Super Smash Bros Wii U & 3DS Thread 4: New Year, Old Arguments

haha well that is better, Kinda wish sakurai would have revealed mewtwo first so people wouldnt be so down on him.

The Mewtwo fan backlash is ridiculous. To be frank though, almost every single revealed character so far has had tons of gaffers complain about "personal fav x" not making it in. It makes me not want to read character reveal discussions at all :/ they're toxic.

The complaints about veterans returning at all is the weirdest one to me, especially as someone who wants everybody from Brawl + Mewtwo back. After shit storms over MvsC3 not having even half of MvsC2's cast come back or the praise Tekken Tag Tournyment 2 got for how comprehensive its roster was, it's weird seeing the odd person here or there in Smash reveal threads getting legitimately disappointed characters from a previous game are back in a fighting game sequel.

Don't know if it's just cynicism for the sake of it or really weird expectations.

I've seen gaf members who literally go into every veteran reveal post going "fuck this character all I want is captain falcon" for every single veteran. Same case for a few other veterans.

Smash fans are one of the weirdest fanbases that exist, especially when it comes to character choices. You don't see the stupid "slot" talk in any other game with multiple characters.

I sure hope they have not cut the Earthbound characters. Correct me if I'm wrong, but has anything Earthbound/Mother-related been revealed? I don't think we've seen a single sign of acknowledgment of the series as of yet.

Smash roster discussion is the single strangest anomaly in both crossover and fighting games period.

Well, slots discussion does existed during UMVC3 from what I remembered.

I think that you don't need to worry about Earthbound because they are not going to cut Earthbound series from the game. I'm pretty sure especially after they finally release Earthbound for VC.

It is even more ridiculous, since the wording of Sakruai comment give Mewtwo a even higher chance to be back into the SSB. I don't believe, that he almost would have cut a character with the Shaodow Ball/ Aura-Attack and there is no third popular Pokemon, who would be a fitting replacement. And if Mewtwo is back, he will be an unlockable character and only reviled after the release of the game.

Awesome !

Most stylish Final Smash in the game =3

It is kinda weird that he has "dog nose" texture all over his body...

Only thing I can say here is that they should make his lower face brighter, still a vast improvement over Brawl's Lucario in terms of color.

Lucario's back, huh? Guess it'll be interesting to try him out after the changes they've made.

Also, not sure if this was mentioned, but what stage is this? Rainbow Road?

New Topic:

What kind of concept that you saw in Project Melee that you would like to see in Super Smash Bros 4?

For me, I would love to see Zelda's fireballs became traps for few seconds then it would exploded. I would love to have newcomers to share the similarities with Zelda's fireball traps and Lucas' Power up mode.

Lucario's aerial side special.

I posted this in the confirmed thread, but it works here too.

If they ever reveal Pokémon Trainer, I hope Sakurai removes their gimmick;

After 1 minute and 20 seconds into a match, the Pokémon you're using get affected by "stamina", which significantly weakens them (they're also visibly tired in their animations). You can either continue playing as a weak fighter, or you're essentially forced to switch out to a different Pokémon to "recharge" the others after a period of time.

Seriously, that alone bumped Pokémon Trainer to one of the worse fighters in all of Brawl to me. It's so stressful trying to play them effectively and efficiently, and you'll always get punished for it thanks to how long their "switch out" animations are.

Does anyone else hate this?

The only problem I have with it is no Chibi-Robo.

Sponge, replace Alph with Chibi-Robo and that list would be perfect.
You. I like you.

Lucario looks fantastic. The pic of him by the tree is a reference to the movie isn't it? Or am I thinking of something else.

Well, I would like Sakurai to fix the switch mechanic by letting us to hold down then tap B twice to skip one pokemon. Example: I have Squirtle out, I would have to hold down and tap B twice to get Charizard without having Ivysaur coming out then switching out again.

Speaking of Ness and Fox, I hope they reveal Ness soon.

I've been playing those 2 characters far more lately, and they really are great (though Fox clearly is superior in most fronts, but Ness has that back-air and down-air, which are some of the best moves in all of Brawl).

I can see heavier physics and increased hitstun helping Fox a lot more (though considering his extremely high falling speed even in Brawl he's gonna be combo fodder himsef). Ness has a lot of set-ups already, and has a really creative moveset, so I can't wait to see them chain into each other in beautiful ways.

Both characters are gonna have a tougher time with recovery, though.

We still have a list of obvious starter characters, but I'm not sure about Pokemon Trainer and Jigglypuff.

1. Ness
2. Cap Falcon
3. Wario
4. Ice Climbers
5. Yoshi
6. Diddy
7. Metaknight
8. Mr. Game and Watch (It's his time to be starter character)
9. Sheik
10. Zero Suit Samus

Anyone think Ghirahim would have been a good fit for add in from LoZ cast? That guy would have a pretty awesome moveset/special. Or maybe to many sword wielders?

What about the 3DS version?

daily-2013-12-11.jpg

That's the island though, I guess I'll wait until we see the full stage, it could be cool.

Don't want people ruining all my crossbred flowers!

That's exactly what I want, flowers and stuff on the stage that get destroyed. Would be glorious.

He'd be cool, but I think he's nothing more than a one shot villain like Zant. I could see him fitting in if Nintendo wanted to make him a recurring character.

Has anyone been keeping a running list of the various rumors/leaks, and if so, which ones does today's Lucario's reveal kill?

It killed Dedede/Diddy Leak, Translator Leak, and some bogus rumors. I think we only have two or three rumors left to disprove.

Honestly, I don't think we will see any legit rumors until few months before the release date.
