Seattles Own Classic Gaming Expo Grows With Second Annual Show
The Seattle Retro Gaming Expo moves to a bigger and better venue, the Red Lion Hotel in Bellevue, WA.
BELLEVUE, JUNE 16 Seattles long history with video game publishers, developers, and enthusiasts has established the Emerald City as a beacon for video game players that stretches back to the early generations of console and arcade gaming. The Seattle Retro Gaming Expo (aka SRGE) was created as a place for fans of those bygone console eras to gather, swap stories, play games, and bolster their collections.
SRGE 2012 is focused on the main components of what makes retro gaming fun: collecting and trading games, playing your favorite games with friends, multiplayer tournaments where everyone is in the same room, and meeting new people who share a passion for the classics. SRGE has all of these aspects covered.
The vendor hall at SRGE 2012 will showcase many of the great local businesses who will have their products and services available for all attendees. Our goal is to connect these local businesses with their customers by bringing everyone together. Included are local hobby gaming stores, location based LAN and gaming centers, a wide variety of artists, media personalities and bloggers, and much more.
Steel Battalion War Room
This year, well be featuring a very exciting and unique activity available for all attendees: A fully LAN-connected, 8-player room dedicated to the rare and exciting mecha-combat game, Steel Battalion. Released in 2002 for the original Xbox system, this game featured a massive 40-button, multi-joystick controller. As it simulates piloting a massive and complex walking tank, the game challenges players to learn all of its functions while engaging in high-pressure, war-like field combat. SRGE will be providing 8 stations, complete with the game and controller, for attendees the rare opportunity to enjoy and compete on this piece of gaming history.
The Freeplay Zone
Our Freeplay Zone will also be open to all attendees, free to play during the show hours. In addition, well have consoles from every generation (not currently in production) with games, challenges, contests, and more. One of the highlights to this years Freeplay Zone is that well have available every U.S. licensed Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64 game to play.
Toe-Fu RanBat 2012 Tournament Finals
Competitive gaming will heat up at this years show as the stakes are raised for local fighting game players. Another Castle is hosting a one-of-a-kind series of tournaments, each on some of todays hottest fighting games. The winners of the tournaments on each of these games (totaling three tournament champions) will win airfare and entry-paid trips to the EVO Championship Fighting Game Series in Las Vegas, which are being held July 6th. The EVO tournaments are considered some of the most prestigious to win in the world. And are the most online-watched competitive gaming event of the year. In addition to these major tournaments at SRGE, many walk-up tournaments will also be hosted on a wide-variety of genres. These competitions are being hosted by our good partners at GameClucks.
Special SRGE Raffle w/ proceeds going to Camp Kesem
SRGE is also committed to helping out and giving back to the community. Once again, a charity auction will be hosted after the vendor hall close. We have a wide assortment of rare and collectable games, memorabilia, and other fantastic items. Our showcase item will be a full-sized arcade video game machine. This will surely be a highlight to anyones collection of video games.
Pre-Sales tickets are available online at www.SeattleRetro.org and exclusively at our Feature Sponsor, Another Castle Video Games in Edmonds. Folks who take advantage of pre-registering are granted one hour early entry into the Vendor Hall.
