$20 for Twin Snakes is a steal

Just picked up the game from EB today. I thought I'd give it a shot after beating MGS3 and wanting to go back to MGS1, especially TS with revamped graphics and cut scenes.

How are the controls though? This is the only thing I'm worried about. Are they as bad as everyone says they are?

Controls arent that bad, better than some 3rd person controls on the GC. Its highly playable and lots of fun, i'm glad you picked it up. I just beat it a few weeks after getting it. Now i'm on to play MGS3. Anyways lots of fun stuff like yoshi and mario (shoot them for health)

How is this a steal when you havent decided if the game was worth the $20?

And the controls blow. Putting down your gun without firing a shot feels unnatural

Only an ass could make a thread like this.

I can only try.

Anyway,

wtf open that shit up and find out

I won't open it up until I finish Ace Combat 5. I just heard Oli talking shit about the controls in the other MGS3 thread and was *curious* to see if there was any truth to his comment. =P

Well MGS is one of my favorite games so I really doubt I wouldn't like it.

How can you consider the game to be a steal at $20 when you haven't played it?? Does not compute.

I think the game pales in comparision to the PS2 MGS games, in every way.

I didn't think the controls in Twin Snakes were anything awful. But the GC controller just wasn't designed to accomidate the game, especially since the MGS games were designed for the PlayStation and PS2 specifically. As mentioned, things like putting away your gun without accidently firing a shot and holding up guards for dog-tags are more cumbersome than they should be. But dog-tag collecting shouldn't be a big deal because there is no reward for doing so, at all.

TS was a decent remake but I don't know if it's really worth a purchase since it's so short and for the most part very easy(excellent rental though).

No offense, but isn't this a very shitty time to ask for advice? Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I usually ask BEFORE I buy the game.

Anyway, I didn't care much for it. Same old, same old. The controls were a bit fruity, the shadows suck major dick (even in cutscenes), some of the models look bad (particularly for a Metal Gear Solid game), and some of the cutscenes don't make an attempt to fool the watcher into thinking the events taking place could happen in reality. Admittedly, some cutscenes in other Metal Gear Solid games aren't exactly situated in reality, but they don't go out of their way to make it appear so.
