The Klipsch 2.1 are great, u should also consider the logitech Z-2200. The Z-2200 are the speakers that use the same sattelites as the Z-680. Klipsch is the best though.
How can they be so inexpensive, if they are so good? I might have to look into these speakers. I have the Logitech 560's right now. I think 560 is the right model number?
Get the logitechs if ur not getting the Klipsch, they sound great, much better then the altecs. Altec was at the top of there game a few years back, they kinda slipped away since none of there new systems beat my ADA 995's.
Keep in mind that the rebate isn't valid at select retailers. However, the rebate works for most online stores.
I just picked up the Logitechs myself, and they're fantastic speakers with a killer sub. My friend has the 5.1 version of the Klipches, and they also make a great choice.
I pretty much just use my headphone at all times now, so I don't NEED any new speakers, but if either of these are decent for $10-15, I'll pick them up. Anyone have an opinion? Should I just steer clear of anything this cheap?
I was in the same position as you earlier on. But i i solved my problem by getting a Panasonic SA-AK410 Stereo System. And connected it to my computer. So now its works as a radio and speakers for my computer. With great bass. And its cheaper than alot of the good 2.1 combos.
I just bought a set of Logitech Z-340's and I got to say I'm a little disappointed with them. And I'd only been using stock standard computer speakers before them.
The bass is far too overpowering even at near the lowest setting and the sattelite speakers seem to sound "not quite right". They're not too bad but I'm considering taking them back to get something else.
I'm interested in the Logitech Z-2200's but I don't think they are available in Australia yet. What are ppl's opinions on the Z-3/E?
I just found the Logitech Z-2300s available in Australia. They seem very similar to the Z-2200, just a small evolution of them.

I suggest buying a STEREO (e.g. Sony, Aiwa, Panasonic) with two 100W speakers and a line in/out. The cable for connecting it to your PC is about $4 at Best Buy. Who would've thought?!
