Howard Is 'Retired For Life' From Dunk Contest

RealGM said:
Dwight Howard says he won't take part in another dunk contest during his career.

"I'm retired for life," Howard said of the annual All-Star Weekend event.

He won the event in 2008 and finished second to Nate Robinson in 2009.

"I don't want to do it," Howard said. "I want to let other people have an opportunity to shine. I (have done) the dunk contest too many times. I'm over with it."

Fuck you, NBA. Fuck you, Stern. Fuck you, judges.

There's nobody in the league right now with the amount of creativity that Dwight has.

Fixed, and meh.

Since the best dunks are posterizations anyway, they should make someone try and block the dunks against the best dunkers in the league. That would be highly entertaining, because both guys would have a vested interest in 1) looking badass and 2) not getting embarrassed on a national broadcast.

If nobody is able to dunk over the defensive player, he should get to take the trophy and destroy it in whatever way he sees fit.

Dwight's good, but I think people overrated him a bit. JRich did some crazy shit... real creativity. Guys used to not have to bring out capes and phone booths and extra crap just to get a 9...

I want to see Terrence Williams in there.
SamuraiX- said:
You never mentioned anything about Wall being Brandon Roy 2.0 in his rookie year. :lol
I said he's injury prone and he probably would get banged up way faster than his body could adapt. If it wasn't his knee, it'd be his shoulder or his back whenever he got the heart to actually go at someone in a half-court set for once.

Barrage said:
Pfft Nate's garbage. Iggy got robbed.

I couldn't do that at his height.

Smaller guys rule.

No one over 6'6" should be allowed in the contest.

I still think Vince Carter is the best technical dunker I have ever seen.

Michael Jordan the most stylish.

Dominique was awesome but I prefer grace over violent force.

J-Rich 2 time dunk champion.

Not hard to be a great dunker when you're 8 feet tall.

Nate Robinson >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Derrick Rose should be in it, I once saw him do a nice double pump reverse jam.

As long as Blake Griffin is in it, people will watch I guess.

Why? Because he's closer to the rim? So is Yao. That doesn't make his dunks fun to watch.

Yeah, Nate Robinson is the best. Love watching him miss 20 fucking attempts before he finally puts in a dunk. I think he had like 2 or 3 nice dunks of the 12 he did to win 3 contests.

Dwight in 2008 was fuck-awesome. He got a little too much into the gimmicks in 2009, but still put on a better show than Nate. Dwight was fucking robbed in 2009 with that Kryptonate shit.

He should've told Nate to go fuck himself instead of letting that midget jump over him.

JR and Josh Smith both need to come back.

The best part about the dunk contest now is Kenny Smith's ridiculous logic when it comes to standards and scoring.

"THAT DUNK WOULD BE A 10 ANY OTHER TIME BUT THE BAR HAS BEEN RAISED BY X PLAYER!"

i mean, in real life there is no 11. youve gotta make 10 louder.

Thank god Wall is a levelheaded guy who's immune to vicious rumors / lies like this.

Also why are people talking about the dunk contest like it is relevant.
Its relevant as long as Gerald Wallace doesn't show up higher than the ODB.

It is relevant, at all star weekend. As relevant as anything else.

Because anyone with any ounce of athleticism at that height has a major advantage.

Not his fault but I just don't find it as impressive especially when he wears little costumes and throws the ball in the hoop instead of truly dunking.

I like guys like Spud Webb and non-giants like Jordan, it takes a lot more ability to be a modest height and work magic above the rim.

Dwight Howard puts a sticker on the backboard and dunks.

With his armspan alone, I don't find that impressive.

I don't really think Nate Robinson is a great dunker, it's just impressive considering what he has to work with. Neither of those guys really impress with with regards to the actual contest.

That overrated under the legs bounce to an ordinary finish has gotten to his head.

So when dwight raised the hoop 3 feet, it didn't add anything? even though comparitively, that would make him smaller than nate?

The arguments silly really, both sizes have advantages in what they can do and can't do. If dwight tried to drunk from the FT line or extended, he'd probably tear his arm off at the shoulder.

Would you prefer to talk about what type of defensive schemes the Wizards and Kings will run when we rematch next month?
Not falling for the trick question, everyone knows the Wizzzz don't run any defensive schemes.

DY having to root for injuries because Wall be stylin' on him otherwise :lol C'mon son.
Wow. Way to twist my words up...

I said that the guy probably wouldn't hold up and *gasp* he's not.

On the last year of his contract, Jamal Crawford is seeking a contract extension from the Hawks. But so far, he hasn't been granted such a request. And with a lot of recent money invested in Joe Johnson and Al Horford, there's some chatter Johnson may not be back with the team in free agency next summer.

So enter the Blazers.

"One Blazers player and one source within the organization said [Blazers GM Rich] Cho has inquired about the availability of Atlanta guard Jamal Crawford, only to be rebuffed by the Hawks," wrote Jason Quick of the Oregonian.

Feels bad man

BTW T-Mac and et all, this is how you do it.

Yao Ming says he's ready to return to action for the Houston Rockets. But he's waiting for the team's medical staff to come to the same conclusion.

The Heat are fucking amazing. OMG! They are the greatest basketball force ever assembled. Since I'm not gonna let David Stern ban me again, that's all I have to say. I'll troll during the ASG and then once more when Miami wins the Finals. I'll stick to chat until then.

Oh yeah. I'm shocked no one is posting my preseason post still. Did my comments on Bosh suddenly start to ring true? :lol Cry more, assholes. U stay mad. PEACE

Walls original injury never really healed and these are the results. The day to day shit needs to stop.

Wall is going to have to learn how to attack the backboard more and develop his game in other ways. He's hit the rookie wall.

He isn't B. Roy, this shit is a result of running full speed into NBA trees. He'll figure it out but it'll take time.

Is the gambit here that the looming lockout will force Crawford into a weaker position in negotiations?

Seems really dick of the front office.

The gambit is the hope that the new CBA allows them to cancel 40million of JJ's contract so they can spend it on crawford.

126MILLION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That Onion Article :lol :lol

Whether this Miami Heat team wins big or buckles under the weight of enormous expectations—just as LeBron James has every year of his career thus far—it will hardly matter to the NBA's all-time leader in hugs and being-a-super-awesome-bud. Because for LeBron James, it isn't about the rings. It's about slam-dunking a great hang-out session and boxing out the bad times with the two greatest friends and Olympic-level talents that an elite, once-in-a-generation athlete desperately in need of postseason validation could ask for.

Iggy's come from behind the backboard dunk was the sickest one I've seen, but he pulled it too early.

If he'd saved it for the Finals, Nate would have been crushed.

Wait, I just realized Pimpwerx says he plans to troll during the ASG.

It's a fucking exhibition game!!

"Ooooooo...the EAST won!! U mad? Cry moar!!"
