Came across this link in the comments section at MeFi. I kind of have a fixation on both death and the 19th century, so this scratched various itches. Note: this site will cause a wide range of reactiong -- likely everything from creepiness to compleat nonfeeling. If you're squeamish about death-related issues, I'd skip this site. A year and a half ago this trend of rich Victorians would've absolutely disgusted me, no question.

EDIT: Creepy voyeuristic tendencies may also be required to be into this sort of thing. What really needs to be made is a Creepy Victorian Painting archive. I needed some a few weeks back for a project and I couldn't find many, much less a place where I could order cheap prints to manipulate by hand.

I didn't know places collected these things. I have a stack of WWII related death photos my grandfather took. Perhaps they'd interest someone... of course, they're a lot more violent than what this site is going for.

I don't really 'like' it, but it is interesting all the same. It's a tradition during that era that has been completely lost today. I remember seeing a few of my old family photos (From during this time) where the person literally looked dead, but with their eyes still open. I just now only learned through this site that they used to paint eyes on the corpse to make the subject of the picture look better...

That was pretty creepy. Interesting, but I can't say I overly wanted to see some of those (I did click on the small pics though, it's my own fault).

I don't like the ones with young girls dressed and sat up normally but with their eyes closed. I better add that to the "to forget" list.
