Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 3: Ridley's Believe It or Not!

I think generally speaking you'd have to include a lot of the stuff for trophies/stickers (or whatever equivalent we'd have in Smash 4). I mean the obviously m-rated stuff like Mara or Incubus would not be included, but a lot of the demons are based on grisly imagery even though the SMT design might not look like it, let alone the shitload of religious references they'd be forced to put in. I don't think Nintendo wants that stuff associated with one of its frontline popular titles that is aimed at basically all audiences.

Trophies are wildly inconsistent in number as it is. There are many series with very few trophies, like Earthbound and Wario. They could easily avoid more controversial figures or designs.

SMT relies so much on world mythology and religion that Nintendo would veto it even if the dev team wanted them in. It is virtually impossible to go into much detail into the series without mentioning the whole "Tyrannical God driven to insanity that you can join and wipe out the impure in his name" and "working with the demon lord Lucifer and the armies of hell" bits, as well as going into the mythology of still-extant religions, trying to take that out of the picture leaves you only with Persona and some of the Devil Survivor series.

I really disagree. Take SMT IV. If they included Flynn as a character, they wouldn't spoil the last part of the game, the only background the trophies would give about him likely would cover the Mikado part and discovery of Tokyo. They could easily avoid getting into Lucifer or whatever.

Generally, the whole "side with God or Lucifer to change the world" thing is only an explicit element late into the games, even if it influences the story from the start in hindsight. They wouldn't need to get into them to give basic descriptions of the protagonists.

Yes, let's fucking cherry pick every single word I said just to say "omg you're wrong lawl". You know exactly what I meant with that post.

Also, that game isn't a Nintendo crossover, since it only involves 1 Nintendo franchise.
I wasn't serious, probably should've indicated that.

Second it is a Nintendo game that is a crossover :p

Yes, we all know you want Persona idolm@ster :3

I will be excited for P4D when a certain individual is confirmed as a dancer.

(I never finished persona 3, its 2long4me, but it was kind of an interesting game)

Oh my god you didn't even get to the most poignant part of the game what is wrong with you I don't even

idolmaster on the other hand is just weird creepy shit

Such is the world of loliland, unfortunately.

A fair point. I just feel like they wouldn't be able to portray it without stripping out a good chunk of SMT's essence is.

i watched a friend play that and there was this weird Pokemon-amie-esque feature and we both agree that was it extremely uncomfortable and bizarre

so

yes

Wait a second here. You like Persona, but not Project Diva - so what about the new P4 x PD game? Does it average out to indifference?

Weren't there idolm@stur decals in some jet fighting game? If that could get in there, it could get in here.

Yep. Ace Combat. It's also made its way into Tales. And Project Diva, actually!

Who wouldn't want to pet Miku on the head?

It's content from a country not named America, of course it's weird!

But...Smash is from Japan!
Sakurai needs to hand over Smash to Retro Studios!

Idolm@ster costume alt DLC. We should spam Sakurai's twitter with this request.

If you saw Project Diva at the least you already have an idea of what it plays like.

Diva's pretty Solid mechanically, hellish expert difficulty aside.

i was only commenting on that weird amie-like feature, the main game itself was fine even though i cant stand miku personally

Mah bad.

That's what all the other characters are for. Len, Kaito and Luka for life.

Does anyone think they'll bring back a stripped-down adventure mode? I think they'll probably want some kind of involved single player even if they can't really tell a full story with it.

Is Retro covertly racist!?

Kotaku article at 11.

It's all one big conspiracy I tell you! Nintendo is behind everything. The pyramids, cars running on water, UFOs, GAF's servers going down with any announcement, the list goes on.

qq, you've failed me. Your punishment is to now go play and finish Sonic 2006 and write a 5 page essay about what was good about it.

Project Diva has a bit of fanservicey artwork and the petting Miku bit "hoothoothoothoot" was weird, but The Idolmaster is straight up perverted.

I do have an issue with the controls in Project Diva as it gets kind of confusing when the screen is flashing super crazy and markers and going all over the place, it seems fun, but it's hard and a tad confusing. I'll play it some more in the future as I own a copy.

When they said they weren't bringing back a story mode, I just figured that Adventure mode would be what we're getting... which is fine, I suppose.

I actually could. ( well not 5 pages, i'm lazy)

But it would be more about things that could have been amazing ruined by rushed devs and half assed devs.

yeah the flashiness is way over-the-top sometimes, it can get pretty annoying (and frustrating)

fun game though, aside from that

Are they also why there isn't a full-blooded Paper Mario 3? :(

I really think a polished version of that is the ideal solution. I loved Melee's adventure mode.

As a side note I'm really glad they didn't use the Dreamy Theater models for -F-. They look really creepy.

*rubbing his crystal ball*

My crystal ball said that we are getting a character this week.

Just because you said that, we're not getting a new character until February!

Sorry, I haven't kept up with this thread, so this may not be on the current relevant discussion, but I would be all for Sakurai ditching Pokemon Trainer in favor of a Majora's Mask Link with mask transformations instead of Trainer switching pokemon. That is all.

I am the only one with access to the Sakurai 8-ball.

*shakes*

*All signs point to Little Mac at e3*

Can I burn your avatar? Please. :[
::::(
This is true. Also Dark Samus is dark, go figure.
Metroid Prime 2 was incredibly dark. You had Dark Aether, the Dark Beam, the Dark Suit, the Dark Visor, Darkling enemies, and Dark Samus as the final boss. Clearly the darkest game Nintendo ever made.

Go home Insaniac, you're drunk.

The pain :(
Just like no Pokemon Stadium 3 and Star Fox 64 2... Instead we got the lousy Super Paper Mario, Stinker Star, Pokemon Battle Revolution and Star Fox Command
:(

I actually liked SPM. I resent that it was a platformer and in a completely alien setting but I loved the cast and story. Sticker Star and PBR are on my shitlist though.

I like SPM's story and all, just wasn't a fan of the gameplay... it didn't mesh very well with the game overall, but everything else was great so it was worth playing once. Stinker Star I admit I sort of enjoyed it but wow was it ever holding back EVERYTHING it could've had. You can sort of tell the devs really wanted to add stuff but weren't allowed to given how there were bits of story here and there that begged to be expanded on.

ps count bleck rocks BLEH HEH HEH HEH HEH... BLECK!

Super Paper Mario>original Paper Mario
come at me bros

Just opinions so it's fine. The only line that would be crossed is praising Miyamoto for his move on removing the story in Stinker Star. (yes, some people actually think Paper Mario is better off without story)

The original is my GOAT. I feel like it's the closest to the main series as far as capturing the whimsy and atmosphere. Mechanically it is admittedly weak, but it's still my favorite overall despite that.

Sticker Star does have a story though, even if it's a minimal one. Even though there's less writing than in PM or TTYD, what's still there is fantastic. The big shortcomings in it are the reduced roles of certain characters and the bizarre mechanics omissions.

It's too minimal is what's the issue for me. The game ended up feeling a bit too monotonous because of that.

When it does have its actual story going on, it's sometimes good (Snifit or Whifit!), but sometimes really dumb (I hated the sub plot of finding Wiggler's segments, that was so repetitive and really dragged for too long).

I like this opinion.

I share it.

That is one of the funniest games I ever played, period.

As let down as I was with SPM, the writing was definitely funny for sure. Loved that lol
