‘Wolfenstein’ TV Series in Development at Amazon From ‘Fallout’ Producer Kilter Films, Patrick Somerville

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
A TV series adaptation of the "Wolfenstein" video games is in development at Amazon MGM Studios, Variety has learned exclusively.

Exact plot details are being kept under wraps, but the (incredible) official logline of the series simply states, "The story of killing Nazis is evergreen."

Patrick Somerville is attached to serve as the creator, writer, executive producer, and showrunner on the project under his chaoticgood.tv production banner. Jonah Nolan, Lisa Joy, and Athena Wickham will executive produce via Kilter Films. James Altman of Keyframe Films and Jerk Gustafsson of "Wolfenstein" developer MachineGames will also executive produce.

A potential complimentary piece to this:

It could be good but who really knows, lets see first trailer and judge after that at least :messenger_sunglasses:
BJ Blaskowicz was son of polish emigrants after all so im all for it, just make the series fun for men to watch, aka brutal/sexy/full of blood etc, no emo feelings/feminism/wokeism and rest of that bullshit :)

The premise is that it's going to use the modern definition of nazi, which last time I checked includes anyone not willing to enthusiastically give away their culture and societal expectations.
I read through the entire article and they only said one thing about this show, which is "The story of killing Nazis is evergreen".

Is that your worry?

Can't be worse than Youngblood or Wolfenstein 2. I've actually turned off Wolf 2 in the first 10 minutes after witnessing an everything-phobic rant and being forced to
kill a dog.

No, it's looking at the recent history of TV shows and extrapolating how the narrative trends might affect a Wolfenstein show.
Perhaps looking at the showrunner's track record may give you confidence or concern.

Or here's a crazy idea, perhaps waiting until it's a finished project, and judging it then.

Sure. Chris Nolan's brother and his wife. But it looks like they're just writing checks and doing interviews. They tapped Somerville to write and run it, and his filmography is considerably less impressive than theirs. Frankly looking at his wiki, it makes you wonder what prompted Netflix to even give him the budget for Maniac. I didn't make it beyond the second or third episode, but it looked expensive. What did you see in Maniac that makes you think he's a good choice for a show based on a game that is a grindhouse style action fest with very little dialog or story?

The tagline is a bit disturbing considering the obsession modern American left has with nazi's. I'd disagree with it being evergreen and even argue that it's retarding our ability to think beyond the post-WWII framework. We live in a completely different paradigm that doesn't bear any resemblance to the conditions that led to that war. Nationalism has been dead for decades and any hinting at European ethnic solidarity is roundly condemned by Westerners and non-Westerners alike. Is it evergreen just because the people who make our visual media say it is?

Jesus man. You sound like you'd be a fucking riot at parties.
Quite the opposite. On my old street whenever there were parties at 'that one house', the move was always to call the police with "I think I heard gunshots". Then just gather round the living room window with some popcorn and have my own little party. Ironically (or maybe not so ironically), the cops on scene always managed to pull an illegal firearm off someone at the party, so the validity of the repot never really came into question. Telepathy? Paranormal intuition? Remains a mystery even to me.

Laughable that is still a measuring stick though. Big time purple energy. Perhaps it's time to stop looking at the world through the lens of American Pie and Superbad. It hasn't served us well.

It is more fun to watch people actually fight nazis in alt-history, than watch the internet exert the mental illness that anyone they disagree with is a nazi.

That said, most video game adaptations still suck, and I'd rather not have any high expectations.

Not to derail the thread, but no. Not even close to accurate. The term Nazi existed in Germany before it started being associated with Hitler's NSDAP party.

People in Germany started calling them Nazi from shortening the 'N' in the party name (Nationalsozialistische). Hitler's party even tried calling themselves Nazi to "take the word back", so to speak - as you may have seen a repeat of on TV recently.

The term gained popularity outside of Germany when describing the NSDAP leading up to WW2. People just started calling them the Nazi Party. This was in the early 1940s, long before political correctness came about.

Rather have a Elder Scrolls series.

Fallout is already the most popular game to tv series so imagine if the same guy did Elder Scrolls and have these two be the best game to tv series combo.

Would be a better as a trilogy of movies than a series. But hey. Let's see how it turns out.

Honestly I wish somebody would make a ready player one part 2. I want see another movie set in the gamerverse.

My guess is that they won't do it as of now, because it would probably be double the budget of Fallout, due to being a fantasy show.

Also Fallout will have to prove itself as viable for a full series. Season 2 is always the true test of a show, especially now that streaming sevices only greenlight one season at a time.
