Apex 2014 | Fighting Game Tournament | Jan 17-19

depending on how and when M2K loses in Brawl, Leffen might just make WFs in Melee

edit: 101%? Wonderful 101 character confirmed for Smash 4 Kappa

Um... what's port priority?

Basically, the lowest port (player 4) doesn't take knockback from explosions like grenades during grabs. It's heavily beneficial to Snake as MK will take the KB because he's player 1 -- so Snake could drop a 'nade and grab MK and let the 'nade go off and Snake won't go flying but MK will.

It's a really, really stupid mechanic in Brawl.

This is the Brawl I remember.

Good to know that Project M had more entrants than Brawl this year at Apex (395 vs 340 or so).
So why did they unban MK?
TMK tournaments put in things like ledge grab limits, but I'm not sure if it applies here or not or what the limit is.

P1 has more move priority on clashes than everyone else, P2 has more move priority than P3 and P4, etc.

Thanks. I guess it didn't exist in previous Smashes?

Seriously? Why would Sakurai allow that? Along with Tripping. I will never understand what Sakurai thinking.

It existed in Melee but not in the same way -- the port your controller is in determines your spawn point on a stage. So it's sort of important if you're P3 or P1 on certain stages to get the first hit in. But definitely not the same as Brawl by any means.

Because while the character is overcentralizing to the metagame he's not unbeatable like Akuma in ST. Also, tons of the upper echelon of players main MK and if he was banned, those players wouldn't attend tournaments and for Brawl that's horrible (especially because M2K is one of those players). And also because I think a lot of players in general use MK or have a pocket MK.

Also, the ban was decided upon a fairly biased group of players that disbanded -- it was all around a stupid event that occurred and only lasted (iirc) like 6 months in 2012.

What the hell. Never knew about that.

Actually, it doesn't even have to be explosions, it's any move that deals knockback will have player 1 get knocked out of the grab and player 4 will just take the damage. It also matters for during throws as well, so if MK's Bthrow didn't have invincibility he would have been hit out of it and Snake would have just gone into the grab release animation.

'we found that the owner of the system most often acts as player 1, and therefore only felt it would be fair to reward the host for having friends over to play by giving him or her a slight edge in certain situations'

idk some shit like that

it's funny because I'd believe that

also, oh boy winners finals/losers finals/grand finals are 3 of 5
can we implement Evo rules and make the first two 2/3 at least

At the very least, SSB4 has to make SSBB obsolete. That's all I can ask from Sakurai, and it's not asking much.

It really isn't, but you never know. It's looking like it will simply because tripping is gone (therefore no reason to keep playing Brawl competitively with that RNG shit) but there could always be outliers who want to keep playing this really flawed competitive game (and no I'm not saying Melee is perfect but you know what I mean I hope) for whatever reason.

Has Nintendo said anything about building SSB4 with the some help of the Smash community?

Nooooooope. Ignoring the whole community is Nintendo's M.O.

But that's okay, because the community will continue to just develop Project M and stuff -- no big deal.

wheres Marz

I want him to talk about how high IQ brawl is and how we shouldn't whine about melee being better unless we can waveshine
