DIGITAL MIND CORP (DMC) said it has released a 100GB version of its protable music player.
The firm claims 20 hour plus play time for the Xclef 500, which costs $450, support for FM radio/FM recording, and PC and Mac compatibility.

It can hold around 25,000 music files or even backup your hard drive, claimed the firm, because it's recognised as a USB device.

The unit has a built in microphone for voice recording as well as an analogue/optical line in for recording at up 320kb/s.

As well as MP3 files, it supports WMA, Ogg Vorbis, Wave and ASF. The company said it's also set to release video products into the market at the beginning of next year.

It also sells smaller models at 40GB, 60GB and 80GB and obviously at cheaper prices.

Or is a Mic/Line-In different from an analouge/optical line-in (really, I am not too sure, I know my old minidisc had both an optical/analouge line in and another line-in (mic?). I not sure where it is though so I can't check.

Mini-discs have both a Mic and a line-in. Mic and line-in have different signal strengths. Using a mic on a line-in results in *really* *really* quiet recordings, IIRC.

And a built in microphone is probably some cheapo POS they tossed in to round out the features. I mean a *real* mic-input so I can use a real microphone (for live concert bootlegging, etc).
