Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 3: Ridley's Believe It or Not!

Why should he have to explain himself? There are thousands of Nintendo characters who aren't playable in Smash Bros. Little Mac isn't special in deserving an explanation. If he doesn't make the cut, it's probably because he's virtually unknown in Japan and because all he does is punch -- and I say that as having Little Mac at the top of my wish list. I wouldn't blame Sakurai for not finding Little Mac exciting.
Gee, it's not like we already have two of those in one of the most famous fighting game franchises of all time, both of whom have completely different special moves.

One sakurai could make a moveset, cap falcon.

The only other move this guy has is a headbutt.

Either Sakurai is taking more time with the reveals so that he doesn't blow his load before the game even comes out like last time, or there really aren't that many newcomers this time around.
I'm going to be optimistic and assume we'll get around the number of newcomers we got last time, and they're just spreading them out more evenly in the interest of saving ammo for Nintendo Directs, etc. Part of me wonders if they showed Rosalina when they did out of concern for 3D World sales in Japan.

Either that, or Koizumi asked Sakurai to show off his waifu.

I actually do think Little Mac will get in.

But I am betting he won't be announced at E3. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I was just saying that to illustrate the differences between the Animal Crossing stage in Brawl and the "Boxing ring" stage in Smash 4. Sakurai explicitly stated before Brawl's releases that Animal Crossing characters wouldn't work, so as of now, the situation isn't similar.

Sakurai doesn't owe us an explanation, but until he states otherwise, the Animal Crossing comparison isn't comparable.

Way to miss the fucking point
What point? That said reason is dumb and defending it is dumb?
That doesn't look like Smash Bros. to me. Street Fighter is a one-on-one martial arts fighting game.
Please tell me what is so difficult to implement about a boxer in Smash. Don't say "He only punches;" Dudley's entire move set is just punches and he has a counter, a recovery move, an evasive maneuver, and God knows how many dash punches. He also plays completely different from Balrog, the boxer in the same game.

I never said it was difficult. I just wouldn't be surprised if Little Mac doesn't jump out at Sakurai as a potentially exciting character.

I'm already tired of Rosalina lol. Not that I want something new, but it's like that one song you listen to too many times and it went from great to...it's okay...

Smash looks fine. At least the color palette is better than Brawl.

Pic of the day. A Luma becomes a star. Lumas are tough, but can also be blown away. Luckily, there's an infinite number of them.
The worst thing about Rosalina pictures is that her moveset is most easily discerned in motion. Throw a random picture of a star moving at us and we have no idea what's going on.

I'm the opposite -- I find myself thinking about this character more and more. She just looks so fun to play! And yet again Sakurai has outsmarted me:

- I didn't predict Villager because previous Sakurai comments had me thinking he was off the table
- I didn't predict Mega Man because Mega Man hasn't been in anything in a while
- I didn't predict Wii Fit Trainer because Wii Fit Trainer (but best thing ever now, seriously)
- I didn't predict Rosalina because it was hard to imagine a Mario rep on the same footing as the ones already there -- and I certainly didn't predict Luma!

So yeah. Sakurai is adding characters I didn't expect and I never knew I wanted. But all four of them are top-shelf additions so far. Can't wait to see what he shows us next!

They were showing that you can come up with a variety of moves for a character who just punches. It's like complaining that all Marth does is swing his sword.

Do you guys think there will be any obvious newcomers? I think Palutena is pretty much a given since Sakurai was behind Kid Icarus Uprising. Not sure about Little Mac, but I really hope he's in since we need a Punch-Out rep.

I think that pre-E3 rumor with Villager, Mega Man, Wii Fit Trainer, Little Mac, Mii and Pac-Man was a little too on the money to be a "prediction" and not a "leak."

So yeah -- I'm expecting Little Mac, Mii and Pac-Man.
