EXCLUSIVE: Prime Video's series adaptation of the popular God Of War video game has added another high-profile creative auspice. Emmy-winning director Frederick E.O. Toye (Shōgun, The Boys) has been tapped to direct the first two episodes of the action-adventure series from Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios.

He joins Ronald D. Moore, the series' showrunner, writer and executive producer. Pre-production is underway in Vancouver and casting has begun on God of War, which has received a two-season order. Originally greenlighted by Prime Video in December 2022, the project kicked into high gear following Moore's arrival as new showrunner last fall in a creative overhaul.

I will absolutely give Ronald Moore the benefit of the doubt. And I'm sick to death of Kratos. He's a real shorwrunner so no real reason to doubt him. Amazon did really well with Fallout, Boys and Gen Z.

when it comes to game adaptations that closely adhere to the source's storyline, i don't undrstand why people don't simply replay the game instead. if the fallout series didn't have its own unique narrative, i'd've skipped it, also...

Same reason people enjoy comics and books as movies/TV.

It's easier to consume / replay.

I cant wait for this to come out and the rest of the internet get up in arms about how the actor for Kratos isn't *insert adjective here* enough or how unfuckable the child actor playing Atreus is going to be.

Kratos is going to be difficult to cast.

I would go with Michael James Shaw if they can get the white paint to look good on him.

Otherwise it'll probably need to be an unknown.

Yet right now you can't buy ANY God of War game except 3 and the "new ones" on PSN

ALL are left behind for no reason

it's the 'consume' part. someone says 'easy to consume', & i think 'pablum'... tho, of course, come to think of it, maybe a video version of pablum's exactly what we're talking about here?...
No, just a common saying/metaphor, similar to 'easy to digest'

Yay. The Walking Dead had an amazing pilot directed by Frank Darabont but then turned into a complete turd right after.

It's like name-dropping Stranger Things except it's the rent-a-director from that godawful punk episode. The series itself is great but it's not because of that director.

I don't think it will be good. It will be based on the new 'modern' God of War and not what made the series so great back when.

It should be a white guy, Kratos is from the ancient Greece (Europe).

Start with Greek story you cowards.
I assume they'll cover the Norse arc with the couple seasons they have signed.

If it works, I assume they would sign another one with the first game in the next mythology (Egypt, India, Latin America or whatever it is) in addition to sign a separate prequel series with different actors and team covering the Greek arc.

for you, maybe. when talking about enjoying the results of creative endeavors (other than cooking, of course), i never think 'consume'. like when i went to the louve all those years ago, i never considered myself 'consuming' the mona lisa...

They're 100% going to do sad dad Kratos shit.

That has no meaning if we don't see all the he went through with the Greek Gods. Him being old and tired and not wanting anything to do with any gods. Him breaking out the blades of chaos after not using them for so long (which will mean nothing to new viewers, if they include that scene). Him trying to raise a boy when he use to be such an uncaring bastard. You can't show that with flashbacks and shit. If they go straight to sad dad, then they fucked up and I don't want to see it.

INB4 the inevitable outrage around the skin colour of whoever is cast.

I mean, it should technically be a Mediterranean man, but the casting is most likely not going to be that.
