Supposedly Nintendo Switch 2 Tops 15mill in Sales to Date

Perpetually Offended

When we last heard about the sales figures for the console, it had crossed 10 million sold by the end of September, which was a big deal. In fact, Nintendo scaled up its projections for the fiscal year due to the crazy pace that the system was on. Now, insider Paul Gale stated on Twitter that the Nintendo Switch 2 has crossed another big milestone:

Add it to PS5 and PS4 sales and you'll even have greatet sales than 155 million... what a joke of a sentence, on par with the infanous polygon pie chartz...

I can see somewhere around 15-16 million by early Jan, but it's as much a guess as this random guy. Would make for one hell of a launch window.!

Sounds like that'd be in line with their (new) 19M estimate by March 2026. But very impressive to see them beat their original estimate after only ~6 months - if this is true.

We should be getting numbers from Nintendo in February.

By this time next year, Switch should be over 160M, the best selling console of all time (unless Sony bumps up PS2 number again )
Way too optimistic imo.

Their original estimate for FY25/26 was 4.5M, which they then revised down to 4.0M. If they reach that Switch (1) will end up at ~156.12 by March 2026.

They'd need another 4M for it to reach 160M+ by March 2027, and the estimate for FY26/27 will naturally be lower than that.

They might get there in FY27/28 though, if they keep it around for that long. Without a price drop, increasing prices for components, and Switch 2 performing this well it's an uphill battle.

They did, it is 160.63 now, they sold 630,000 PS2s in 2025 it is genuinely impressive for a DVD player that played video games.

These Pokemon bundles are going to sell like crazy over Christmas
Why do you say that? In the US and UK PS5 sold more in recent weeks. I am sure it is selling steadily and I don't doubt that they sold another 4+ million since the last update, but it is not selling like crazy. Keep in mind Switch 1 moved over 20 million per year at its peak and if they did sell 15 million, only 10% of Switch 1 owners upgraded. 15 million in 6 months is not that wild considering where they were in the market. If they had a better system seller like Zelda or 3D Mario they probably would be a few million higher.

Regardless of the dubious source. Switch 2 shipping over 15m by December 5th is a safe bet. It had done 10.36m by September 30th and Switch 1 shipped 7.23m for it's first holiday quarter.

They are seperate numbers. He's not adding Switch and Switch 2 numbers together.

Awesome :)

Nintendo really deserves the Success because the Nintendo Switch 2 is better in every Way than the Nintendo Switch!

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is a real disappointment for me personally but I still have alot of Fun with the Nintendo Switch 2 :)

To say 15 million units sold in 6 months isn't selling like crazy, is a wild take. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the last official numbers we had showed the Switch 2 as selling the most launch units ever I believe.

Some people doesn't understand how massive this is…

It's...literally the fastest selling console ever.

This is a case where what I'm seeing locally really doesn't align with the global situation. Here in Sweden the Switch 2 has been readily available everywhere since launch, there has never been a shortage at all. The price (which was pretty ridiculous at launch) has also dropped significantly, and is now more in line with what it should cost after € -> SEK conversion.

Why you correlate that having a stock of a console = not selling well? That's an indicative of a good supply from Nintendo.

What narratives?
I would assume the narratives from some on here and YouTubers suggesting the console is not selling all that well. Based on Spain and the PS5 selling more consoles on Black Friday. Of course very little in the way of any context or indeed nuance in the case of the latter. Sony reduced their console by $100 across the board so it was bound to push some extra units.

The Switch launched in a quiet part of the year and has still sold very well, in fact Nintendo increased production and their sales predictions. This will be on fire sales wise after the holiday period.

But we will still get the age old anecdotal evidence of stock still on shelves, and nobody I know personally wants one lol...

Yes, Switch 2 did 10.36M in 4 months. The previous record holder was Ps5, which eventually reached the same milestone after 8 months.

It's also worth noting that, unlike Switch 2, Ps5 launched in November and also benefited from the holiday sales within that period.
