Pym is a dick because he tries way too hard. but his heart is always in the right place. Reed is that spoil kid that you have to constantly tell no too. I blame Reed's dad, when you grow up in a household where it is ok to fuck around in the timestream, you never learn boundaries.
There's this overlooked moment in Hickman's FF where Reed has an opportunity to lobotomize Doom instead of helping him like he originally promised, which every other Reed in the multiverse has already done at some point, but is stopped cold in his tracks because Spider-man and his father give him a mean stare down. Had he no friends or family he would have turned Doom into a vegetable and consequently killed the world as Doom would later help them save it.
