The problem with those games is, no matter how great they are, they won't win. The 3DS is a tiny sliver of the gaming market. The Vita, even less so. They just have no chance to win with their limited install base. So it makes sense to leave it to the consoles.

These are popularity contests, in a sense.

GTA5 is not a game of the year its a gta game with a innovative 3 person story line....TLOU was a WAY better game anyone who voted GTA5 has a 360 and hates Sony so never played TLOU or just didnt have the money to buy a ps3 to try TLOU so you cant vote you have not tried it.... lol

Seriously, the song alone in the Red Band trailer got me super excited. If the game is short, though, I may not pick it at full price, but yeah.. The song is pretty damn rad, easily on par with Skyfall for example.

Damn, I forgot or never even knew PSM died. And I may as well stick with that name since its life as the official magazine was fairly short.

Though it sounds like more are involved than just those staff, or at least they take input from other journalists.
 
GTA V and it's not even close for me, they practically nailed everything.

After that comes Persona 4 Golden, Tomb Raider and The Last of Us.

Great to see Tomb Raider up there with the big boys. There are a hundred other games as deserving of that fifth spot but regardless, not a bad choice at all.

Also nice to see that best PC game list. Sure it's a bit weird not seeing things like Tomb Raider or Bioshock on that list considering the PC versions were easily the best versions and those are GOTY candidates but man, something like Papers, Please is such a perfect little game that merges setting and gameplay nearly flawlessly.

All independent game nominees are PC exclusives. I don't like the idea of exclusives but at least so many quality games are on the open platform.

I voted GTAV, and I blasted through TLoU in a rental and enjoyed it, got GTAV on PS3, barely touch my 360 anymore, and have no plans to buy an XB1 in the immediate future while having a PS4 now. Explain that one!

Let's truce in that they're both far above and beyond Bioshock Infinite.

EDIT: Wait, I'm dumb and didn't even vote yet, I want to play Mario first even though this doesn't matter, and I voted TLoU as "Best Playstation game" because that really should go to the exclusives.
 
I haven't played Mario yet, but Tomb Raider is better than all those other games. I feel weird saying that. It's true though.

Quite the obvious selection. I only voted Ellen Page for best voice actress and TLoU for GOTY. Kinda bullshit that the Playstation category completely ignores most of the exclusives released this year, but oh well.

I am aware of that, GT6 is coming out the day before this show. I take issue with them putting any game up here that hasn't been released yet.

If they wanted to add games like Forza 5, Super Mario 3D World and the like then why not just wait until next Monday to reveal the nominations?

GTAV having two nominations for best song and SRIV not getting a nod at all is pretty telling IMO. Had way more fun playing SR than I did playing The Sims: Los Angeles Edition.

M$, Mtn Dew, and Doritos I'm sure;) I won't watch the show anyways It just makes me laugh how they clearly have a hard on for anything GTA in a year that they are released. It just turns the whole event into free advertising for a game that doesn't even need it to sell well.
