Vince McMahon just buried his own creation, PPV television. Seriously, how can companies like TNA, UFC, or boxing justify charging $45 - $60 per live event now?

Id imagine piracy had a lot to do with it. A shit load of people that D/L will pony up $10 a month now.

When they say unedited, does that mean we won't even have to deal with the blurred out WWF logos? Because seriously that's annoying as fuck.

Vince beat pirate streaming sites

Haha, it'll be interesting to see how this impacts them. It's seriously one hell of a deal.

I pay for about 2 to 3 ppvs a year. Its worth one years subscription. I just hope those ps4 or xone apps are ready on launch.

6 months of PPVs for the price of one. It didn't even need anything else.

Other than it not having literally everything at the start, this is way, way better than anyone could have guessed.

The blurred WWF logos have been removed for a while now as they have a deal with the World Wildlife Fund to show the logo on old broadcasts.

No idea if old music or announcers are getting censored. My guess is yes.

Dana White needs to take note. This makes the Fight Pass look terrible. Having PPVs alone it worth the price of admission.

ECW music is guaranteed to be dubbed over.

So you won't get live Raw, Smackdown and Main Event, but there will be replays.....it doesn't say how soon though. I'm ok with this actually.

Losing those programs to networks would be a loss.

I wonder what this will do to ratings. I don't have to commit my monday night to wrestling anymore, I can leisurely watch it Tuesday/Wednesday and be caught up.

In hopes it's a next day thing like Hulu, but not edited like Hulu.

They wont have all the WCW Monday Nitro episodes to stream?? That sucks, still getting it though! That price is just too sweet to let it pass...Hyped as fuck!! :D

They need content to add in later to convince people to maintain or reinstate their subscription. Weekly WCW & ECW shows will be there eventually.

I wonder if they can work a deal with Japanese wrestling promotions to live stream their content through the Network? That would be killer.

It'll be interesting to see if they remove the blur from old Wrestlemania's. The only copies you can get of Wrestlemania on DVD from when they were WWF have the blur's and when they say WWF the audio cuts out.

Yeah, this is crazy. I wonder what the profit margins are going to be.

One million people paying $10/month and WWE getting all of it(more or less, they have content delivery costs), is better then 150k paying $60(and a huge chunk of that going to cable providers).

WWE's total PPV Revenue is around $80 million/year. All they need is 1 million subscribers and they will be ahead.

It's an amazing deal

Really curious to see how the business works out

I see this hurting their DVD sales more than anything, but we'll see.

Wait did they say anything about old Saturday Night Main Events?

I think I'll make my way down the isle to Conn and pitch them a reality show based around Hacksaw Jim Duggan. A show like Holmes on Holmes(HGTV) or like that Vanilla Ice Amish remodelling show(DIY) but with Hacksaw as the star.

No different from any other provider. You're going to have on-demand abilities and whatnot. A good portion of people are still going to want to watch it live.

Yeah but starting the network with your busiest event of the year could lead to a lot of crashes and other issues that could ultimately give your product a bad rep.

That is why partnering with mlb was the thing to do. They have a ton of people streaming games every single night and day on their apps and websites. At the same time they have people watching past games as well. This is 24/7 during the season. They probably are the only company with the experience to handle this. No doubt they are going to have to ramp up for WM30, but I think they can handle it. They would be the best partner to go with on this.

It will be very interesting to see how this plays out. Will this really make a dent in PPV sales? I would think so, but who knows.

It will hurt them but DVD is no longer the future.

I am sure there will still be documentaries and all that.

I don't think they will hurt their earnings much, I mean you have people who only buy the big 4 PPV's anyway so this way undoubtedly rope in more money monthly instead of just quarterly

Well say there were a million buys of WM 30 at $70. How many of those will take the plunge on the Network for $9.99 instead of paying $70?

LOL- I pay for F4W even though I don't watch outside of few things. I am in on the Network this sounds awesome.

I have zero idea how Vince is making money on this though.

He is probably losing money but now they are directly delivering PPVs instead of going through a PPV provider which takes a chunk of the revenue. They really need this Network to be successful just for the amount of money they have put into it. I am shocked how current it is in terms of technology, so unlike WWE they are always behind the times.

Something like 4 million people watch Raw live every week, so you can assume their consumer base is more like 7 million. Now you've got lost costumers (like me) who are probably going to pay for it because we get all the back-content, and I'd say it's probably realistic at that pricing that they have more than 1 million subs within a year or two.

Yeah, the more I let this sink in the more I think Vince is a fucking genius

Just stream raw and smackdown live and be done with it damnit, idk if i can watch encores of that stuff when fb and twitter and gaf would have to all be avoided..

Yeah they don't get people buying PPVs at $55-70, but a lot of those cost are split with friends, people going to bars. A very high percentage of people who do that are more than likely have their own subscription anyways.

I haven't watched regularly in over a decade, so the fact that I can't watch WCW Thunder from the second Thursday in September 97' is a no sale for me. Until they have literally their entire archive available I don't think they have my money.

Look at it this way also. Every PPV will be potentially watched by every subscriber.

You no longer have to decide if a show is worth $45+ to watch it. Their PPV buyrates will change to "how many people watched this show on our Network?" and it could go from ~200k to double or triple for even smaller shows.

No doubt it will too. I mean it's a no brainer unless you're still stuck with dial up.

They aren't going to piss off one of their biggest partners.

Still, this was the last reason I even considered getting cable. The price is right and now I'll actually care about watching the PPVs. I'm glad getting this as a cable channel didn't work out now, actually
