Wow, that star makes it seem a lot more legit to me.

Either way, it's pretty insane that the picture has kept up legitimacy for a good 12 hours or so.

it's not even a picture, it's two pictures that the internet has failed to disprove, each with qualities that cannot be found elsewhere

Exactly. Which is why we should raise awareness of this. Just tweet it to him if you can. Maybe even the Ness/Jiggs "leaks" too.

If it's real, he'll know and likely respond somehow. If it's fake, he'll blow if off.
 
When Greninja and Hawlucha legitimately leaked for Pokémon X and Y, they seemed less believable than this, lol.

This Palutena leak looks legit.

I don't think he'll respond to any Smash talk, he probably gets tons of tweets.

I don't know. If it's real, he could still say it's fake for damage control. Then never reveal Palutena prerelease and surprise people.

I actually won't put much thought if Sakurai comes out and denies it.

If this is real it was probably meant to be a surprise reveal in the next Direct or at E3 or something and we've now ruined those carefully laid plans. I'm glad to get the information, but remember what happened to PSABR? I hope the whole roster doesn't leak in such a fashion.

Well, we did have that Gematsu leak which may or may not have been changed where they held off revealing Little Mac, Mii, and Pac-Man.

I feel similarly, but one of the good things about this leak is how little it really shows us. All we really know from this is that she's there (which, while never a given, was a pretty safe bet), and how she looks. We still have a whole moveset, CG movie... so many other things left to see and get excited about. Hope he's not too down about this, if it's legit.

I feel like some people want new information each day, and some people don't want it leaked. I'm not sure there's any way to keep everyone happy. :P
 
On this note...

I can't wait to play Palutena! I don't know how she'll play, but still. Kid Icarus is an awesome franchise, Pit is a great fighter in Brawl who's further buffed in Smash 4, so I have hopes that Palutena will be an interesting character considering Sakurai has a lot of creative control.

Also, I feel a bit bad for Sakurai if this is all legit. He spends a lot of dedication with newcomers, including CG trailers for them. I hope this isn't ruining all this.
 
I just cannot see someone creating this for "the lulz" putting a Power Star charm on her like that when everyone would try to recreate her design with 100% accuracy. This is totally a classic Sakurai homage/reference/Easter egg.

You and me both. The two characters I wanted in were Ike (to return) and Palutena.

To be fair, I was also kind of hoping that if she wasn't a character she'd have Snake like codec conversations with Pit about each of the different characters. Honestly, Palutena isn't Palutena without some good ol' fashioned trolling.
 
If that was an assist trophy it would make more sense to be a straight rip from Uprising. The models always have less put into them compared to the playable characters for obvious reasons.

Hopefully it gets confirmed soon (fake or real) so I can rest easy :P

Also I hate this leaker for spoiling a Nintendo Direct/E3 surprise :(

She could still appear in codec conversations if she was playable--all three playable Star Fox characters appear in the Lylat Cruise conversations, it's entirely based on the character who calls them. So if Palutena called them, she wouldn't appear, but she would if she didn't.
 
Have we ever had in-development leaks of any previous smash bros games? I'm not talking roster leaks a couple weeks before launch, i'm talking about actual leaks, with evidence, while the game was in development. I honestly can't recall any.

There was the famous leak during Brawl's development that leaked the Dragoon Parts, some veterans, Lucario, and Wolf. It didn't have any pictures, though.

Pretty much. There will be huge fall out at Namco if this turns out true.
