2-Player RPG what is good or even great?

Had a lot of fun playing Tales of Symphonia with my ex. She'd button mash with Lloyd while I nuke the hell outta stuff with Genis. Pretty fun stuff.

Sheena is pretty fun to play with, since she's so fast.

Regal too.

Pretty much everyone except Raine is fun to play with.

Raine can be fun with her Randomizer Ex-Compound Skill.
Assign Photon to B and then spam B, X, B, X, B, X... and just destroy everything. :)

I didn't care much for Shining Tears. The controls and gameplay I thought were really clunky/akward, and God the load times. Might be okay two player though, probably worth checking out if ToS or SoM aren't available. ToS is awesome, don't listen to neptunes.

Or if you're more into competitive RPGs and don't mind spending the time for it:

Pretty much the only current gen games I play nowadays.

Crystal Chronicles FLEH! It's right up there with Fable as a game that goes out of its way to make you want to hate it.

Dear god, thanks for reminding me why I would never want Square to do remake of FF6, between that awful FMV and that cosplayer video, today realistic graphics direction would probably mimic those. :lol

SD3, that always is really fun mana game to consider as well.

Better in 3/4 player, tbh, I find it a bit too slow-paced for a 2 player game (although that's not to say I haven't enjoyed it). And if you want to loosen the term RPG by a bit, Four Swords Adventures is great fun with anything from 2-4 players.

What? No love for Super Ninja Boy? Awesome kung-fu beats, beat em' up style combat with some cool turn-based stuff on the side, plus sweet platforming levels. This game was really fun and it's an excellent starting point for someone new to rpgs as well.

Shining Tears is okay, but really repetitive.

Radiata Stories isn't two player as far as I know..

Secret of Mana 1, 2 (Seiken Densetsu 2, 3) and Tales of Symphonia are the best ones I've played. Square needs to make a good Mana game again someday...

Radiata Stories is a game that should have been 2 player.

Would have made the boring combat system, less boring.

ToS is a ton of fun but the 2nd player needs to be prepared to fight off screen.

I played it once by myself controlling lloyd who is fun, and then I played it again with two friends.

I had one friend play lloyd as the main so he could see, another use genis so he didn't need to see himself that much, and I used presea and damn was she fun to use. But I am not sure if I would have liked it had I not been experianced at the game and could fight off screen with relative confidence.

This is so true. I really liked the multiplayer, but fixing this would've made it so much more enjoyable. I doubt it would've been that hard to fix either.

I couldn't stand playing more than 5-6 hours of ToS. I tried so hard to like it but it just didn't do it for me at all.

Crystal Chronicles was frigging amazing if you had three other people to play with.

Loved BG1/2. played most of CoN1, but started getting tired of hack-n-slash.

for Crystal Chronicles, don't you need two GBAs to play? i only have one and no friends with one..... which sucks. same problem with Zelda (four swords) i think.

damnit man, damnit. any others that you can play MP with two controllers (instead of 2 GBAs)?

Crystal Chronociles is the best multiplayer RPG ever that no one will play.

It's so much of a hassle getting 3 other people to bring down their GBASP's (if they still have them) and hooking everything up.

They can't even use their DS'. Lame-ness.

Only issue with FF:CC is the whole bucket thing, but if you find a friend who doesn't mind being bucket bitch the entire time, you are absolutely golden!

^^That x3 plus rechargable batteries (if you somehow manage to play more than 100 hours like we did) = one of the best gaming experiences ever!

I see you nor your buddies have mastered the proper art of bucket play. Hell, we barely noticed it was there there half the time (because 1: only I usually bothered with it though we did sometimes fight over it - yes fought for it - because whoever held the bucket had the last say on where to go and 2: It wasn't that big of a deal even though I mainly used non-mage characters ie not as many ranged attacks). A smooth experience all the way through (except for the swamp where the area just dragged and dragged ...
If anything, it's the game's useless charged weapon attack move is the issue, especially later in the game. Made the Selkie class near useless since it's the Clavat class that has the accessory for shortening charge times.

Pretty much wraps it up.

Xmen Legends 2 though has very LONNNNGGGG missions. I had a 4 hour one yesterday but the multiplayer is a blast.

Crystal Chronicles is an option and it's very fun at first it is just hard to finish the game multiplayer wise. People get frustrated, the whole bucket thing and it can get very repetitive.
