Thoughts on new SDT logo possibility?

If you're unfamiliar with the color scheme, it is based off the Sega Astro City.
It's cool but I think Arcade Otaku already beat you to the design.

Looks great. :)

Another idea you might want to try is 2D Pixel art of an Arcade stick and the words SDT that way it's a better rep of the site?

Any which way that logo still looks great and is a nice throw back.

You need to lose the glow on the logo that the site has kills the look imo.

Yea, they got the colors down and use some elements.

You know what's surprising? A lot of people don't know what the color scheme is. Only people 'in the know' seem to get it. :/

Word. I think I'm going to make it a straight band that wraps instead.

Here's a weird question and I'm not sure if anyone knows, I have 3 of these Korean sticks installed on 3 different sticks, and each one has different stiffness when controlling them.

What determines the stiffness in Korean sticks and is there a way to change the stiff or looseness to my liking?

For that particular stick, they all just feel different. Breaking them in will help, but not everyone has the man hours/time to do that.

With the Crown sticks, it is not as distinguishable but Myoungshin/Taeyoung fanta sticks of yesteryear used to come at different restriction levels (hard and medium). The thing that dictates the stiffness is the rubber grommet surrounding the level mechanism.

Thanks and if I may ask where is that rubber grommet thing?

Tried searching in the thread but couldn't find anything useful to my question. Long story short, I've installed a spark sensor from Toodles on my JLF but I find the stiffness lacking. I'm trying to order a simple semitsu LS-32 spring in canada but it doesn't seem to be stocked anywhere I searched and I'm not interested in paying 10$ in shipping for a spring coming from the US.

Any ideas on where I can find a Seimitsu LS-32 replacement spring to add stiffness to my now microswitch-less Sanwa JLF stick in Canada ?

How can I get my PC to recognize my Hori RAP VX-SA (360)?

It tries to install the drivers but fails. I have installed the Xbox Controller drivers and everything.

What OS are you using? That's really weird, I've been able to use my HRAP VX-SA on both Windows 7 and 8 with no issues.

Maybe try reinstalling the 360 controller drivers? A PC identifies a 360 arcade stick the same way it would a regular 360 controller. You wouldn't need separate drivers. Have you tried using a regular 360 controller on the same PC?

I'm using Windows 7.

First I tried to just install it normally. That didn't work, it wouldn't install the drivers when I plugged in the controller, so I tried restarting my PC. After that I tried downloading the Xbox 360 Accessories drivers hoping that it would fix it. No luck. So then I did try deleting them and reinstalling them but still doesn't work.

I'm looking to buy a fightstick. Budget shouldn't be a consideration, unless the stick in question is over $500. I'd like one that I can use on any system, with adapters if need be. I play primarily Marvel, but I'd like to improve at Street Fighter and Skullgirls (which is actually why I'm looking at buying this).

I am so out of my depth. Amazon reviews were less than useless, so I figured this would probably be the best place on the internet to seek expert opinions.

If you are looking for a stick that is multi-platform, Eightarc's Fusion/Qanba's Q4 models will do the job out of the box. If you want to spend a bit of money, there is custom stick services like Jasen's Customs, Foehammer and more which can accommodate your budget.

Incomplete christmas gift.

Wiring not complete, didn't choose the art, don't like the button layout. My gf ordered it from Foehammer awhile back, but it wasn't done in time for X-Mas, so she just swooped it up to have something to give me.

It's about the size of the Fighting Edge, which I love. Can't wait for it to be done.

Quick question, does anyone know if the mounting plate on the Crown CWJ-303A will fit a Myoungshin Fanta?

While I haven't tried to swap them, it certainly looks possible from comparing sizes. If it does work, make sure your stick has the right sized hole for the Myoungshin gate.

EDIT: Nvm. Gate on Myoungshin is too big to fit into the Crown plate.

GAF, talk to me about PCB mods.

How far away are One/PS4 mods? My TE's and HRAPs are itching for some KI time.

There are pad hacks. Also ^^^^^^ WHAT MARKMAN SAID.

Hopefully someone here will be able to help me on this: I'm trying to use my new Tekken TE S for Wii U with my PC via a Mayflash Wii Classic controller adapter. It works flawlessly with the TvC stick I have, but my computer isn't recognizing the L and R buttons on the TE S (ZL and ZR work fine). The stick works beautifully when used with my Wii U, so I know there's no hardware issue.

I searched around and suspect it might have something to do with whether L and R read as analog or digital, so I tried switching modes on the adapter by pressing home+L/R but neither seems to make a difference. I've fiddled around with joy2key and the gamepad calibration settings in Windows, and neither of those recognizes L and R either.

Now, the obvious solution to my problem is just to open up the stick and swap inputs, but I'd like to avoid that except as a last resort. Any ideas?

Here's a picture of the adapter I'm using if it helps, and I'm running 8.1:

...And cross-post from pick-up thread since there are very few pictures of the Wii U stick out in the wild.

Judging by the fact that it took about THREE YEARS for 360/PS3 control boards to show up, you can probably count on almost the same time for integrated/dual-console XBox One and PS4 replacement PCB mods.
It's just not going to happen as soon as some of you want, and yeah, you probably will have to buy new controllers like it or not...

YEESH! The new consoles just got released, guys!

The older consoles -- PS3 and 360 -- will still be used at tournaments for a while yet.

For the time being, there really aren't that many fighting games on the PS4 and XBox One yet. The console communities on both are still a tiny fraction of the older console base and, face it, aside from the new Killer Instinct, all that's available (last I saw) was a warmed version of the Injustice/DC Heroes fighting game on PS4 and XBox One. To be honest, my own money issues aside -- I just didn't want to invest in a new console this year --, I didn't see enough software that made purchasing either new system worth it in my opinion.

FYI, dissing company reps over licensing issues and system compatibility issues they have no control over -- that's just not right. It's beyond rude and immature.

The facts of life --
A) You can go and ahead and buy joysticks with bootleg PCB's like the Qanbas but Mad Catz and Hori are NOT going to make dual- or multi-console PCB's like some of you want. They have relationships with Sony and MS that they want to maintain. They have to keep those companies happy and play by their rules which means they're not making dual-compatible controllers for the forseeable future. Never say never but the likelihood of it happening is 0% right now.
B) Grey market PCB's like the MC Cthulu and PS360+ I'm sure will be around for a while yet. I wouldn't count on any firmware revisions to make them compatible with the PS4 and XBox One. Research and development will have to be done for new replacement PCB's... Existing designs will very likely (I'm saying with over 75% certainty) not work at all -- ever(!) -- on the X-1 and PS4. There's almost certainly other new security chip designs used for both the X-1 and PS4 and those just weren't built into the existing Cthulu and PS360+ designs. The designer of the Cthulu himself said not to count on PS4 support with the MC Cthulu PCB's... it's not happening. He was predicting Sony's switch to a security chip way back when after the facts were uncovered about the 360 and its embedded security chip protocol (which he never bothered to crack; too much time, money and hassle for one individual on a tight budget).
The MC Cthulu is better as it is for retro-consoles (and the PC where it's very reliable) unless you want to buy an Imp PCB board and a common-ground 360 PCB and make it compatible with the 360 in addition to the first three PlayStation systems.
Goes without saying the PS360+ is more convenient for PS3/360 owners -- no need to bother with soldering and an extra PCB to coordinate another PCB board -- but not as good a PCB for retro-consoles. It doesn't look like Akihabarashop.jp is pursuing more retro-console compatibility all that seriously. It doesn't even work with the PS2 all that well and that would be the next obvious console choice after the current market leaders...

MarkMan, it absolutely breaks my heart to look at these everyday and to know that they're not compatible with PS4/Xbox One.

I don't think I'll ever have the same passion for any other Mad Catz sticks ever again.

I'm just going to point you to the post three above yours so you can get an idea of how the real world works instead of whining pointlessly.

If I had spent that much money on fightsticks, I might be mad too!

The takeaway from all this - don't waste money on sticks. Buy or two and use it.

Honestly I think the VLX is still the most comfortable arcade stick made to date. The Fighting Edge still doesn't hold ground against it.

I'd consider moving if Hori decided to release a Persona 4U or Chrono Phantasma Limited Edition stick cause Hori > Madcatz.

Thinking about picking up a Hori Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 stick before they all disappear and can't decide which system to get it for. Any version have a better compatibility rate with newer systems and PC?

Your opinion is duly noted.

I don't think the VLX is the most comfortable stick to date for many reasons. One being the button layout. But again, this is something that is based on preference and experience and shouldn't be up for debate.

Also, I'm pretty sure I'm the biggest Hori fanboy/customer around. A lot of their sticks are awesome.

I also know Mad Catz sticks better than anyone else. I can tell you that if it weren't for Mad Catz sticks, Hori wouldn't have evolved and stepped their game up. And I'm so glad they did.

I love classic Hori though. The Namco Arcade Stick and the Hori Real Arcade Pro SE are my favorite sticks still. Their PC-Engine and SNES metal base sticks are amazing as well.

EDIT: Also they did release a P4U limited edition stick. It was based on the Hori V3/VX case but had Sanwa parts. They did not make a BBCP stick though. Exar released a special anniversary stick with ASW instead.

I picked up the Killer Instinct TE2 with my Xbox and damn is it a nice stick.

The ease of changing the art and buttons if need be, Madcatz gave us a stick that we could easily repair and mod ourselves even oreson than before.

Madcatz could have been scummy and not allowed it to open up and put road blocks in your way to sell more sticks but nope, they even gave you the screwdriver needed to change stuff.

HATS OFF, not many companies have this attitude.

I'm looking to get an entry level fight stick for an entry level fighting game player. (myself). Is there any kind of "this works on literally everything and is okay quality" stick out there? I'll settle for "works on most platforms." Also, I have both nextgen consoles, so working on those would be ideal.

Your recommendations are greatly appreciated!

We also released a launch/setup guide that helps people understand how to get into the stick and swap out artwork.

That being said, we also support the modding/custom community wholeheartedly. I wish more people went out to events like EVO, they'll see that we allow them to be part of what we do and invite them to be part of our booth etc.

Here is a video from last year someone took on YouTube that shows our monster booth:

I expect some of the real experts on here will chip in, but honestly I feel like you might be a bit disappointed with your possible options. For starters, as far as I know there are not any PS4 arcade sticks yet and for the Xbox One the only option is the very nice (but pricy still at $200) MadCatz KI TE. So right out of the bat your only option currently for any next gen platform is a $200 stick that will support Xbox One (and PC? Not sure about this myself) but will not support anything else.

If you rule next gen out of the picture you have a few options but your issue here will still be that only a few sticks that by default work with both 360, PS3, and PC. Something like an EightArc Q4 will give you 360, PS3, and PC support out of the box, but again it's like $150 and you won't get any next gen support. Aside from a couple of sticks like the EightArc you'll have to get a stick that just supports one system and then either dual mod it or get a converter to use with the other system.

May I ask what you are looking to spend / what system you are currently playing games on? One of the things that I would mention is that next gen is currently still getting figured out by hackers and modders, meaning that sometime over the next few years we *might* be getting more and better options for either next gen sticks or for possible converters to use current gen sticks with next gen systems. Unless you really want a stick for Killer Instinct my advice would be to get a stick for either the PS3 or the 360 and either dual mod or use a converter. For cheap ($40-$60ish) the MadCatz Brawl Stick would be a pretty nice option (after you change the art). For more cash ($120-$150ish) things like any of the MadCatz TE sticks or Hori HRAP sticks would be good bets.

If you want something that works with everything.

I'd get a stick with Sanwa parts and just quad mod it. It'll cost you a pretty penny. That's the price you pay though.

There are way too many factors to consider, however the great thing is, most sticks nowadays can be modded without too much trouble.
