Not surprising and I don't think Crean has ever proven he can develop a big man to become a better player

Cody Zeller definitely got better & Vonleh did before he hit the middle of the Big Ten season and got injured. I don't think individual player development is the issue with Crean.

I would say the main issue with post players is that the offensive sets IU runs under Crean are more guard/wing-oriented. Feeding the post isn't a focus. There have been long stretches the last 3 years where the offense basically completely ignores Zeller/Vonleh, which is ridiclous considering they both will end up as lottery picks. You would think they'd get 10 shots a game (before put back dunks, etc), but instead the guards jack up the shots.

Crean has mentioned publicly how they want to get the ball inside to the bigs more but he never disciplines his players by putting them on the bench when they don't feed the post.

So what do you think about that Baylor/Wisconsin matchup? I'm about as worried about that matchup as I was Butler/Wisconsin a few years ago. Plus this is the point Wisky lets me down usually.

Rumors that Jeremy Hollowell is also looking to transfer from Indiana are showing up now.
Edit: Now confirmed that both Austin and Jeremy are transferring.

I'm not a fan of Crean at this point but 14-15 shouldn't be a trainwreck year with the shooters they have coming in. Their big weakness was that teams could just pack it in the middle and dare IU to shoot jumpers.

Of course it really depends on who transfers from IU (rumor is 2 players may) and who they sign in the spring.

Austin Etherington, Jeremy Hollowell and Johnny Matlin all decided to transfer, according to what I'm hearing. IU is back in the shitter. Sounds like they have more one-and-dones than Kentucky. Actually, one only made it half a season before ditching them this season.

Those aren't big losses for us though. Hollowell is unfortunate but it just felt like he never tried when he was on the court. I don't want anyone staying who doesn't want to be there. We can make good use of 3 available scholarships. Really hoping we can land the Temple guy. Also, wouldn't surprise me at all if Hollowell and Ronnie Johnson end up playing together somewhere

Yeah, Etherington was recruited over and is going to graduate in 3 years. Hollowell leaving is addition by subtraction. Marlin was a walk-on.

Rumor for a while has been that Hollowell & Ronnie Johnson were going to transfer to IUPUI.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage

Maybe that rumor that appeared a week ago about them firing Crean and replacing him with Woodson wasn't that far off.

I really hope not. If they want to replace Crean, I can think of a hell of a lot better decisions than Woodson. I think Crean is safe for another year but I bet Fred Glass basically laid it all out for him if we have another disappointing season

Say what you want but having what looks like 5 transfer out is a bad sign.

The mass exodus at Indiana is worrying for me. It looked like the team was heading in the correct directions but at this point I am just wondering if it was a fluke with Zeller and the guys we had at the time.

Losing Etherington, Hollowell, and some walk-ons is not bad in terms of production but it makes me wonder what is really happening with the program.

I wish Luke Kennard all the same success as AlexLegion and Trey Ziegler.
:lol

I really wanted Luke Kennard. Getting him, Matthews and Malik Newman would have been a great three guard lineup for 2015. Oh well. Just need Cal to make sure we don't lose Newman to anyone like we did Kennard.

You don't understand. Duke can't have one scholarship whitey on the team. We're too low on the scrappy/bbIQ meter. This rights the ship!

I remember we recruited Zeigler too, where did he go again?

:lol Kennard will be a Dan Dakich favorite in 2-3 years.

But really the sad thing is (since we didn't get him) is that I actually think Kennard is legit. White guy shooter, but also surprisingly athletic and a good slasher. I saw him play live twice and came away fairly impressed.

Played for his father at one of the directional Michigan schools. Then transferred to Pitt when his dad was fired. He was then kicked off the team halfway through his first season there.

I think Kennard and Allen are legit players. Allen is supposedly the better athlete, Kennard is supposed to be the better defender and floor general. As long as neither are Thornton/Paulus 2.0 they'll be great, and fun for the rest of y'all to hate.

Last year's team was entirely too likeable for Duke haters.

We got to get back to taking charges (flopping), floor-slapping, chest-pounding, dagger 3ing, loose ball diving, in your grill defending.

God I can't wait for the hate for Grayson Allen. He's definitely got the most punchable face since Paulus, bar none.

Hope the kid stays off Twitter. For his mental health.

I can't wait for Allen Face to become a thing. Too bad the Turtles are going to be the B1G's lap boys for the foreseeable future, their troll game was usually on point.

None of the 4 SEC teams made it past the 2nd round in the NIT which pretty much justifies only having 3 teams in the NCAA tournament. Now if the SEC east was its own basketball conference that didn't play many games in the SEC west, it would be a very strong division.

All this just reinforces for me what I posted towards the beginning of the topic. That conference strength isn't a major indicator either way of tournament success. The whole "battle-tested" myth that ESPN loves to play up with conferences like the Big 10 and the Big 12 is garbage.

SEC doesn't have divisions in basketball. It's actually why UGA ended up 3rd in the SEC. They only played UF, UK, and UT once.

Lee's going to ISU. Mark it.

The new normal in the ACC: Storming court after NIT win. In other news, the SEC has three in the (NCAA's) Sweet 16.

Meanwhile an ACC team holds the BCS title in football.

Up is down.

Down is up

The Sweet Sixteen is almost here. :)
Thank the gods. I tried to watch some NBA on Tuesday, but I have a hard time caring until the playoffs. It was really dull after all the tournament excitement last weekend.

Predicting all chalk today and all upsets tomorrow.

Just like Oregon was the sexy pick last round, seems Baylor is now the sexy pick to beat Wisconsin tonight. These national guys keep disrespecting hot white basketball.
