best Voice Actor. Should've read
  • Troy Baker as Joel
  • Troy Baker as Booker DeWitt
  • Troy Baker as The Joker
  • Troy Baker as President of the United States of America

Shoot me but I think the Best Indie and PC Game lists look better than the GOTY lists ._.

EDIT: no nod for The Narrator in Best Voice Acting? Shame on you.

The Division isnt on for most anticipated thats odd id say other then FF15 and KH3 thats my most anticipated.

Who knows what Division actually is? All we saw was a walk down demo alley.
Most of it looked fake.
It's ubi after all.... To soon to be hyeped.

I'm happy to see Tomb Raider on the list, it was fun and I can't wait for the next one. Better than Bioshock imo (certainly not for story but in other areas).

Anyway TLOU would currently get my vote out of those games, but of course I haven't played Mario yet. It looks ridiculously fun.

Anticipated and sales are two very different things.

I don't mind Tomb Raider on the list, it has a snow balls chance in hell to win but I honestly couldn't think of a game that should replace it.

Eh I'd say any of those indie nominated games are probably more memorable experiences. At least from what I played with TSP and Gone Home.

Tomb Raider was fun, but it still feels like giving a nod to a Fast and Furious movie for Best Picture. Objectively there is nothing wrong with it though as I think having a fun throwaway experience is just as valid.

As much as I loved The Last of Us story it had no replay ability for me. GTAV is my GOTY for many reasons, it had me waiting for years and exceeded my already high expectations.

My picks (based on the lists):
Most Anticipated: Witcher 3
GOTY: GTAV
Studio: N/A (Their games speak for them)
Shooter: BF4
Action/Adventure: GTAV
Sports: NBA 2K14
Indie: Stanley Parable
RPG: FFXIV (insert avatar jokes here)
Fighting: N/A (didn't play/like any of them)
Racing: N/A (ditto)
DLC: Dishonored TKoD
Xbox: N/A (I only consider exclusives for these categories and I don't care for brothers)
PS3: TLOU
Nintendo: N/A (Don't own a Wii U)
PC: BF4??? (pretty bad list tbh)
Handheld: Pokemon X/Y
Casual: N/A (Didn't play any of them)
Voice Actor: N/A (I don't care who wins, they're all good)
Voice Actress: N/A (Ditto)
Soundtrack: N/A (None of the choices were particularly memorable to me)
Song: N/A (Ditto)

Half my votes went to The Last of Us.

Overall GoTY HAS to go to The Last of Us, it's the best game to release this year, and to ever release on Playstation.

As much as I loved TLOU I have to give my GOTY nod to GTA V.

Bioshock Infinite is also a very worthy contender. So good choices this year.

I'd say the fact people follow daily pics of the game even though most of them will provide no new details goes to show the game is pretty anticipated.

The problem with smash is that it is more of the same (which isn't bad by any means) but every game on that list is a new IP (Watch Dogs, Destiny, Titanfall, South Park) or radically changing the previous games formula (Witcher).

I think that's valid but this is the VGX we're talking about.

Where is Skullirls for fighting game?!

Came out last year on consoles.

GTA5 deserves to win and I am confident that it will.

Last year I attended a VGA party for students in the CGSD (Computer Game and Simlation Design) department at my college and won a $50 dollar gift card to gamestop for picking all the correct winners...point of my typing this? To brag that I won $50! ...which I then wasted a good chunk of on Hitman. Ouch.

Really want Witcher 3 to win most anticipated, but can't see it sadly :/

Oh Sleepwalking up for best song? Hell yeah, what a tune :)

Huh ... people are more excited for South Park over MGSV? That sounds odd.

Most of my votes went to TLoU, with a few going to Bioshock as well. The only vote for GTAV was for voice actor, otherwise, fuck that game.

I loved both BioShock Infinite and The Last of Us so much, that I had to split my votes across both.

But damn was that Best Actor award a hard one! O.O

Feh, handheld games getting shunned into their own category (except for RPGs, it looks like). You can't tell me that Rayman should be in the Nintendo category over XY/AC:NL/ALBW, and you can't tell me that ALBW shouldn't be in the soundtrack category.

Wow at the 'most anticipated' vote list thing. Smash 4, inFamous, X, MGSV, and probably several others snubbed hard. Edit: And freaking Dark Souls II.

The most anticipated category is a complete and utter joke.

I also voted for a bunch of games that aren't even out yet because this is stupid and because I can.

Can't consider Mario b/c it's not out yet, but this has to be a good sign for the game if it hits this list before the embargo ends, right?

Of the others, it has to GTA V for the win. The best overall package of content, atmosphere, and fun. And, yes, I have played TLOU and I loved it, but GTA V should take this on the strength of its' gameplay.
