The mother of a 2-year-old child that went missing yesterday was located this morning. According to Guam Police Department spokesperson Lieutenant Kim Santos, 30-year-old Deena T. Kenworthy from Mangilao went to the Agana Precinct to report her child missing.
Officers later through their investigation identified the woman as the mother of the child that was found in the jungle area of Mangilao yesterday at around noontime.
Kenworthy told police she left her child with her brother, 21-year-old Mark Yirit from Mangilao. Yirit however told officers he never heard his sister ask him to watch the child, only saying that she said she was going to work. Yirit further told police he was occupied playing video games on his Xbox and never noticed if the child was present or not.
Officers arrested Yirit on charges of child abuse, and he was booked and released. The child remains in custody of Child Protective Services.
