Poythress' issue is that he has zero basketball IQ. I love him, he has loads of physical skills, but the kid doesn't know the right decision to make, ever.

Great when it comes to hustle play though. Would destroy you in a 1 on 1 pickup game.

This is a Coach Cal problem, He's not a guy that can develop talent.

If we can keep this in single digits going into the half then I think we have a slim chance. I still have a hunch Wichita will just continue to execute the shit out of our porous defense, though.

We are absolutely not going to win this game. Wichita State is better than we are. Either they win or they lose it for themselves but unless they falter we aren't beating them.

Josh Harrellson

You can't teach intelligence, unfortunately.

Stanford won? looooools. I don't even know why I made that pick, but right on.

Now I just need lolsville to keep on winning. And for SECSECSEC to drop a couple. ;)

Hiryu, I see you right behind me!

OK, I'll bite show me someone that improved beyond the talent they went to UK with. I'll wait.
You're kinda tossin' me a softball here. Calipari made Josh Harrellson an NBA player. There have been numerous players to improve a great deal at UK (especially his guards outside of John Wall) but I'd say Harrellson is the biggest turnaround. Dude was overweight and pretty bad his first few years.

You've got a stat somewhere to back this up? I really want to be wrong.

Ok so he went from 1.3 points and 1.2 rebounds a game to 6.4 and 8.8... I guess that counts,

He's on an NBA roster for crying out loud. And yes, 5x his points and 7x his rebounds count. Don't be a fuckwit just because you were wrong, please. Take it and walk away.

You know, I'll take this I guess. I'll just go with this. If I had a kid with potential to be great, I would choose a bunch of other coaches to teach him than Cal.

Harrellson didn't even play at first. He went from playing 2-3 minutes a game because he was fat to leading us to a Final Four and battling good college big guys like Jared Sullinger.

I'm not going to pretend like Cal made guys like Anthony Davis and John Wall, but players like Nerlens Noel, Terrence Jones and Brandon Knight all improved dramatically at UK after shaky starts and games that were filled with garbage habits. I think he deserves some credit for that.

That's not really true. He certainly can develop point guards and bigs anyway, wing players less so.

I'll give you that he isn't a 'start from scratch and rebuild your game from the fundamentals' type coach, which is maybe what a player like Poythress needs, but if you say players don't improve under him, you are either blind or a liar.

Like I said, I'll take it I guess but no Josh is not on any NBA roster. Ahh I forgot the Pistons picked him back up.

Eh, I think Cal is actually pretty good at developing individual talent.

He's not extremely good at developing a team, but that's different.
And he makes up for it by paying for better talent than anyone else!

Because he's done such a terrible job with "project" Willie Cauley-Stein. Also, people forget that Eric Bledsoe was not a blue chip coming out of high school and was not expected to be a one and done player.

What's your list of coaches? If you can name one that's better at getting players to the NBA, well, I'll be blown away.

Don't remind me. He doesn't do much as far as developing a team. Sigh. :(

I was always a big Bobby Knight and Dean Smith guy, but isn't this conversation over? Didn't you already "win"? Or do you want me to agree with you?

I got grudge sucked!

And both products are at their lowest in terms of quality, so not something I'd shout from the rooftops (not that its Cal's fault either).

UK back in diss.
