Best chance for upset is MarlinPie over Nemo. Yipes consistently loses to FChamp, FChamp has his number and Yipes not participating at NEC means he will be rusty as hell while FChamp was looking crispy.

And even with MarlinPie its just a chance although maybe Nemo will snadbag it for the MM hussle.

In fact, I think Skullgirls still has the best netplay implementation system. It has lobbies, but you can either spectate matches or play other players in the lobby, rather than the digital equivalent of waiting your turn to play on one setup of winner stays on. After each match, the person you play rotates, so you don't have to just keep grinding the same matchup.

That was after Recoome bodied Gohan, then OHKO'd Krillin with a kick. Krillin hadn't even taken damage either, lol.

A lot of people in the US grew up watching DBZ as it was televised regularly on CN during the Toonami block. It came on right after school so people would tune in, watch the daily episode and then wonder what will happen in the next episode.

I can't imagine people having to watch DBZ in a weekly basis. Like that whole Frieza fight probably took a year of broadcast to complete if it was weekly.

DBZ was pretty much one of the most first Shonen type anime to be shown regularly in the US at the time. I think at the time it was that and Kenshin with a Pokemon on a different network. It wasn't until CN introduced Adult Swim with a lot of quality anime that people started to realize that DBZ was kinda bad but most people saw it when they were kids and the whole concept of power ups and super beings shooting fireballs and destroying planets was interesting. Since it was broadcasted daily most people didn't mind the absolutely horrible pacing. Once Naruto/Bleach came out DBZ sort of lost favor. I honestly think that Naruto is a far better show than DBZ and if Naruto had broadcasted instead of DBZ at that time people in the FGC would be making Naruto analogies.

For all its faults, DBZ has some genuinely epic moments. Goku going Super Saiyan is a classical anime moment as is the first Goku/Vegeta fight which gave birth to the "ITS OVER 9000!!!!" meme. My 9 year old self was overwhelmed by the manliness.

I don't remember Sailor Moon's animation being that much better than DBZ, they were both pretty shit. Both had problems with consistency as they used different animators for different episodes.

But when DBZ had good fights they were excite. Like the Goku vs Cell fight:
