GTA: San Andreas coming to iOS/Android/Kindle/Windows Mobile; controllers supported

Before GTAV took us to the sun-bleached sidewalks and humming concrete freeways of present-day Los Santos and beyond, there was Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the biggest GTA of the PS2 era. Now, head back to the early 90s with CJ and the Grove Street Families when Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas comes to mobile devices next month.

Encompassing Los Santos, San Fierro, Las Venturas and everything in between, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has been upgraded for its mobile release. Newly remastered graphics including dynamic and detailed shadows, greater draw distance, an enriched color palette, plus enhanced character and car models make this the best-looking version of San Andreas yet.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas also features brand new touch controls including contextual control options to display buttons only when you need them and three different control schemes for driving and maneuvering, as well as a reworked checkpoint system for easier progression. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for mobile also comes equipped with full controller support, including Made for iOS controller capability on iOS7. It will be available for select iOS, Android, Amazon Kindle and Windows Mobile devices. Stay tuned for more details in the weeks ahead.

NICE!

Except none of the R* mobile games are compatible with my phone and I didn't know until after I bought them. But cool either way.

I got excited for a moment but then I remembered that I never put more than 30 minutes into Vice City on Android due to abysmal controls. I really wonder why Sony can't get these ports on the Vita.

Uh uh uh uh uh. Yeeeeah.

Does anyone know if the other GTA's will be updated to take advantage of iOS 7 controllers?

Potentially a controller seller for me if Vice City gets updated!

This has controller support.

YES!

Well yes, but you see San Andreas isn't Vice City, and I don't believe it's been updated to take advantage of the iOS controllers yet.

Can't wait to see how this turns out! My hope is that the controls are good enough for this to replace CoC as my "toilet" game...

I feel like the majority of people that buy these GTA games on mobile boot it up for 5 minutes, say "wow" that this huge game fits on their phone and than never play it again. I can't imagine playing through any of these games through touch only on that tiny screen.

Really dislike rockstar there is a vita and heck even 3ds right here and they ignore them. They used to be my favorite devs last gen now i really dislike them, not just because of this, gta 4 was trash etc.

Anyone want to bet on there being another 'unexpected problem' and having to delay the android version? Bring on the Rockstar & Apple conspiracy theories.

For those unaware they claimed there was an issue with the Vice City android version on launch day and delayed it, they had uploaded the apk to the app store for a few hours in which I managed to purchase it before pulling it again. With some apk modding I managed to get hold of the additional data files and it played fine. They weren't too happy when I started claiming they had lied on their news feed and they deleted all my comments.
They also filed a complaint against the video I uploaded to prove it - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2wo0J58lJ4

YES, IT'S FINALLY HAPPENING!

This is one of the PS2 games I started, but never got to really play through.

I don't mind this being on Android. All that's left for me is FF12 for the Vita.

if it's on all those platforms and has controller support how difficult is it just to make a vita version

a quick and dirty one even would probably make more than borderlands vita

A 10 year old port. Mobile is truly the new frontier of portable gaming.
Have you missed all the 'why no Vita / 3DS?' posts above?

A ten year old port of a fucking great game is still a fucking great game.

I've given up wondering about why the Vita doesn't get mobile ports. There are no good reasons so it's best just to forget about it.

Well, it doesn't speak well to portable gaming as a whole when a 10 year old port on mobile is the most interesting thing happening across all handhelds.

That being said, I feel like GTA is the new Doom. The goal is to have it run on everything at this point.

Goddamn no Vita version, makes 0 fucking sense Sony. Not gonna buy a plastic periphral to get this running on my Xperia Z with Dualshock 3.

Bought vice city for my note 2. never played more than 30 mins. touch controls are never meant for games like these plus vice city drained 25% of my battery

That's neat, but there a probably zero moments in my life where I'd be lugging around a DS3 outdoors, or propping up a 4.7" screen against something at eye level to play at home.

There are a handful of portable controllers out right now

lol at vita beggers.

i guess the psm initiative is pretty dead atm?

System should support android or something :/

how is vita these days in terms of power vs modern tablets?
