Super Smash Bros Wii U & 3DS Thread 4: New Year, Old Arguments

Hitstun was actually fine in brawl iirc. The fact that it could be canceled almost instantly was the problem.

My biggest gripe was the unlimited amount of air dodges one could do in Brawl.
Just get rid of that please.

Also fix half of the recoveries in Brawl. Gliding, multiple jumps, plus a ridiculous Up-B was just overkill. Tether Recoveries should have the system in PM. Shitty recoveries should be buffed.

Yeah multi airdoges are annoying and for gliding....pit's and charizard's glide was manageable but that bat having 6 jumps, and 2 chances to glide was idiotic.

Hmm...on the subject of air dodges, wonder will sakurai apply the ledge mechanic to them. The more they're spammed used, the less invincibility they give.

PM kept most of those things so I don't think they are objectively bad but instead the implementation into SSBB was just bad
 
What would be really neat would be that when you pick a character on the character select screen, instead of having the announcer say their name, the character's voice says their name. Just imagine picking Having a super grungy deep voice saying ganondorf, then a couple beeps and tones for Mr. Game & watch. Actually, this should be toggle-able

Actually, this idea is shit, never mind.
I believe in Sakurai being able to get their voices right.

Has it been confirmed or de-confirmed if we are getting a dojo this time around?

Sakurai confirmed that they wouldn't do Dojo again for Smash 4 (Wii U and 3DS) hence this massive thread is for daily images instead. I preferred daily images over dojo since we still have some kind of surprises.

Yeah, it could do that in Melee because of its wacky hit box. Never been able to do it consistently though.

Random thought: You know, I really understand a lot about Marth after playing him for so long, but honestly sometimes I wish I had learned to space animal. Marth was the Smash character that clicked with me fastest, but good Fox/Falco play gets me so damn hype.
 
The biggest megaton for me wouldn't be a stage or a newcomer, It would be a release window. We know "2014", but when? Summer? Fall? December 31st? D:

I was a Sheik player since the first time I played Melee at a Toys R Us sometime before the Gamecube launched in 2001. That character just felt right.

Fox/Falco definitely bring the hype, but you'd be hard pressed to find a character harder to use at a top level than the space animals in Melee. One mistake and you are going to feel it. I mained Falco for a a year or two, and while it was fun dairing fools and shine comboing people... those gimps hurt man ; _ ;

People should play more doubles, it's an amazing way to play.
Plus Puff needs more love. Buff her to Kanye Rest and Wall of Pain status again.

I can never understand why they nerfed Puff so much. She's a very niche character that few people can play well with. Her only ground game were he throws, f-tilt, and f-smash. Her B-Airs and Rests were hit so hard and they made up for it with a lackluster F-air.

Even D-air to rest wasn't that satisfying. Like what the fuck did Puff ever do to you Sakurai?

Falco's pillar combos were crazy, shine them up then dair them back down.
When I first started I was a Marth person, then I went to Ice Climbers/Puff, then back to Marth. I loved Falco but I couldn't get into Fox for some reason. Trying to learn Peach now.

My kindred spirit, this a thousand times!!! What would honestly get me hyped way more than brand new characters or items or stages or modes or gameplay elements is a date. Just a simple date, or even a month! anything would be better than "2014", well except "2015" of course

Most "nerfs" in Brawl were just due to the overall gameplay being changed for the game and every single move being designed to prevent any kind of followups. Oh and everyone getting godlike recoveries + ledge magnets.
 
Maybe if the characters didn't have cement shoes, they wouldn't sink so fast. There has to be a balance between the heavy gravity of Melee and floaty moon jumps of Brawl.
 
Hey, on one hand the statue doesn't have the same trinkets and stuff as in the leak. So there's that. On the other hand, we still have no idea.


Edit: Oh, and who wants to make a thread? :P
 
I kind of feel like this is a fake out. Like if someone is playing as Palutena on that stage, suddenly the statue is of Viridi instead. Bam
