TDU Solar Crown would be my candidate for worst release. I haven't played it, because I don't want to give the devs a dime, but the whole project just looks bad and it's extremely unappealing even for a big TDU 1-2 fan like me.

The studio (or more likely the publisher) turned it into a MMO on purpose and they're desperately sticking to this idea instead of thinking of changing how the game can be played. Add to that tons of bugs, disconnects and lost progression tied to always online requirement, horrible graphics combined with poor optimization, not being able to freely race AI cars, no AI difficulty levels, an enormous grind just to buy a car or two... I could probably go on.

Silent Hill Short Message in not so bad...

Except SH:SM, they got all multiplatform release... what's your point?
Take what you will. What was your worst game this year?

For me it was Hellbade II, the gameplay and walking sim aspects really didn't do it for me. Turned it off after the first 30mins. Too slow for my tastes.

Yeah, it's pretty dumb to even mention that. Especially as Test Drive Unlimited got a lower score on PC than PS5: 50 vs 53

Same with Funko Fusion, PC 50 vs PS5 54.

Ignore the dumb platform war thing OP tried to introduce first and foremost and it's a good list of bad releases.

No all these games are multiplatform and available on Xbox. It's just that everyone doesn't care about Xbox anymore, that it's almost never used for Multiplatform Review, because to do that you either have to turn it on or move it away from the door it's propping up.
It was an attempt

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch

Multiplatform games has different scores for each of the platforms.

eg Looney Tunes: Wacky World of Sports is 58 on Xbox and 47 on PS5.

Please don't lump them all together

Did they ever fix it in the end? It was sold as a Forza Horizon killer and it ended up worse than The Crew: Motorfest.

IMO my personal biggest disappointment was Alan Wake 2. What a drop from the first one in every aspect.

man, JJK had a tough year lmao

This game is 100% dogshit though and they should be ashamed to have squandered such a popular IP with such a terrible game. Should at full price, no less. Outrageous.

SH The Short Message is the only game on the list I played. And it's by far the worst game I played this year. Thankfully SH2r is probably the best.

Man, be less triggered, people 😆

It’s a shame what Test Drive has become. Test Drive 4 was one of the best racing games of all time and they kind of fell off a cliff after that.

Some if not all the games are also PC games including number 1. 🤔

From what I've read the game is more stable now, but its core is still the same - the graphics are still bad (if you have a weaker PC or playing on a console), you're still supposed to play with other people like an MMO and the progression is still very slow.

The publisher wanted it to challenge Forza Horizon and wanted all the money from the online model they've picked, but you need a budget for that and you need to sell it well to the fans. They've failed in both categories and they refuse to admit their mistakes.

Hellblade 2 was a pretty dreadful game, focusing solely on the story-telling and high-quality production values over having an immersive and compelling gameplay experience.

If it has been a £20 indie release then that I would have deemed that acceptable but this was sold as a full-price £59.99 game yet it only takes a few (dreary) hours to complete and there is zero replay value. Extremely disappointing considering the developer behind the game. Expected much better to be honest.

Does that mean concord is number 0? I mean how bad does a game need to be? lol

Honestly it made me appreciate Ryse even more. It just needed more action to break up the walking and story. Ryse on higher difficulties was awesome fun and looked great. Pity Hellblade 2 just didn't have anyone keeping an eye on pacing, or if the audience was awake still.
