What style of game play would you have for a Halo multiplayer?

Multiplayer in halo has seen dramatic change's over the franchise's history with setting's and base game play differing dramatically from CE to 4. My question is what would you like the base game play to be like for multiplayer?

Personally I would like a return of the anniversary setting's which was nice paced and a dramatic improvement over the slowness of base reach. Anniversary was honestly the most fun I have had in a long while in halo.
 
Halo 2 or 3 in terms of style (not counting actual wep balance which can be debated for hours on end). Reach started the horrible Halo trend of having armor abilities, and 4 took it even further with the load outs.

I'm fine with that for other games, but that's just not Halo IMO.
 
I'm not a huge Halo fan, but I loved Reach - so that.

I can't remember if you could dual wield needlers on Reach or not, if not, throw in that as well. I liked dual wielding needlers.
 
I remember reading an article about Halo 2 multiplayer well before it came out that said it was going to be class based like Team Fortress. I really wanted to play that.

I don't know how they both do a great Halo and do something significantly new.

And no, I don't think Halo 4 was that significantly new, it didn't appeal to enough oldies and newies, it was an awkward middle ground.

Personally?

I want Halo 3. I do. Halo 3 Multiplayer, ODST firefight, they were the multiplayer online experiences I truly loved.
They do need fixing up technically of course.

ADS is a staple of the evolution of FPS games. Not to mention, the addition of ADS would help reduce the need for the ridiculous amount of aim assist. I understand its a controller crutch and I am certainly not saying it needs to be removed 100%, but in my opinion it needs to be reduced, at least half the area it currently snaps can be removed.

My guess is Destiny is going to be exactly what im looking for when they reveal there compettiive mp.
 
It's debatable that occurred following CE, Funknown is the best person to ask about that though.

Yeah Halo 2 started the downward trend in Halo gameplay, but since it was still fun and had some awesome parts to it, I'll put most of the blame on Bungie not amending these mistakes for Halo 3 and actually making gameplay worse.
  • Inconsistent shooting mechanics in a FPS.
  • Stronger vehicles in a FPS with inconsistent shooting mechanics.
  • Way more options to survive/escape any engagement thanks to Equipment and inconsistent shooting mechanics.
  • Sluggish gameplay (shooting/aiming, equipping weapons took forever, animations, etc.)
  • No improvement to Matchmaking options for custom searches/parameters to play what you want without tediously setting up Custom Games.
  • The list goes on.
So yeah, while Halo 2 started a lot of these problems, Bungie should've made the game leagues better in Halo 3, but instead it only got slower and more inconsistent. Halo 2 should've just continued down a path of faster and tighter gameplay (movement especially) coming off CE, but we've been seeing the opposite for years.

Yep this is seen right as the franchise continues, issue are never picked up on or are made worse, Maybe halo combat renaissance? game goes back to it's root's and develop's from there, now that would be interesting.
 
Halo 2/3 with filterable matchmaking so I can not be subjected to maps and variants that I do not like, of which most maps are terrible and I could do without most vehicles and power weapons.

In fact, give me like 3 maps, Team BR, and only human weapons and we're on our way to something enjoyable.

No idea! Not really enjoyed Halo since Halo 2. I felt like I could at least complete to a certain level in Halo 2. After that it all goes to shit and I just suck.

Personally I much prefer to play in Forge and make maps than I actually doing playing them. :D Also, I prefer objective modes instead of various TDM style modes. Feels like I am doing something even if I am not killing loads of people.

This is one of the reasons I like Halo. ADS makes me feel like I have claustrophobia.

The world can do with less games/movies/franchises in general trying to be like other ones simply for the sake of doing so.
 
I prefer objective modes instead of various TDM style modes. Feels like I am doing something even if I am not killing loads of people.
A custom's games browser would be a nice addition, it would allow for game type's to be made and tried out on a much larger scale than before. It would allow people to play more varied game's for sure.

One of the worst posts I've ever seen in a Halo thread.
 
Halo 3 gameplay with a bunch of Halo 2's levels (or remixes of my favorites). I loved Headlong so much! As far as guns go, keep the basic Halo ones and then make additional guns that are ACTUALLY different. I hated Halo 4's copy paste design for Prothean weapons (Pistol, shotgun, etc.). You're a sci-fi space shooter, have some imagination!

Such a shame we got a remake of Headlong in a Halo game I didn't care about at all (Halo Reach or 4, can't even remember which one got it). :(

I'd also like to see Valhalla back since it's one of my favorite BTB maps next to Headlong.
 
Halo 2, just take out the glitches and button combos. Obviously improving network stuff and adding in more modern conveniences, although Halo 2 was way ahead of its time with matchmaking and party systems. Best maps, most fun.
 
I think they need to stop remaking maps and come up with some genuinely fresh, new and memorable maps. Just leave all the remakes to a much improved version of Forge.

Nope, ADS needs to stop being shoehorned into every shooter. An arena/arcade shooter comeback should happen to diversify the genre
 
I said this before, but class-based (like TF2) mixed with some MOBA elements.

Give it a unique position in the console space.

Otherwise, just perfect 4v4 arena gameplay and take out everything that affects symmetry.
