probably the segment most interested in buying the dumb merch

Yeah, WWE is one of those products noone wants to talk about in public in fear of getting publicly shamed. I honestly feel embarassed for any adult I see in a wrestling shirt out(usually at Wal-Mart).

I went to Raw a couple of years back and was shocked at how many people were there. I see like five people a year wearing WWE merch.

You are such a downer. This is one the best things to happen to the WWE in a long time, and to quote Austin, "Ever since you came (here), you ain't done nothing but cry!"

19% of the audience, yet most of the show is aimed at them?

Makes you wonder why they are catering to such a small percentage of the audience. 12 and under is probably what 1/2 the 18 and under percentage?

At one point you were a kid watching wrestling, no? WWE can't cater to old fogeys until they die. At some point you have to bring in a new generation of fan if you want to continue doing business for the long haul.

I think it's mostly people trying to take their kids somewhere or people that just want to go to a show, get drunk, and yell and scream. That's why at alot of house shows noone even knows who alot of the wrestlers are. I honestly can't stomach the show nowadays, but I'm not averse to going to a live event to have a good time and troll wrestlers from ring side.

It's a bad business decision for WWE I feel, just due to all the other revenue streams they are losing, but good for fans of the product.

Because they buy shit. Us old fucks don't buy shit.

when I've been to live shows, I've seen a lot of families. Do all those families go to live shows or tune in, if it isn't appropriate for that youngest 19% of their audience?

that's another thing to consider.

I wear my D Bryan shirt with pride, even though I haven't tuned in for probably over a year. No one has ever publically mocked or shamed me for it.

Their TV rights end soon and they're likely to get at least double what they're getting now. We're talking a NASCAR size deal.

They will be fine, and that's the only reason they're thinking about doing such a crazy thing like this.

Hell, I'm wearing my Punk cap in my avatar. I have no problem admitting I'm a pro-wrestling fan. I've been a fan since I was 7 and I am not about to apologise for it.

When people mock it by going "that's fake, why do you even like that?" I simply go "Do you ever watch a movie?" and that generally shuts them up. It's entertainment, you might not like it, but that's okay with me.

One of my fondest memories of me and my father was him asking me if I "wanted to watch the Hulk". I thought I was going to see the big green guy, but instead saw Hulk Hogan doing something with Andre the Giant (I don't think it was WM 3...might have been build up to it).

I watched wrestling with my dad for a long time afterwards, cheering the heroes, booing the villains (and later reversing that trend :p) and even trying to cheat my old man by having him bet a quarter on some jobber the Warlord was wrestling. Good times.

One of the cuter girls (low standard) at my last job used to wear the Miz's "Hello! I'm awesome" t-shirt to the office. It was pretty cool but I couldn't figure out how to mention it conversation.

I usually go.

"I watch because it's fake, not in spite of."

That's pretty much it. How people still think wrestling is out to fool people is beyond me.
Hell I'm reading some book now and people knew all the way back in the 1920s. People know and are fine being "deceived." They get joy out of it.

I have no guilty pleasures, because I see no reason to be ashamed about anything I like. I think it's a very healthy view point to have. If a friend of mine takes a serious issue with me because I like wrestling, or videogames, or horror movies, or whatever, I take serious issues with that friend.

I have lots of great friends at this point in my life, that like a wide diversity of things.

Never feel guilty about something that gives you pleasure. Unless it's something like masturbating over the thought of your parents having sex or something.

edit: So yeah, WRASSLIN.

'm kinda surprised of the week it's launching- launch 1 week early, and all day 1 adaptors 6 months would run out a few days before Summerslam, forcing a re-subscribe.

Summerslam isn't really that big a deal in terms of PPV buys. It's no Royal Rumble.

But I do get what you are saying and agree that it would be smart for them to move the schedule around a bit to keep the re-subscription cycle going and going. I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple of the "mid-major" PPVs like say Extreme Rules and Money in the Bank tweaked a bit in their placement on the schedule to accommodate having basically one larger show per quarter that really pays off in terms of storylines, feuds, or the title picture.

Ideally, you'd want to move the Royal Rumble, but you really can't. That event's timing in relation to feeding angles into Wrestlemania is too ideal and shouldn't be played around with. It's not broke, so don't try to fix it.

I don't care either, but a lot of people do. I do cringe at some wrestling fans however and fear getting compared to them.

Example, I was at the ROH show WrestleMania 28 weekend. I'm in the concessions getting food before the show and there was a totally stereotypical toothless trailer park hick working in the concession booth and notices "sign guy" who had been in front of me in like and starts yelling "itth thhign guy!" and he just keeps saying "no that's not me" and bolts as fast as he can.

I have no interest in this. WWE has been very medicore over the last 7 years. Quit feeding the WWE machine and give some honest to goodness WRESTLING promotions a try like ROH and PWG.

WWE is going to have to change the way they are booking a little to try and keep some of these old fans subbing for the old footage. It would be a colossal mistake if they don't. They have a chance to get part of their former fanbase back.

There's no reason why Raw can't be the "kids" show and Smackdown is the "adult" show and book both shows according to that. They are supposed to be separate brands still aren't they? I haven't watched in a very long time so that might have changed.

I would say the 50+ aged viewers like the same things as the younger viewers. I combine the two demographics.

edit: on the topic of wrestling clothes: I have a Uber American Cesaro shirt and a Respect The Beard Daniel Bryan shirt. Wear them both to the gym. People give me a weird look until I lift lol then I just feel great. The best part of wrestling slogans!

So what's the alternative? Continue to see PPV numbers drop and let people watch all of the old stuff for free on YouTube anyway?

This first 6 months will be 60 more dollars than I've ever given them.

Only WWE merch I have and wear on occasions where I'm feeling saucy (or at a wrestling show) is my Brett The Hitman Hart shirt, and my Ravishing Rick Rude shirt that says "SWAG" with him posing like a fucking boss. Get a lot of good reactions to that shirt.

Definitely not ashamed of my love for wrestling and talking about it sometimes. I know wrestling (especially WWE) is bad and dorky in so many ways. But that's what I love about it. Found out that the regular bouncer at my favorite local bar in Brooklyn used to be a wrestler and actually had a training session with Big-E Langston before he got big. Would have never learned that if I felt bad talking bout' wrasslin'. The dude kind of looks like Biker Undertaker, so it wasn't too hard to figure out he's into that kind of thing.

I've been given props wearing the first CM Punk "Best in the World" shirt. Was walking towards the mall and some guy walking towards the parking lot was like nice shirt and gave me a high five lol.

My reply is usually "what's your favourite movie?.......that's fake too".

Fantastic price, I'm a lapsed fan and only occasionally watch, but I am definitely going in on this. I think it might actually be a good thing if it changes the PPV structure. Maybe it will allow for longer builds instead of everything culminating in four weeks or less.

Maybe I'm reading way too much into this but having DX and Steve Austin as the primary presenters, and having an emphasis on uncut footage lead me to believe maybe they are planning to make the current product edgier again?

I doubt it. I think that was more to push the uncut and everything for the footage they already have.

Can't wait to see WCCW and 80s NWA, as that's what I grew up watching. Would love to see Wrestling at the Chase as well, but it doesn't appear the WWE owns it, assuming the tapes still exist.

I don't even know what people want when they want non-PG stuff. Like, they'll say curse words more, the ladies will have terrible gimmick matches, and there will be blood. Okay?

Personally, I don't necessarily want the Attitude Era. The Rock calling Cena Gay for two and a half years straight kind of make me think "I used to like this?" but I wouldn't mind the occasional blood in cage matches and whatnot and Don't necessarily want curse words as promos can be good without them but I'd rather here "shit" then "poopie".

There's the WWF episodes of Wrestling at the Chase that they obviously own, but I think the whole St. Louis Wrestling Club library is still out of Vince's hands, which is a shame. It definitely still exists though. There's a bunch of important territories Vince doesn't own like Detroit, St. Louis and Portland that would be great to see some stuff from. And Memphis, of course, but the rights to that are a legal nightmare, apparently.

because at a certain point, you become a battered wife and will keep watching no matter how bad the product is.

Heeeeeyyy!! Generations was awesome, Colors was awesome and Lost World was.....ummmm. The comics are really good now!

I haven't watched much WWE in the last two years, but this should get me back on though.

BTW, will I may able to watch the 80's episodes in chronological order?

The ability to watch all of the old WWF Superstars episodes from Saturday mornings in the 80s/90s might make me sign up for this.

I hope they have some sort of cross timeline stuff where you can watch wwf and wcw as they aired in order without only selecting raw or nitro and only seeing those shows. If they went back and forth, I mean

Probably just their attempt to appeal to the 90s kids who make up a big part of the streaming audience.

They had them there to draw in the older people to watch the announcement. They've said repeatedly they're never going back to TV-MA again, they lost too much money.
