Vita "hacked," (PSP) homebrew on the way (not piracy)

Its not like you will have to wait long. They just like to make the game name available to long time members a couple days earlier than everyone else to be sure that they get access to the required game before Sony takes it down. The game always gets taken down only a few hours after they go public with it, so just be glad that you have it early and don't have to worry about missing it again. No need to get ornery.

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not getting mad or anything. I'm a patient man when it comes to this stuff. I'm just telling you guys my thoughts on this matter. Thank you for the PM though.

You just can't fathom the awesomeness that game.

Clearly I cannot. It's greatness escapes me.

Im surprised they're willing to reveal another one so soon.

I wonder if the exploit is so similar to megamix that it would have been patched up anyway in the next fw.

Got the game, now... I wait.

This is good timing, I was just last night thinking about how much I wanted to play some of my old PSP games again. Now I can do it on DAT OLED

SUCCESS with Kings Pool

Windows 8 run as administrator was really pain in the ass. had to copy the files to a different folder.

EDIT: and with every homebrew. tried some SNES stuff

I also bought Kings Pool since the previous one was pulled out before I got to charge my Vita. Where's tutorial on what to do to play homebrew?

so does using this disable all PSN features? I'd like to play my PSP valkyrie profile on my vita, but I'm not too sure if giving up all the features is worth it.

When the system requires a firmware update, obviously: Yes.

Your choices are:

-Update to keep PSN functionality when the firmware updates.
-Don't and lose PSN access.

Or, a third option:

-Buy a second system and use that one for PSN access. The other for non-PSN.

But that begs a question: Why not just buy a PSP in that case?

I'm having trouble with the files copying, I backed up all my PSP games by connecting it with a USB and setting the USB to the UMD drive, placed them all in the game folder file and renamed them all GAME1 GAME2 GAME3 GAME4 GAME5, after copying them to the vita I'm left with the original exploit folder of 32mb

Is it a case of I'm simply trying to copy too much at once?

EDIT: Called UMD DVD lol. could it also be my method of ripping them? they worked on my PSP

I've been running King of Pools on 3.00.

I'm slightly happy at the "it works on 3.01" news I guess since it means if FFX requires 3.01 I'll still be able to buy it and still keep the exploit. Plus I can keep my exploit and still access PSN via a proxy for a bit longer (since this works on the firmware previous to the latest).

But I'm also kind of annoyed because that information could've flown under the radar for a few more firmware updates, giving us the ability to have an exploit in hand for the future when more Vita games are released, more Plus games are added and potentially Vita 2000 and Vita TV are released.

dat OLED is sweet, but it does not make up for:

- no sound on all PSOne games (seriously, cannot believe I only just discovered this)
- limited to 34MB memory (once you go beyond 2.0x believe)

At least, that was my consensus after diving deeper into this.

Can someone explain the 34MB limitation? Did PSP have 34 or more? Do some psp games not work without more than 34MB? Will gpsp work with 34MB?

Never go back to that thing! The price difference between the two more than covers the cost of the controls, upscale, and of course, dat oled.

Bummer.

First things first. I haven't installed TN V4 yet. Any tuts on how to make TNV4 work? For Kings of Pool of course. Thanks.

Edit: nvrmnd. got it working.

It's actually 32MB.

PSP1000 came with 32MB of total RAM. This was upgraded in all later revisions to 64MB, but games were still required to use 32MB in order to maintain compatibility with the PSP1000. The extra RAM was used for caching to decrease loading times.

Homebrew could take advantage of the extra RAM though, so some homebrew apps might not work on the PSP1000 or on the Vita while the emulator is limited to 32MB.

I assume by game folder file you mean the exploit folder? Did you make sure the file extension was capitalized and not just the name? It needs to be GAME1.ISO and not GAME1.iso.

I would forego the nonsense and install VitaFTP. Then you can run that and just use an FTP client to transfer the games directly into the ISO directory. That's faster anyway because when you transfer games using CMA you have to copy twice (once to the Vita, and then again from the exploit folder to the ISO folder).

I doubt it's faster considering what Wireless speeds can be like. Perhaps over Wireless N it isn't too bad, but my router is only G.

I couldn't' get any homebrew to load eventually, through luck though, I finally managed to get VitaFTP to show up, and since then i've just FTPed everything across

I'm getting an error and not sure what it means. I just copied the gpSP-J folder directly from my psp where it works fine into a folder called PSP\Game. Zipped up PSP, called it INSTALL.ZIP, transferred over with my 101-1 megamix save, booted into XMB, it showed up under games fine, installed it then deleted file, checked music, went back to games and it showed up. When I boot it it boots then gives the error

"ERROR [snapshot_directory] Specified directory is invalid.

The error occured. It's set as the following directores.
ms0:/PSP/GAME/gpSP-J/

Press any button to continue."

When I press a button the emulator boots fine and seems to work with no problems. Should I be concerned about this or not worry about it?

Probably not, sounds like it just wants to save screenshots there but the folder doesn't exist. Can you change the snapshot directory in the emulator settings? If not maybe just use VitaFTP and make the folder.

Or you could do nothing and see the error every time you load it up.

Heh, thanks for all your help! I'm actually don't really understand how to install vitaFTP. Googling around suggests I need half byte loader for it? When I look at that website on wololo, the list of games you can use to install vhbl do not include 101-in-1 megamix.

When you download vitaftp, it already has an INSTALL.ZIP. When I tried using that to install it, the xmb just saw corrupted data. There are other files in the VitaFTP folder, but the EBOOT is in the INSTALL.ZIP by itself. Should I combine all the files into one folder called VitaFTP, then zip that up into an install.zip?

The install zip isn't packaged right for some reason, and I don't know why they haven't fixed it. I think it's caused a lot of people headaches.

I think it should be a zip file containing PSP\GAME\FTP\ and in that folder it should have the data, eboot, icon, and param files. At least that's how the one I had was.

Edit: Doesn't look like it's been mentioned but TN-V5 already came and went, and V6 is out. If you have V4 all you have to do is use the System Update option in the XMB.

Is DJ Max Portable 3 not supposed to work? I've installed it already and I keep getting errors when I'm trying to play the game.

Edit: Alright got it working by using hide cfw folders on the recovery menu.

Thanks, that totally worked.

Also, surprised the psp mode can use an n network, figured it would have the same limitations as the original psp but it connected to my wifi-n no problem.

So, has Ben 10's exploit been released? I'll update and lose my RAM for the sake of being able to co-op a few games on both my systems.

Woop, woop, that's the sound of da police

Yes, indeed

I applied the hack and I'm kinda let down how much hassle it is to, say transfer files to Vita, when compared to PSP.

I actually had to find my PSP to see if the damn thing works. And if it did. 5.50 Prometheus :D

Honestly speaking I doubt my Vita is getting too much of a playtime hack wise. I'm too much in love with PS+ offerings.

Should be able to, I mean it's not like the game is changing wifi standards.

I've been trying to but I can't. On Gundam Vs. Gundam Next Plus, they can see each other on the room but can't join. On Dissidia, they can't see each other on the same room.

Any tips?

I'll have to test it myself and see. I don't have any games on my card just yet while I wait to update to 3.01 from 2.00 or earlier on my system (while losing the extra ram... *sigh*) for the sake of doing that on my systems.

Hey, at least you can remote play. ;)

VitaFTP makes the process just about the exact same thing as a hacked PSP, only it works over the internet.

psp game
king of pool
exploit is confirmed by wololo himself to work with current firmware 3.01

as of right now, it's still up on us psn store.

but will probably be taken down again soon enough (monday).

it's a good exploit game 'cause it's only $2.99 and 70mb in size.

in comparsion to megamix (400mb) and ben10 (700mb).

get it quick. folks.

tnv6 (YES. TN IS UPDATING LIKE CRAZY)
is. no doubt. vita's ultimate killer app.

Fuuuuck. Is King of Pool a quickly-loading game? As in, does it load the exploit fairly quickly?

I might just buy it anyway, because I don't actually mind pool/snooker games.

Edit: Not available in Australia. Fuck. Oh well, still have Ben 10.
