Super Smash Bros Wii U & 3DS Thread 4: New Year, Old Arguments

New Topic:

What kind of concept that you saw in Project Melee that you would like to see in Super Smash Bros 4?

For me, I would love to see Zelda's fireballs became traps for few seconds then it would exploded. I would love to have newcomers to share the similarities with Zelda's fireball traps and Lucas' Power up mode.

A lot of what I love won't be possible in Smash4 (L-cancel white flash, air dodging out of special attacks), so I'll say Ness and Lucas' down specials having a hitbox. And also being able to jump out of them. THEY GAVE NESS A SHINE, IT'S CRAZY.

Hasn't he always revealed two new characters per month? Yet only Dedede was revealed this month.
Sakurai, what does this mean?

Maybe two characters were revealed this month.

I really, REALLY hope tether recoveries work like they do in P:M. Makes recovering with ZSS and Ivysaur so much better.

Some things moveset wise when I first started playing since 2.5 that really gave a great first impression were Luigi's green missile being storable, Lucario's aura "meter" system, Ness' PSI Magnet "shine" property and Sonic'd overall moveset rehaul. Zelda's Din Fire theatrics is amazing and I hate playing against Zelda people lol.

We've only gotten two characters in September and December.

To add to this, those times were when Sonic and Rosie were revealed, IIRC.

I'm attempting to formulate a speculative reveal schedule for the next 6 months assuming a Smash Newcomer is revealed every direct, which I admit isn't a safe bet at all. Under that assumption the reveal schedule would look something like:

EDIT: Oopsie, thanks Intellihealth!

February:2 (Direct)
March:1
April:2 (Direct)
May:1
June:2-4 (E3, probable reveal time for final 3rd party character)
July: 0-1

Edit: Megaman... *my sides*

But June 10-12 is E3's dates.

Edited: Here is my schedule.

Feb 13 - Diddy Kong
Late Feb ND - Palutena
March - Yoshi (It's possible but more likely to be summer 2014 due to japanese release date.)
April - Nintendo Direct
May - Wario (Mario Kart)
June - 3 newcomers and release date for E3

We did have more than one character revealed this month.

We saw Ashley, Viridi, Palutena (statue form), and Dedede.

September is when Peach and Toon Link were revealed. Sonic was revealed in October.

Anyways, if you're trying to make any speculation, you should look at the time between reveals instead of seeing which ones fall into which month. Also, look at Nintendo's release schedule.

Number one thing I want back from Project M that everyone should want is the unique tethering system they had.

Even if a person's on the ledge, tether recoveries will still work and tethers don't get ultra nerfed by an edgeguard.

You might wonder, what if they bother try to grab at the same time? Well if someone's on the ledge and a tether tries to pull up, they automatically go for a jump instead.

I'd also like Lucas to have his jazz hands and Ivysaur, granted she stays, to keep Solarbeam.

There are a lot of things in PM that I want to keep in SSB4.

Ah.

I haven't been paying attention to the release schedule very much, since we've had an even mix of hits and misses with the reveal predictions going off of that. Time intervals are indeed important though. (The reveals seem to come in intervals between 3-6 weeks in length.)

I hope Turbo Mode comes to SSB4 in some shape or form.

Here's some Captain Falcon Turbo Mode goodness.

The Ultimate Sacred Combo. Play as Falcon during Turbo Mode and you'll be styling on your opponents.

I also want Snake to keep the Tranquilizer Gun instead of the Nikita missiles. The tranq was too good.

Turbo mode is tooooo good. Sakurai will never add it lol.....

Seeing gifs of Port Town makes me hope they bring it back in HD.

Actually I hope the stages from Brawl he chooses to bring back are redone in HD. It would unacceptable for me if he brings back retro stages and they don't get the treatment.

Atleast bring back Planet Colors.

Considering that the previous retro stages were exactly the same as the originals, it probably won't happen.

Turbo mode is just so unappealing to me. I don't know why, but I don't like playing with it. The fact that it exists I'm indifferent to, and it's great that people like it, but I just don't care for it.

Yeah I know but still...it would just be a wasted opportunity. It'd be kinda jarring to be on a stage that was originally made for 480p in a game that should be native 1080p. Maybe an update can be an old stage updated in HD.

So are you playing as WFFT or WFMT? There's probably no difference between them but which one will you choose?

I'd probably use WFFT like 95% of the time and then sometimes switch it up with WFMT.
