For real. Getting through ending B is the most tedious part, as there is a fair a mount of repetition (even if new angles are being presented to what actually happened). But after that... when I saw "NieR: Automata" "opening credits" again, my jaw was firmly glued to the floor. Just some incredible stuff and plot developments.

Sequel will come no doubt and is probably deep into dev already.
Not a direct sequel, but something standalone that links up with Replicant and Automata in some way.
I'd wager it could be announced this year as Square seems to have a lot cooking in the oven for release in 2027 and 2028 (FF7R, DQ12, KH4 etc).
These my expectations anyway!

Started playing recently. I didn't know anything about that game except that it was great.
First scene, she gets out of her aircraft, and I'm controlling a fucking gothic robot lolita in high heels with an attitude. I finished the prologue and requested a refund. Gameplay is maybe great but I'm allergic to this horny salaryman pandering called modern Japanese culture.

Could mean anything, honestly. From making some kind of an online game to a soulless husk of a sequel with no Yoko Taro involved. Or even just a new season of anime, continuing the story without a game.

Yoko probably wasn't ready to do it, its a hard act to follow.
And without him... its just another franchise. They tried it with Drakengard 2, and we all know how that turned out.
The success of this game always warms my heart. Honestly its the greatest underdog triumph in the history of gaming.

Man, FFXIV barely receives enough budget even though the game is literally keeping Square Enix afloat. Another Nier is gonna be another low budget affair, as they've always been

Cool. I enjoyed what I played of the game, although I bailed out when it required hours of repetition in order to advance the story. That's one of my pet peeves, and I just couldn't get past that. But in the portion I did play, I enjoyed the overall atmosphere and some of the questing. I watched a story summary and commentaries on Youtube to understand a little about what I'd missed out on by not preceding further.

well, thankfully Nier isn't really tied to any one studio.
the first one was made by Cavia, which closed down 15 years ago, and the second one was made by Platinum.
the remaster of the first game was made in collaboration of former Cavia devs, Platinum, and some in-house Square Enix people.

you gotta know however that the game expects you to do multiple playthroughs, as some elements change each time.
and some endings aren't as straight forward to get.

Nier is part of Drakengard series but you dont need play those in order understand whats going on in the story.

I dont think Yoko Taro would do direct sequel......If we do get new Nier it gonna take place century after Automata with new casts and contained story.

The urban environments look bad, especially for a PS4 game. However, once you get to the amusement park, and non-urban environments, it has a lot more character.
I continued playing through to the end of the main act, mainly due to the combat.
I personally preferred the first game, but even then I wouldn't say either game are the best in class.

I don't really think Nier Automata needs anything else. Other than, perhaps, an update to the PC version that fixes the stuttering.

Time for a new playthrough. Haven't played it since it came out. Incredible experience but I prefer the first one still. Nier was magical back in 2010 when I played it the first time. What an original and beautiful game. I hope SE brings Replicant over to Switch 2. It's long overdue.
